Well, I am a little surprised that she is doing a cancer arc, but I shouldn't be. Maura is one of the most daring actors I have ever had the pleasure to watch. I know she said that she didn't want her life during her cancer treatment to be filmed, but I think this is a little bit different. She won't be her cancer-self playing another character, she'll be her cancer-free-self playing a character with cancer.
With "Parenthood" she was just finding out about it; she was on the other side of the fence. I think her illness would have possibly colored how she played Sarah. Now she is on the other side of the cancer; she knows what has happened, so she can use it to play another character better. I think it will be easier to do than to play Sarah, although that doesn't mean it will be easy to play. It will likely be even a little cathartic, a way to show her fans a sliver of what she went through without having to actually spell it out for us. I think it is the best thing she could have done, and I admire her immensely for it!
It also sounds like Emmy work in the making....

I couldn´t agree more, Elocindancer. I also believe she approved not only the arc, but the scripts of those four episodes too - it must be really good. Can´t wait to watch it.

WAUWWWW!!! As we all know that show cannot be spicy in the absence of this hottie actress, who has single handedly brightened the stint. Ohhhh nooozzz You need to pay for it.... But I rly rly wanted to do it. I don't own a creditcard, I only have Ideal. But it's better for me or else I couldn't stop myself and pay for everything to get even just a ineeminee tiny piece of information about Maura But would that be the new epi, that only will be aired next year?? ?! Thanks Martine!!! Oh my.. I RLY wanna pay for it!!!!

I think it is actual submissions, I'm bummed that Kathy Griffin is not listed for SVU, but I digress. It's says offical Emmy submisison, so I would say it is the real deal. Maura stands an excellent chance for a nod. I would pick Maura, Ann-Margret & Rosie Perez for SVU, Elizabeth Moss for Mercy, and Vanessa Redgrave for Nip/Tuck, which, unfortunally, will hurt M's chances for a win. But, with what Maura has went through, maybe the Emmy voters will pull their heads out of rear ends and honor Maura with an Emmy.

Those are some great choices! As soon as I saw Lily Tomlin's name on the list, I felt like she'd probably get it for her work on Damages since I saw so many critics praising her the last couple of months. Guess we'll have to just keep our fingers crossed on July 8th - I assume they'll do the guest nominations on the same day as the regular noms. But maybe next year is the year our girl is meant to get it, considering the story they have planned for her. (And I love Kathy Griffin! I've seen her live three times - the last time was just a few weeks ago, she's awesome! )

This could be very exciting to watch progress - let's cross our fingers that our girl gets nominated! The Emmy's are in August this year instead of September!

Don't quote me on this, but I think this massive list will be reduced to 10 names and then down to five when the nominations are announced. The guest star Emmy will not be announced on TV, but the list will be released after the main nods are announced.
Off topic, but I hope Taylor Swift gets a nod for hosting SNL, she rocked that show.
