Both treated women like crap. (Steve raped Sam/Gates 'shared' a stoned Meg with her husband) Alex's dad is dead. Looks like Alex's dad might win.

Why does Neel have to be with anyone? It has been kind of fun watching her find her grounding as a doctor and a surgeon. Looking back at her ealrier episodes I saw a Neela with a contstant frown. What a nice bit of character development to see her laughing and enjoying things....being a solid friend....being dismayed with Jaspreet's behavior...and yes, mentoring that bit of pliable playdoh dork we have in Harold. And we have seen her with Michael...with Ray.....with Dubenko.....with Gates. I am not all that sure that she is comfortable doing the romantic bit. It never comes off as real. I think that's a good point of view. Neela was quite boring at the beginning of the season, but then became funny with her relation with Harold, the short storyline of her cousin (the speech to Harold and Archie was priceless), and she's good at her job. so she doesn't need any relationship for the moment, and I don't think she's looking for something. But we all know TPTB, and they like doctors dating others doctors, nurses, paramedics...so we can have a little more drama so wait and see...(if we have the chance to see the end of this season a day)

I think even if the writer's strike ends, there won't be a finished season, they'll just get to work on a 15th.
We're only two months away from where they normally have their episodes written for the rest of the season, if the strike doesn't end soon they won't have time to write and shoot the rest of the season. Plus I think the actors are planning to strike in June when their contracts end if this whole internet revenue thing isn't sorted out.

Ah...perceptive. The internet revenues thing is HUGE and I really didn't realize it until my children received video ipods for Christmas. We are just ONE household and spent a wad of gift card monies downloading the 'promo' episodes the producers are talking about. And I agree....after the writers come the actors and then the directors and then the musicians and then the cameramen and then set designers.........sigh.

Also if you go to nbc.com and the other network sites you can watch entire episodes on the websites. NBC doesn't do it for ER, but they do for other shows. They all have "commercials" and are sponsored by products just like the normal shows we watch on TV. The money made on those ads are how shows make money and it trickles down to the writers and actors.
On the internet sites, the networks are keeping all the revenue themselves and not sharing the proceeds with the writers and actors. That's a lot more money than the 1.99 downloads from itunes.

I'm really not liking the episode so far, I was hoping the lethal injection storyline would be better. The surgeon's entrance in the hockey game made me laugh though.
I really like the scene with the Chaplan though. Reyko rules.

I have to agree. I was hoping that whole lethal injection bit would play out better. And I think old Julia is gone after this. Sad. I was liking her but not with Gates. Heh....'you were probably in a post coital stupor.' Liked Neela and the hockey game though. It was fun. Stamos has GOT to get a better sense of facial expression. That half closed eyes mouth open thing seems to be the best he can do. And, I missed my Luby fix.

I'd rather them be off in Croatia fixing their marriage than sitting at County waiting for Chopper the Third to land on someone. Oh dear, you really made me laugh with this one!!!

To all ER fans: I've been working with Amnesty International in response to the death penalty issue in "Atonement." As part of the campaign, AI is encouraging people to write letters to the editor (newspaper, TV Guide, People, anything and everything) about the death penalty in America. Here's a sample letter, which you can feel free to tweak and send in: SAMPLE LETTER FOR RESPONSE TO ER EPISODE: Dear editor, Last night on ER, the story focused on a doctor who had participated in lethal injection executions and was overwhelmed with guilt. This reminded me of the Supreme Court hearing earlier this month, where the question of whether or not lethal injection is cruel and unusual punishment was discussed. I realize that ER is fiction, but the fact of doctor participation in executions in this country is all too real. Doctors should definitely not be participating in executions. They are supposed to save lives, not take them. In fact, not just doctors, but all the health professions (anesthesiologists, nurses, EMTs, etc.) have specific positions against participating in executions. Health professionals can express their opposition to being asked to take part in executions by signing Amnesty International's Declaration on the Participation of Health Personnel in the Death Penalty, which is on their website at: www.amnestyusa.org/abolish . Sincerely, (Your Name) Additionally, there will be an event in the SoCal area in February, including a re-screeing of the episode and some guest speakers (TBA). I'll keep you all posted. - Maggie

I only liked the hockey storyline. >:(It was too jarring to go back and forth and the patient seemed like it was part of another show all together. And can we never have to see Harold shirtless again? Yuck.

I really wasn't going to say anything about this, more because I wasn't going to watch it...but now I'm glad I did!
It's just...a feeling this show gives you...to know all the (or most) characters, some you like some you don't...I have to admit it, they've been playing these roles for so long one you might think they're real people, with real history...well...it doesn't apply to Skye or..Betina but still.
I like Pratt a lot but I don't think that's news, although I would really like him to start being more serious when it comes to women. The Truman story was good but I couldn't care less about the boy or his mother (like someone else said, bad, bad acting).
Morris actually made me laugh when he said Neela slept with him but the hockey scenes seemed from a totally different show. But I like the cast coming together for almost anything...and it was nice to see some playing around...Mark played hockey...the episode with the baseball game was great...Again, anything that makes the cast or part of it come together is good.
Gates and Sam....it felt like "The Human Shield" story Luka and Abby had. But they managed to annoy me, surprisingly even more than the Harold stuff. And is it me or Sam's hairdo makes her face seem all round and not that pretty? He's just stupid and with too much hair gel (and his hair was like Luka's in the episode mentioned above).
I think that the major problem this show has is that too many characters left. Imagine Susan, Romano...Gallant...even Carter, Weaver...etc...with the same storylines. It would've been better because people didn't have enough time to get to know and feel something for many of the remaining cast. I mean...Lucien has been there for what? 4 years? But he's only in the background and there was no development...too bad. Four years after Abby and Luka joined the cast everyone knew almost everything about them.
And Harold...I haven't seen his scenes yet but from what I've read I'm going to need Zelda's comments to get me through.
Oh...one more thing...the chaplain...Where's Bishop Stewart when you need him? Well..apart from being dead...and all...

All in all considering this was an episode without Abby, i throughly enjoyed from start to finish. All the characters had a good story-lines, a good mixture of comical, sad moments. I love the hockey scenes, they all brought a smile to my face! the end with them all in the bath was very funny! and i didn't even mined Sam and Gates getting together, i actually thought it was quite sweet, just as long as the writers are not trying to turn them into the next Luka and Abby!
Speaking of Maura, I was thinking that this is the second episode this season that she hasn't appeared been in and i wonder how many more there will be? I know there are others characters that haven't appeared in every episode and am just speculating here but am wondering if the TPTB are trying to faze out her character so that if season 15 does materialize and she doesn't stay on, we get used to an ER without her? it wouldn't be so much of a shock! IMO, her leaving would be a great loss to the show and i have said on a number of occasion's, that i may quite watching the show if she does decided to leave (although her character leaving would mean Luby having a happy ending, which i want so badly). However, these last few episode minus Abby have been very enjoyable and very well written. And if it stay this way i would continue to watch the show.
