The song is 'somebody else' by ronan keating.
I hear the laughter
I know that something specials going on
I hear the passion
You mention his name
You’re talking on the phone
And you tell your friends
That ever since he came
Everything’s different, everything’s changed
And baby we both know
What this means for you, for me
------------
Abby pressed the phone against her ear and let out a quiet little laugh.
“Yeah, its true love.” Her face was flushed and glowing in the firelight, her eyes dancing as she chatted. Luka leant against the door and felt his heart swell.
The room smelt like Christmas- spicy, and warm. The fire was combating the chill brought as the snow fell past their windows, and the fairy lights twinkled.
Feeling his presence, Abby turned her head and her eyes lit up.
“I’ll have to go, my two favourite boys have just arrived.” She said goodbye and pressed the phone off. “Hey.” Her voice was low and quiet, her hair mussed up.
“Been asleep?” Luka asked, smiling.
“Resting my eyes.” She replied, reaching inside his coat to hug him. “Have fun?”
“Oh yes, we bought loads didn’t we Joe?” The baby sighed and settled back against Luka’s shoulder.
“Oh, sleepy boy. You tired him out daddy.” Abby gently took Joe out of Luka’s full arms and began unzipping his snowsuit. He let out a small wail but on opening his eyes it turned to a smile.
“Hi, little man. Did daddy take you on your first late night shopping trip? Did he buy lots of gifts? Did he show you the lights?” Joe placed a hand on his mother’s lips and she gently kissed it. Turning it round, she pressed his palm to his mouth and laughed as he let out a loud giggle. “I love you Joe Kovac.”
“I love you Abby Lockhart.” Luka ran his palm up her spine as she bent down to remove their son from his outer-wear. She spun round, holding Joe against her and smiled. “I love you too Luka Kovac.”
“Oh, we need to get you a decent surname.” He joked, placing a kiss against her plump lips.
“All in good time.” She snuggled against him, the three of them just enjoying the closeness of each others presence.

Somebody else now
There’s someone between us
There’s somebody calling in the middle of the night, yeah
And I can't sleep now
For all of the crying, yeah
And I know when you hold him tight
He's the best part, best part of our lives
----------------
“Mom!!!” He rocketed around the corner and straight into her legs.
“Joe, I told you not to run in the kitchen. You’ll fall into the oven.” He giggled and stood still.
“I finished it!” he waved the paper above his head manically until Abby took it.
“Dear Santa…” she read, “ For Christmas this year I would like a red tricycle, a bear, a jump rope, some light-up sneakers, a reindeer, some new pants, a puppy, a mobile of Croatian diplomats, some waffle mix, a saucepan, some scales, cookie cutters and a page boy suit. Love Joseph Michael Kovac.” He looked up at her expectantly. “Well, we’ll have to see on Christmas morning won’t we?” Abby held back the giggle at the list Luka had obviously written, with picture from Joe beside each thing.
“How many days?” Abby held up two hands and let Joe count all her fingers. “10?” she nodded.
“Do you want to help me make some cornflake cakes for the party?” They were holding a kids Christmas party the next day, before enjoying a little more…adult party when the kids were asleep.
Joe didn’t bother answering, he just dragged his stool alongside Abby and hopped on. Joe loved cooking. He helped make pasta, and sauce, and mashed potatoes, and cakes, and cheese pastry and pies, and anything else either of his parents were making. Luka and Abby were baffled at where his love for the culinary arts had originated but they happily encouraged him.
They were just dropping the cornflake/chocolate mix into paper cups when Luka walked in.
“Hello, what have we here?” Joe jumped off his stool and wrapped his arms around his dad’s knees.
“We makin’ cornflake cakes!” he exclaimed, smearing chocolate on his dad’s pants. Luka laughed and swung him up onto his hip.
“Can I have one?”
“No silly, they need to set.”
“Okay, I’ll wait til tomorrow shall I?” Joe nodded.
“At the party. With Cosmo and Henry and Eva and Sam and…everyone else!!!” He squirmed from Luka’s arms and ran back to his stool. “Can I fridge them?” Abby smiled and handed him the cup laden tray.
“In they go.” She helped his slide the tray onto the bottom shelf and closed the door. “come on Joey, you need a nap.” He frowned but couldn’t suppress the yawn that escaped. “Just for a little one, then you can help make some paper chains.”
“Don’t start without me.” Luka followed them down the hall to Joe’s newly decorated room.
At 3 years old, they decided sun yellow was a little too babyish for his room and so now it was pale blue, with a proper bed and an animal border. He had a bookshelf that held his favourite books- Winnie the Pooh, Benji and the sky monster series and three childrens cook books.
Once Joe was tucked up and half way to dreamland, Luka and Abby crept out.
“So, who’s coming tomorrow?”
“Well Susan and Chuck, Cosmo and Eva. I asked Neela and Ray, Kerry and Henry and…well Carter came in while I was asking them all so he’s coming with Libby and Kyle. Don’t know if Kem is coming.”
“Okay, well I’ll pop to the store and pick up some bread, soda and plastic cups. Can you think of anything else?” Abby shook her head and reached up to kiss him.
“see you soon.” He winked and closed the door softly.
