yeah I'm still scared... I don't think he has evolved so much. I mean in Darfur he showed he still had no clue about those people's culture and didn't really listen to the others when they tried to warn him. He always did that. He maybe became a better doctor, but he didn't become a better, more sensible man...

I agree, in the ER I can't deny that he was a good doctor in the physical sense, but certainly not (I felt) in the emotional. He was always good with kids, but I felt that his emotions got in the way too often and you can't do that if you wanna be a doctor.

Carter was a good doctor and in fairness he was quite a good character until he went to Africa that it.
Its ironic that going to Africa seemed to change Luka for the good whilst it seemed to change Carter for the bad.
I like Carter pre-season 10 he wasn't as cold hearted or as cruel or as serious back then.
Now i think that Carter has morphed into a jerk from a cute ,caring medstudent.

I didnt like on Carter, that in the last seasons he had to be a "right" man.. Everything, what he said and did, was the best..

I wanted to Kill the arrogant asshole alien that took over Carter in the last season.
Now if there is one thing i hated more than Carter it was those annoying Harpies (Kem and Wendall) that he was with.
Other than the last two years Carter was funny and enjoyable.

Like I said I never liked Carter from the get-go. But you guys are totally right in that in the last few seasons, and especially in Season 11 Carter was TERRIBLE. And in a way I think that was done on purpose, so that we wouldn't miss him. And it worked

i miss pre africajourney carter. he was a great caracter IMO... although much changed after he got stabbed and became an drugaddic. he didn't develop as much as a caracter after that, and absolutely nothing after africa... alas that really isn't carters fault
they are reshowing ER from start here and i get a bit sentimental watching it.... some things really was better then...and some was not

I liked Carter in the beginning... then Luka came along and blew him out of the water. Seriously.. I'm so enjoying season 12. No Carter, more Luka... it's wonderful.

Okay watching season 6 on DVD (Currently my most precious possession) has made me see Carter in a different light.
He wasn't always an areshole or annoying ,but he was once cute ,funny and carefree .The Carter in season 6 was just hilarious and extremely goofy
That was all before the stabbing so I've realized that it wasn't Africa that changed Carter it was the stabbing and the drug addiction that followed. The Carter after the stabbing is a much more darker and serious Carter than the one before the stabbing.

yepp, gotting stabbed and becoming a druggie changed him, but then, who wouldn't have changed? in that way it's realistic... awww... poor carter.... life aint easy on him
