Thanks guys, here's a new update!! Chapter 14 Abby sat back down in the waiting room chair and laughed incredulously, “Of course I am.” She shook her head, and avoided Weaver and Luka’s eyes. Abby couldn’t help but feel slightly betrayed by Luka. He had wanted this baby in the first place. However, it wasn’t technically his fault, and it especially wasn’t the baby’s fault. Abby stood back up and asked Weaver. “But what about Hannah? What about her? Do we just let her die?” Her voice was shaking wildly, but it was strong and full of accusation. “Of course not,” Weaver told her evenly. “But you can’t donate when you’re pregnant. The stress would be too much for the baby.” “But there could be a chance that it would be okay, wouldn’t there? I mean, I can’t just let my daughter die,” Abby stated strongly. “Abby, you aren’t suggesting…” Luka began, but was quickly cut off by Abby. “I don’t know what I am suggesting,” Abby confessed, she turned to Luka. “But I can’t let Hannah die. She’s my daughter.” “Will you two just calm down for a moment,” Weaver cut in. Luka and Abby turned toward Weaver waiting for an explanation. “There is still hope for another donor.” “No,” Abby told her. “She was already on a list, and her donor died. She doesn’t have the time…” “I mean in this hospital.” As Weaver began to explain, the intern, Casey West, brought Lexy and Luke to Weaver. Weaver raised her eye brows at the intern and put her hands on her hips. “I thought I told you to wait until I paged you,” Weaver scolded, as Lexy and Luke pulled out of Casey’s hands and ran to their parents. “They were whining,” Casey explained, as she pulled on her red locks. “I was so over it. And don’t you think that my time would be better spent somewhere else?”, she complained Weaver looked the girl up and down, but decided against more scolding. She would have made her go to the pit, but apparently that was better than watching to little kids. “Fine, to triage.” “Thank you, Dr. Weaver!” The girl called as she rushed off. “Mommy, this is supposed to be our time with you,” Luke pointed out to his mother. “Where have you been? We had to hang out with Dr. West, and she was boooorrring!” Luke said, exaggerating the word boring as Lexy nodded her head. “She was like ‘blah blah blah’ this and ‘blah blah blah’ that. You know, she kind of reminded me of Aunt Neela. I don’t think she has much experience with kids.” “Probably not,” Abby agreed with a weak smile. Lexy quickly noticed her mother’s blotchy eyes. “Mommy?” Lexy questioned, “What’s the matter?”

Thanks so much guys, here's a new chapter!! Chapter 15 Abby shook her head, and pretended like she had no clue what Lexy was talking about, “Nothing sweetie. It’s just been a bad day for Mommy, but you’ll be able to go home soon with Daddy, okay?” “Not quite yet,” Weaver interrupted, getting confused glances from Luka and Abby. “Lex and Luke go sit over there for a moment so I can talk to your daddy and your mommy.” Lexy nodded, but Luke held onto Luka’s hand tight. Lexy was a lot more out going than Luke. Luke had been the one that cried every day the first month of kindergarten, had yet to sleep over at a friend’s house, and who carried his stuffed bear everywhere. He had not liked staying with everyone else this afternoon, and he was tired, and wanted to be with his parents now. Luka, knowing his son, bent down next to him and gave him a wide smile. “Buddy,” he started, “you’ll just be over there, and with Lexy. Mommy and Daddy aren’t going anywhere else without you, today, okay? Can you be a big boy for Daddy?” Luke bit the inside of his lip, but he nodded. “Good.” As Lexy and Luke walked around, Abby looked back at Weaver waiting for an explanation. “You said there might be another donor?” Abby asked, hope on the edge of her lips. “Yes, two,” Weaver said, “right over there,” as she pointed at Lexy and Luke. “Lexy and Luke?” Luka questioned. “Yes, they are Hannah’s half-siblings. Granted, they aren’t a full sibling, so the chances aren’t as great, but there is still a chance that one, if not both, could be a match.” Weaver explained. “Do you think, um, do you think that one might be a match, Kerry?” Abby questioned. “I do, I mean, it’s a stretch, but it can’t hurt to try,” Weaver told her. “And if they aren’t a match, what then?” Luka asked, looking to Abby for an answer, but Weaver answered it for him. “We’ll cross that bridge if we get to it,” Weaver stated strongly. “So does this mean that you want to test Lexy and Luke and see if either one could donate to Hannah?” Weaver questioned. Abby almost blurted out a yes, but she looked to Luka for conformation. He was their father, and he needed to be on board with this too. Bone marrow donation was a big deal; it wasn’t like getting a hair cut. “Yes,” Luka told Weaver. “Let’s test them. Hannah is their sister, and she needs their help. Of course we want to test them.”

Thanks guys, here'a another chapter!! Chapter 16 Abby sat and watched as Lexy and Luke played in the small playing area in the waiting room. As they waited for the test results to see if either was a match for Hannah, Luka had gone to get something for them all to snack on. It was 7:30 and only an hour before the kids’ bedtime, and Abby could tell that they were getting restless. They weren’t use to staying at the hospital this long. By now they had usually eaten dinner and taken baths and were watching their favourite Disney channel show. “Mommy?” Lexy asked as she stood up from the floor and pulled on her side pony tail. Lexy insisted on wearing her long curly locks on the side and up in a ponytail. She rarely let her mother do anything different with her hair, unless Abby could convince her that it would be what Tinkerbell would do. Lexy’s green plaid jumper was all twisted about, and Abby wondered absentmindedly if she had gotten the kids uniforms ready for the next day. “What sweetie?” “Can we go yet?” Lexy questioned. “Not yet, why don’t you see which of you can build the tallest building,” Abby suggested, knowing that her children loved competition. It was another trait they had inherited from their parents. “Okay.” As Lexy and Luke began their buildings, Kerry walked up to Abby with the test results in her hand. She motioned to Abby to come forward to her. “Where’s Luka?” she asked Abby, as she looked around for him. “He went to get a little snack. Is one of them a match?” Abby questioned. “Yes,” Weaver informed her, as she shifted the files in her hand, “Lexy is a match.” Abby breathed a sigh of relief. “And she can donate?” Abby questioned, before getting her hopes completely up. “Yes,” Weaver reassured her. “She’ll be able to donate to Hannah.”

Here's a new chapter guys, thanks for the comments!! Chapter 17 Kerry pulled two sheets of paper out of the folders and then began again, “Abby, there is something off that I found when testing Luke and Lexy, now I realize that this is probably none of my business, and if so, just tell me to shut up, but…” Kerry paused as she gave Abby the papers. “They aren’t full siblings. They have different fathers.” Kerry watched Abby’s face, to see if this was news to her, but Abby seemed more embarrassed than shocked. “I know,” Abby confessed, looking up from the papers. “Luka knows too, but Luke doesn’t and Lexy doesn’t, or anyone else for that matter, and we don’t plan for anyone to know. It was a stupid one night stand. And Luka is Luke’s father, he’s raised him. Don’t tell anyone, please. It’s not something Luka or I want leaked out.” Abby’s voice was hushed and shaky, as she eyed around making sure that no nosey nurses were lingering about. This was not something that she had thought about. Had it been any other situation, Abby would have thought ahead. But all her thoughts had been on Hannah and making her better. She hadn’t thought about her biggest secret getting out. “I won’t say anything,” Kerry said trying to put Abby at ease. She could tell this was a big deal; this was not any ordinary secret. “Thank you.” “Hey, what’s up?” Luka asked as he walked up to Weaver and Abby. “Lexy’s a match,” Abby told him relieved, and then she turned to Weaver, “when will we start?” “First thing tomorrow morning. Why don’t you four go home and process your day? And then come back tomorrow around seven?” “Okay,” Luka said, taking Abby’s shaking hand. Kerry walked away and Lexy and Luke came running over to them. “Can we go yet? Please?” Luke questioned as he hugged on his teddy bear. “Yes, we can,” Luka told him taking his hand and giving him a huge smile. Abby picked up Lexy and her head immediately hit Abby’s shoulder. Abby rubbed her back and kissed her lightly on the cheek. “Let’s go home,” she said. Lexy pulled up her head and looked Abby questioningly in the eyes. “Are you coming home, too mommy?” “Yes.” “Yay! Mommy and Daddy are both going to be home on a school night!” Lexy exclaimed. “Will you both read us stories?” “Sure, if you’re awake when we make it home,” Luka told them. “Yay!!”
