Here is the update!
Luka's place:
Luka put the bowls of coffee on the table. He rubbed his eyes, tired. He threw a glance at the stairs. I thought about the night. After her nightmare Abby stayed awake two hours, trembling, her cheeks got wet by her tears. Luka had cuddled her to calm her down and she fell asleep. He sat and began to have breakfast. When he finished, Abby wasn’t awake yet. He looked at her bowl. He sighed and went up. He stopped in front of the bedroom’s door which was half-opened. He looked inside. Abby was lying down on her left side. Her left arm was under her pillow and her right hand was putting on her belly. Luka leant back against the doorway, looking at her lovely. Suddenly, she opened her eyes.
“Hi…”
“Hi.” Luka moved to her and sat next to her. “How are you?”
“Better… but tired.”
Luka drew a lock of her hair which was in front of her eyes, behind her ear. She smiled a little.
“Do you want to tell me your nightmare?”
She shook her head. “Not really… I prefer to forget it…”
“You’re right.” Luka nodded. He bent over her and put a kiss on her forehead.
“I have to go… do you want I ask to Kerry if you can stay at home?”
“No… I’m getting up then this morning I have an appointment with Coburn for my seventh month. ”
Luka nodded, he bent over her and kissed her passionately. Between his kisses he whispered.
“You’re beautiful.” In his own words, it meant something more important and Abby knew it. She smiled peaceful inside her.
Westwood, Illinois:
Eric went down the stairs. Sandra was in the kitchen. They looked at each other. Eric was smiling, he surrounded Sandra with his arms and kissed her in her neck then he smelt the scent of her blond her. He took her right hand and played with the ring she was wearing. She smiled to him.
“Did you talk about your engagement to your sister?” She asked with a sweet voice. “Yes, she was really happy. She loves you and for me it was very important.”
“I know…” Eric had told everything about Abby and him, their troubles with Maggie and his troubles. Suddenly, the door bell rang.
“Do you wait for somebody?” She asked.
“No. You?”
She shook her head. She shrugged and walked to the door to open. A man with greyish hair appeared.
“Yes?”
“Am I at Eric Wyczenski’s home?”
Sandra nodded. “Yes, you are.” She turned to look at Eric.
“Eric, it’s for you.”
Eric appeared. He frowned.
“Yes?”
“Eric…” Jim was frozen, he could barely talk.
“Yes… we know each other?”
Jim trembled. Eric looked at him with an insistent glance. Jim shook his head and made a U-turn, went down the four stairs. Eric was still looking at him. Sandra looked up at Eric.
“Who is he?”
Eric didn’t answer. Jim got into the car and started up. Eric was following the car of his eyes. His face was familiar… but why? Who was he? Suddenly Eric remembered… he remembered…
Eric was four years old. He felt his sister’s arms around him, cuddling him. They were hiding in the stairs. Eric felt Abby's tears flowed on his skin neck. The man was here, he was wearing a coat and he carried a suitcase. He opened the front door. He looked at the two children, with a glance full of regrets then he closed the door. “Eric?” Sandra asked, with a worry tone of voice. “Are you okay?”
Eric didn't answer. His throat was burning him, his eyes too because of the tears which were born.
Cook County Hospital, Chicago, Illinois:
Abby went out of the elevator with the scan in her hands. She was smiling. She couldn’t stop to look at the photo. She walked to the admit desk. Neela was wiping away something on the white board.
“Neela, look at the photo.” Abby said, happily.
Neela took the photo and smiled.
“It’s so cute.” She said.
“Did you see Luka?”
“He’s in rea.”
Abby shrugged. Suddenly, she saw Eric arrived, head lowered.
“Eric?”
“Hi.”
He smiled. Abby moved to him and took him in her arms.
“What are you doing here?” Abby asked. But she was so exciting she didn’t let him time to respond. ‘Look at your nephew… or niece.”
He didn’t take the time to look. By a sign of his head he showed outside to Abby. Abby understood he wanted to go outside. She followed him. He was silent. Abby continued.
“You don’t want to look at…”
“I saw him.”
Abby froze. She looked at Eric’s eyes. He seemed to be serious and he sounded serious.
“Who?”
Eric plunged his glance into hers, an upset glance.
“Who, Eric?”
“I didn’t remember his face… I never knew him… but when he left… I recognized him.” Abby was more and more worried. She grabbed Eric by his shoulder and shook him.
“Eric! Who?” She insisted.
“Dad.”
Abby froze. She couldn’t move anymore, she couldn’t talk anymore. She couldn’t think. Her heart beat more and more strong. She felt a wave of heat travelled inside her.
“It’s impossible.”
“I saw him. He was here, in front of me.”
“I can’t believe it.” Abby turned her glance away. She began to walk… lost… if she didn’t know where she was. Then she sat on the bench, looking straight of her.
“I can’t believe it.”
Eric sat next to her. They stayed silent for a while. Then Eric sighed.
“What will you do?”
They looked at each other. Abby seemed to be lost and more than upset. She said, icy.
“We’ll do nothing. You heard me? Nothing.”
“But.. Abby… He searched me…”
“And? Did he take care of you all these years?” She paused and answered. “No.” He wasn’t there. He wasn’t.”
“Maybe he wants to talk to us…”
“Talk? After thirty years old? I don’t want to talk especially with him.” Abby stood up. Eric sighed, plunging his head into his hands.
“He looked like very… upset… and… he didn’t know what to say.”
“It was normal what he didn’t know what to say. He abandoned us!” Abby glared at Eric when she guessed he wanted to do something.
“Eric, it’s not to you to do the first move.”
“But he did it.”
Abby rolled her eyes. “You’re not stupid! You know what he did, can you forgive him for this?”
“I want to know why he did this… just to know… why…" He paused. "I have the right to understand... to know why. We have the right..." Abby took a deep breathe. She lowered her head.
