Thanks guys!! Chapter 42Maggie stood there with a smile on her face, but obviously very shocked. Abby motioned for her to come inside. "So, I brought you girls presents." Maggie said as she set them down under the tree with the rest of them. At least she was on her meds, Abby thought. It was easy to tell when she was and when she wasn't, and this time, she definitely was. Everyone gathered in the living room and started tearing open boxes, ripping up wrapping paper, the normal things you do on Christmas to open a gift. After about an hour of this, there was nothing more left under the tree except a few pine needles. "Abby? Could we talk for a minute in the kitchen?" Maggie asked her quietly. "Sure." Neela helped Abby up from the sofa, and Abby led the way into the kitchen with Maggie following her. "Were you planning on telling me you were pregnant, again?" Maggie asked in a very stern voice. "I don't know, since when do you just show up here without calling?" "I wanted to make it a surprise, it's been awhile and I didn't want to just call you and say, oh yeah I'll be over for Christmas." Abby frowned. "Okay, well the truth was I was going to call you, really soon, it's just I've had so much going and that I barely had time to do anything for myself lately. Look, I'm sorry, alright!" Abby's hormones started to get the best of her because all of a sudden, she just broke down in tears into her mothers arms. Maggie comforted her as she sobbed. "Shhhhh, shhhh, it's okay. I'm not mad, it's just I wished you would tell me these things as soon as you find out. I know I wasn't the perfect mother to grow up with, but I'm trying to make that up now. I want to be a perfect grandma for your kids." Abby smiled hearing her mothers words. She rarely heard something this sweet come out of her. "Mom, could I ask you a favor?" Abby said as she was wiping the tears away from her face with a tissue. "Yes?" Maggie responded. "I want you to stay, I want you to be here when he's born. Chances are, this is the last baby that I'm having, and every mother deserves to be by her daughters side while giving birth at least once." Abby couldn't believe that she had just said that. All the times that she had told her mom just to go away, now she's asking her to stay here for the next few months and be there when the baby's born? Tears started to pile up in Maggie's eyes. She grabbed her daughter for another hug. "Of course I will Abby, you know that." They walked back into the living room where everyone was talking to eachother again. Abby felt the baby kick. He was really strong. April couldn't come any faster.

Thanks guys! Sorry this chapter's short, I'll have another one later. Chapter 432 months later- March 1stMaggie had left for the time being. Today was the day though that she was coming back. Abby was due in a month, but Maggie wanted to be there a month ahead, just in case anything would happen. "I should be back within 2 hours, I'll call you if anything changes," Abby says as she grabs her purse and heads for the door. Dani, Bella, Joe, and Luka were fixing up a portion of the basement for Maggie to stay in while she was visiting. They just had a little more work to do before she came, so they thought it would be best just for Abby to go to the airport and pick her up. As Abby got into her car, she placed her hands on the steering wheel and closed her eyes. From this moment until the baby got there, she would have to deal with her mom. It wasn't a bad thing. It was actually kind of good. Maggie could spend some time with Dani and Bella, even Joe. After all, she barely see's them anymore. Abby got on the ramp to get onto route 94. She never liked taking the highways, especially with all the traffic going towards the airport. After a few minutes of being on the highway, she pulled off to the shoulder to let the cops go past. Abby wondered if there was an accident ahead of her. It really didn't matter, she was getting off in 2 miles anyway. She approached the exit that she needed to get off at. When she came around the corner, her eyes filled with fear. There was a crash, and everything went black.

Thanks guys! Don't worry Suzanne, in the end, everything's going to be fine. Chapter 44She could hear the sound of voices. Firefighters, Paramedics, and probably witnesses of the crash. Was she dying? This was the kind of pain that no one could try to describe. She was still in pain, but yet, it was peaceful. Her car was on it's side, and she could tell that the whole front was totaled. There had to be something going into her right leg, it was so numb. She managed to move her neck, maybe she could see what was going on. Nope, nothing. She couldn't manage to move her body to move and look the way she wanted to look. A saw started to chop away at the car, which was good. That meant soon, she would be out of there. After about 20 minutes, the firefighters and paramedics managed to get her out of the car. Now she felt the pain. It was awful. All down her right leg and into her stomach. Her stomach, the baby. He had to be okay. After all these months of preparing, she couldn't loose him now. The ambulance ride to county was very fast, literally. The sirens were on and they were speeding through red lights. Were her injuries that bad? She couldn't see, but she had a feeling that they had arrived at county. The ambulance was coming to a stop, and she could hear familiar voices outside. Sam was it? Yes, it was her. Abby knew her voice anywhere. They came to a complete stop and the doors of the ambulance opened. Before the paramedics could speak and give her description, Morris spoke up. "Oh god, Abbs." He was out there, accompanied by Brenner, Neela, and Sam. They rushed her into trauma 1, and within a few seconds, she heard monitors beeping like crazy. After a few minutes of all the doctors in the room rushing around her, things calmed down a little. "Abby, listen to me, your baby is it a lot of danger right now, you might need a C-section.," Neela said to her. Abby could barely speak, she had an oxygen mask over her face, and was out of breath. "No, I don't want it." "Well, we may not have a choice." Neela was trying to warn her, before anything terrifying happens. "Dr. Coburn will be down soon to check you out, alright?" Abby nodded her head as Neela walked away. At that point, Abby didn't care about herself, just the baby. She didn't even bother asking Neela what her injuries were. She knew that she was hurt, and would need some sort of surgery that day. "Abby, I called Luka, he'll be here soon, okay?," Sam told her in a very calm voice. Abby smiled. She was still in a lot of pain, but it would make her feel a lot better for Luka to be there. Abby didn't know when Sam called Luka, but within a couple of minutes, he was running through the trauma room doors. "Hey." He grabbed her left hand, which was full of tubes connecting her to machines, and kissed it. "Luka, the accident, it wasn't my fault..." "Shhhh, shhhh, it's okay, I know it wasn't your fault. And don't worry about your mom, she called me and said her flight was delayed until tomorrow anyway, I figured I'd fill her in when she got here so she wouldn't panic." Abby and Luka exchanged glances. He was so happy that she was alright. He couldn't imagine loosing her, not after loosing Danijela. Just after he thought that, Abby screamed out in pain. "Ahhhhhhhh!!!!! Oh god!!!" Luka looked at Abby worriedly. Brenner and Morris came running in from the next room, and Sam rushed to her side. "What, what is it?," Morris asked her. "Ahh, I think, I think it's a contraction."

Thanks guys! Just a little note, when Abby had Joe, everything happened except the hysterectomy. Yes, part of this I did get out of Season 14's episode, Truth Will Out, I thought it would be a good storyline for Abby. Once again, I am not good with my medical knowledge, so this chapter might be a little confusing. Chapter 45Neela was paged back into the room. Abby was still screaming out in pain. Neela checked Abby, and could see an arm. "We need to get her to an OR, and now." Everyone rushed out of the room and towards the elevator. "Wait, what's going on?," Abby asked, very concerned." Neela looked down at Abby. "You need a C-Section, there's no other way." Dr. Coburn exited the elevator when it opened. "Oh, god, what the hells going on?" Neela tried to explain everything to her, and what their plan was, but it wouldn't work. "No, it's not going to work. The OR's are all booked." "Can't we just do a vaginal birth?," Sam asked, trying to make things go easier. "Her leg, remember?" Brenner informed Sam. Dr. Coburn thought for a minute, Abby needed surgery, and fast. If they were going to save both her and the baby, they needed to do a C-section. "Okay, um, we're doing a c-section, now, here in the ER. If we wait it will put her at risk for an abruption, which she is already at risk for since she had one before." Since Morris has to argue with everything, he had to speak up. "Well, wouldn't it be much safer to do it up in the OR?" He cares about Abby, but in his opinion, he would rather have her up in the OR instead of down here, where anything could happen to her. "Morris, listen to me! We could do it now or wait til both the mom and the baby are both hypoxic or dead." At first, Dr. Coburns voice was very loud, but it narrowed down into a soft quiet voice. They all rushed Abby back into the trauma room. Luka followed by her side, holding her hand all the way. "What the hell is going on here? Have you people made up your frigging minds yet?" Luka's voice was stern. He wanted to know what was going on, and he needed to know now. As all the doctors took Abby back into the room, Dr. Coburn took Luka aside right outside the doors. "We need your consent for this." Janet handed Luka a clipboard with a paper on it consenting for surgery. He read through it, but not sure whether to sign it right away or not. "Luka, you have to trust me on this one. Now, I know you heard me explain what could happen to Morris. She's barely conscious right now and you just need to think of what she would want." Luka quickly scribbled his signature onto the paper, and handed it back over to Janet. Luka followed Dr. Coburn back into the room. He walked over to Abby's side and grabbed her hand. She was barely conscious. Her head was turned to the side, and her eyes were closed. "L.L...Luka..." She was trying to talk, but it was very hard for her. Something was going on that was making her body shut down, and they had a feeling it had something to do with the baby. Luka knelt down, and pulled the oxygen mask away from her face so she could talk. "I..If something happens to me, take care of the baby, tell Joe, Dani, and Bella I love them." Luka grasped Abby's hand tightly. "Abby, nothing's going to happen to you, your going to be just fine." He tried to reassure Abby, along with himself, but the truth was, he wasn't sure if she was going to be okay. But right now, he really had to comfort her. "Luka, just tell them." Her voice started to get scratchy, as if she needed more air. Luka played the mask back over her face and nodded. Everythings going to be alright.

Thanks! Again, not good with my medical knowledge, so it might be a bit confusing!Chapter 46Luka was holding Abby's hand as she was being cut open. He could tell it frightened the both of them. Luka watched as Dr. Coburn pulled the baby out of Abby's stomach. He watched as they took him over and started to work on him. Luka only hoped that he would be a fighter, just like Joe was. As they were getting ready to take him up to the NICU, Luka bent down and kissed Abby's and and whispered into her ear, Volim te. She was asleep, they were going to intubate her soon. Luka knew that she would want him to go with the baby. He began to follow the NICU team out of the room, but stopped to tell Dr. Coburn something. "Janet," he began, but she spoke up before he could finish his question. "Don't worry Luka, I'll call you if things get any worse." Luka ran out of the room to catch up to them before they got in the elevator. He did, but as they were getting in the elevator, Dr. Crenshaw came out and walked into trauma 1. "Dr. Coburn we have tried paging you 3 times now, apparently you booked an OR and the team as been waiting for over 20 minutes." "Well does it look like I could have moved her 20 minutes ago?" They covered Abby's wound with drapes and began moving her to the elevators. She wasn't exactly stable, but it would be better for them to be doing this upstairs in the OR rather than down in the ER. 2 hours laterAbby was now in the ICU, they still needed to fix her leg, but they needed Luka's consent for that. Dr. Coburn walked into the NICU to find Luka. She had to tell him about Abby's condition. Janet walked up behind him and patted his shoulder. "Luka, we need to talk. Dr. Dubenko needs your consent to put 4 pins into her leg, it's broken in too many places to heal on it's own." She handed a consent form over to him. He scribbled his signature on it, and handed it back over to her. "Another thing Luka, Abby's bleeding, we couldn't stop it. There was no other choice. I had to do a hysterectomy." Luka's face was frozen. Janet patted his arm again. "Would you like to go see her before they take her back in?" Luka nodded his head, and followed her to the ICU. They stopped before they entered. "She's intubated. We're going to keep her like that until she wakes up after the surgery." They walked into the room, and Abby was the first patient on the right. Luka grabbed a chair and sat next to her. He began to kiss her hand and whisper to her in Croatian. "Take as much time as you need, They'll be in to take her shortly." Janet walked out of the room. There were a million thoughts going through Luka's head. Why did this happen? Everything was always bad luck for him. He couldn't loose her now though. They have a beautiful family, he can't loose her. A few nurses came to take Abby to the OR. Luka kissed her hand once more before they parted. To pass the time, Luka decided to walk over to the Jumbo Mart and get a cup of coffee. While he was there, he ran into Pratt. Greg was always there for him. Even though they didn't see eye to eye most of the time, Greg was still there to help in the times he needed him. "Hey, I heard about Abby, how's she doing?" "Not so good, she's just going in for another surgery now. They need to put a few pins in her leg. She's a fighter though, she'll pull through." They walked back into the hospital together. It had been 45 minutes since Luka left Abby. he decided to go back upstairs and watch the rest of the surgery.
