Because I am hearing impaired, I generally need closed captioning when action is too fast or a scene is shot in compromised lighting. Can anyone tell me if their DVD of 'Scotland PA' has closed captioning? I want to purchase it but the older version I had rented was not closed captioned. Neither was 'Oxygen'. I think they both have Portugese sub titles however....go figure.

I rented the DVD from Blockbuster and it had subtitles. Amazon sells it, and under format it says close-captioned. So if you purchase it there, you'll definitely be getting the correct version.

I bought mine from Amazon, and it doesn't have closed captioning... if closed captioning is subtitles, right?
But I bought mine from the used and new section on the English site, seeing as how it wasn't released in England... maybe what they sell on Amazon.com is different?
But... even if you can't find one with subtitles, I would say it is definitely worth getting, it's an amazing film! Also, there isn't much fast action, and I think it's quite clear... but sometimes the light is a little wonky, like in the first scene (it's quiet too), and I can't for the life of me work out what is being said, so...
Lol, I'm not much help. But I'm sure if you couldn't work out what was being said, and posted on here, people would be happy to help... I would anyway, lol.

Hee hee....my husband just came home from a Blockbuster video store. He'd called me to say they were having a dynamite '5 for $20' sale and wanted me to come and look. I HATE buying DVDs just becaues 'they're there'.....and told him to look for 'Scotland PA' and 'Oxygen'.....because I can never find them on sale anywhere. I thought it would be a deterrent for him to buy anything else. Wouldn't you know it? I am now the proud owner of a brand spanking new, never been played before copy of 'Oxygen'! LOL

I am NOT a Jim Carey fan so I don't like 'Liar, Liar' that much. When I watch it I generally fast forward to all the Maura scenes. : ) She is gorgeous there. Mooseport is a riot and she has a MUCH bigger part. My absolute FAV film for her though is 'Instinct'. Small part but she manages to steal scenes from Cuba Gooding AND Anthony Hopkins.

My favorite Maura film is Oxygen. They made that movie in like two weeks...very low budget....but her character was displayed so well! That was the movie that truly showed Maura's true colors and talent as an actress!

yeah, "dead women in lingerie" wasn't great. maura was fine, it was just a terrible script. on the other hand, "scotland pa" was BRILLIANT. and i love the scene in "welcome to mooseport" when maura and marcia gay harden are golfing drunk to win rueben. it's priceless!
