Come on people, who else already met Maura? I'd love to read about your experiences here ! i met larue from this forum in new york and we got to see the city via bus and it was fantastic. i loved three changes it was different but i loved it anyway maybe because i was sitting in the front row and maybe because my favorite actress was on stage. maura was very nice and accomidating to us i was soooooooooo nervous and had trouble speaking cause it was the first time i had met a star.... i had maura sign season 7 on my dvd set of er and welcome to mooseport... then i ask maura if i could take a picture with her luckily larue was there with the camera. all in all it was an experience i will never forget..........................

That was an AWESOME trip......and here is what I write on my blog about my first meeting with Maura: After the show I was returned the head set and retrieved my license and my friend and I were talking about how long to wait for the actors to come out. I was going through my bag looking for a picture I had made to have signed for my daughter when Maura entered the lobby from backstage. She was walking at a clip but stopped with a huge smile when I asked if she would sign something. Dang but she is cute in glasses. I handed her a pen and the picture, explaining that the top part was from an essay my daughter had written about me when she was in 4th grade…about how I ‘liked watching ‘ER’ because of a cool character named Maura Tierney and how I might get to meet my ‘cool character’ some day.’ Maura started to read it and I told her she didn’t have to do that…just sign it. She laughed and said she wanted to and then signed it for me. She had been talking to my friend about the play and was totally accommodating about having a picture taken….four times….and yet they were all out of focus. (I keep my camera on forced off flash and forgot about that…dang) I kept pulling away and she kept pulling me back. Heh.
Indie (aka Shawna) was waiting for me when I got back to the hotel. She wanted a recounting of every single little detail. Several. Times. Over. It was fun being with someone who didn’t mind that. Who has as much invested in Maura Tierney fandom as I do….well…maybe even more. We were up quite late talking about whatshesaid, whenshecameout, whatshewaswearing, howtheplaywent, howmanystayedforautographs, whatisgoingtohappentomorrow….etc.If you want to read about the entire trip, the blog posting address is here: ryterrytes.wordpress.com/2008/09/27/the-new-york-adventure/

I met Maura in September 2008, when I went to see her in 'Three Changes'. I had bought the tickets the day it was announced that she was in the show, and spent to whole summer excited to see her in person. I had been to the set of ER before (during season 7), but she was sadly not there that day I sat in the front row of course, and in 'Three Changes', when it starts, the room is completely black and you can't see a thing! And then the lights go on on stage, and Maura is just there. I had like a mini heart attack because she was right in front of my face, and she begins talking, and she was just so fascinating. I actually cried from her monologue, and my mom said that her performance was brilliant. After the play was over, I waited outside where the other cast members were signing autographs, and then I looked back into the lobby, and there she was! She looked amazing, and I was like freaking out, like "get me back in that building!". I opened the lobby doors and re-entered the building and she was standing with Dylan McDermott's parents (I found out through conversation), and they were discussing what was different from the other 2 performances they had seen. There I am, standing right next to Maura, barely able to breathe because I am so excited, and I am thinking "what the hell am I going to say?" When she was done having her conversation, I introduced myself, and when she heard that my name was Paige, she was so excited because she said those were her favorite brand of jeans (so naturally, I got very excited). I couldn't believe that I was talking with her face to face. It was so surreal. I spoke to her about her last episode of ER (which was going to air that week), and her broken wrist, which was coincidental with the broken wrist that Abby also had in ER. I had her sign my favoriteeee picture of her, which I brought with me, and my playbill as well. Then I took a photo with her, which came out blurry (thanks mom), but then she was kind enough to take another one with me. What I remember most about meeting her though, was her general sincerity, and how happy she was to meet with fans after the show (there were other girls there too). I just hope that meeting her again will be as amazing when I see her March 14th! Here are 2 pictures for you all to enjoy, the others are a little blurry: Here is Maura signing my picture: And here is the "good" one:

Wow, thank you so much for your experiences! I get all excited reading your stories about meeting Maura. Maura's such a great person and I think it would feel very surreal when I'd ever met her...

Hee hee....LOVED your story, Paige. I had no problem speaking to Dylan but got all tonuge tied with Maura. Go figure. And it must be nice to be Maura. $200 jeans??? My Princess and I get excited when we can find HER favorite jeans on sale for $30. LOL
One bit of advice for people going to see her in a play, if you can swing it, go during the week. The crowd is generally thinner and chances are you would have more time for an actual conversation with the actors. Just sayin.....

Love all the great stories of folks meeting her and having such a great experience with her. I'm trying to figure out what to take to have her sign. I'm trying to decide between her "Scotland, Pa" poster, that issue of The Improper Bostonian with the gorgeous shot of her on the cover, a few 8x10 pics I have, and maybe my season 7 or 12 ER dvds. I'd love to take a boatload of stuff, but I don't quite think it'd be fair to ask her to sign 10 things, LOL. Of course, I'd be okay with not having her sign anything as long as I can get a pic *with* her.

I had her sign an autograph for my daughter the first night. On the second, a note to my principal excusing me for missing school (a joke Dylan LOVED but Maura didn't seem to get)....and my 'Oxygen' dvd. She hesitated and gave me a wierd look when I handed that to her. Not sure why.
