Since I watch my season 6-10 dvds constantly - there are a couple of things I've always wondered about.
1. Why didn't Abby take Richard back to court to get him to pay her tuition? If he was in violation of their divorce agreement, she easily could have. I guess it would've cost money she didn't have, and it fit the pattern of her giving up when obstacles got in her way (which she talked about in Abby Normal) but still...I wish she had followed through on her threat because I think she could've easily won.
2. Why, after Abby had been such a good friend to her, did Weaver try to tamper with the match process after she found out Abby failed her boards? I know Weaver was cutthroat when it came to management, but that scene has always rang false for me.
Anybody else have any burning, unanswered questions? LOL

But the second one, between Kerry and Abby. I never fully understood that scene. I was always under the impression she was trying to do Abby a favour?? I take it am wrong??

Can't wait to hear your question when you think of it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the deal was that Abby had ranked County as her first choice. And County had ranked Abby high enough so that if she passed her boards, that's where she would end up working. But if County chose her and she *hadn't* passed her boards, she wouldn't be able to practice, so that meant that they would be short a doctor. Kerry found out that Abby hadn't passed, so she was "suggesting" to Abby that she change her top choice from County to another hospital so that Abby would match at *that* hospital and *that* hospital would be short a doctor. And the fact that she was even having that discussion with Abby was against the rules. So, to me, it felt like Weaver was trying to save County's butt and was sort of throwing Abby under the bus - and I think that's how Abby felt too since the conversation seemed to piss her off and she threatened to call the medical board about it. If Kerry had had that conversation with anyone else, I wouldn't have given it a second thought, but Abby was always such a good and supportive friend to her, it took me by surprise.

I think Weaver couldn´t resist. It´s like the scorpion tale:
A scorpion was walking along the bank of a river, wondering how to get to the other side. Suddenly, he saw a fox. He asked the fox to take him on his back across the river.
The fox said, "No. If I do that, you'll sting me, and I'll drown."
The scorpion assured him, "If I do that, we'll both drown."
The fox thought about it and finally agreed. So the scorpion climbed up on his back, and the fox began to swim. But halfway across the river, the scorpion stung him. As poison filled his veins, the fox turned to the scorpion and said, "Why did you do that? Now you'll drown, too."
"I couldn't help it," said the scorpion. "It's my nature."
Only at the very end she was able to grow and be a better person.

Maybe Kerry expected Abby to do better as she admired her. Sometimes when one has expectations, they push....

I watched "Abby Road" and "Be Still My Heart" last night - I had forgotten Abby's comment that she hadn't smoked in two years. Made me think of when Richard told Luka that the last time she'd tried to quit, she got addicted to the nicotine gum. I think I'm one of the few Abby fans who didn't hate Richard, though LOL.

Sorry Tara, I never understood the Abby Weaver conversation either. Good thing, you asked your question here though. I have a question too but I need to check some clips first. My question is about Abby's appartment. I'll be back about it

My question is about Abby's appartment. I'll be back about it Martine, I am wonder if we are thinking the same thing? ( tara, this could be my question too!!) in season 12, 'if not now', at the beginning of this episode they pan in, on her apartment, which appears to be on the first floor, but in seasons 7 and 8 it was very much on the second (possibly 3rd) floor? In the episode 'Blood, sugar, sex, magic', and she and carter went upstairs to get her to place. and also tara, i didn't hate Richard, either

That's the one I was thinking of, Christabelle! LOL. I suppose they did it just so they could get that opening shot of the woman and little boy throwing their tree out and then panning to Luka taking the ornaments of off his and Abby's tree - but I can never watch that scene without it bugging me that Abby has never lived on the first floor LOL
And that reminds me of two other things!
In "Homecoming", Richard says he's paying for the house, two cars (Abby's cars - that's another thing that kept changing early on LOL), and Abby's condo. Is the kind of apartment Abby lived in considered a condo in Chicago? I have a friend who lives in a condo in DC and it's much, much nicer than the place Abby lived. And if Richard was paying for her place and her car, why was she always concerned about money? LOL
The other thing is the disappearing gate in front of her building. Early on - like when she helps Joyce - there wasn't a gate. Then one appeared and disappeared during the Carby days. It re-appeared when she came home to find Jake waiting for her, and then it disappeared again in "If Not Now." LOL

Well, I don´t know the answers of your questions. But you are right about all the inconsistances (is this a word in english?).
Anyway, I do have a question. When the cut a scene, it is because of time or they changed their minds about the development of the story.
For example: in spoilers, Abby talked about her mother and brother and the bipolar thing with Jake, but it was cutted. Does it mean they changed their mind and decided their relationship wasn´t suposed to be so deep? Or was just a time thing?
The other scene they let off - it was filmed - was Abby calling Luka - after their terrible break up- and Nicole answering the call....

Anyway I've checked some clips and it looks to me that she lived indeed on the first floor in S8. You can check it in these clips: Blood, Sugar Sex Magic: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXFf1PqsWC0Only 1 stair they go up but no windows in the wall Beyond Repair #1: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjQcyGX5SYQOnly 1 stair she comes down but windows in the wall Beyond Repair #3: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQ6281s5A2AOn the outside of her apartment there are 8 steps on the stair A Simple Twist of Fate #1: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TL8q7PZPMCYOn the outside there are still 8 steps on the stair where she finds Joyce But what I don't understand is this in 'Walk like a Man': www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkStptjDaCkThe outside is totally different with a little fence And yes, Tara, in S11 when she kissed Jake at her front door it looked different again: the stoop is bigger, there is also a little fence and about 8 steps on the stair, there is suddenly an apartment number 925 and the door and lights look different. I realise that houses can change over a period of 5 years but then again in S12 with Luka it totally looks like her S8 apartment again ?

When the cut a scene, it is because of time or they changed their minds about the development of the story. You're right, Sissa, I guess my questions are more inconsistencies than anything LOL And as you said, in terms of what gets cut, I think sometimes it *is* a matter of time, and sometimes it's a matter of them changing their minds about story. I always avoided ER spoilers, I didn't know there was an Abby/Jake spoiler like that. Do you remember any of the details about it? As for why they cut it, I guess it could have been either reason, but I think they did want to show that Abby wasn't as into the relationship as he was, so having her share something personal like that probably didn't make a lot of sense in terms of the story they wanted to tell. Thank god they left that scene out because it just made me want to punch Luka LOL

But i never realized the outside of the apartment had changed so much, why have i never notice this before?? And it's an obvious continuity error, surely TPTB should have noticed this too?? But then again maybe the owner of the building wasn't sure if he liked the fence or not, lol edit: 'Walk like a man' her apartment has a fence/gate but a few episodes later, in 'next of kin' the fence/gates has gone also, in season 11, there are no window on the front door, 7,8 and 12 there is?? 8 and 12 the doors are green!! 9, 11 the doors are black!! it makes me laugh
