Thanks for the link Littlewonder! Nice interview. I only watched S5 becoz of Maura was in it. But it sounds tense(?) exciting. I think I wanna watch it not only for Maura this time That will be so hard to watch omg I'm scared of how she will show up....

Mmm, totally agree, littlewonder.
Reading his comments actually made me say, "Oh, my god," out loud. I am really, really looking forward to seeing her performance.

It's tough to even read that, I can't imagine how tough it's going to be watching it. Although nowhere near as tough as what she must have gone through doing it, I would imagine. She's amazing.
Thanks so much for posting it!

This isn't the first time I'm saying this and it probably won't be the last: Maura never stops to amaze me !

I have a feeling her arc is going to be hard to watch. Even though we've gotten used to seeing her semi bald and then short haired, by the time her scenes air it will have been quite a while since her treatments. To see her again like she was on stage in LA in North Atlantic will be a real shocker, just like it was the first time I saw those pictures. But I'll be watching since Maura is amazing beyond belief.

I still have moments where it seems totally surreal and I simply cannot believe that all this happened to her. I know she's just a person too and none of us are immune to illness or having bad things happen to us, but still....her work has meant so much to me, and helped me get through a difficult time of my own last year, so it still breaks my heart that she ever had to deal with this.

I'm right there with you, Tara.
We know that it's not as if she is any less susceptible to illness than we are -- but it's still just so... crazy, and scary, to think that she battled cancer.
I'm really glad that she has come out on the other end of it.

There's a small interview with Denis Leary in the new Entertainment Weekly (a double issue dated July 9/16) and they ask about Maura returning to the show. His reply was:
"There is a reappearance by Maura's character in season 7. I can't say enough about that girl. She didn't care about hiding her treatment or what she's been through."
Can we just say again how amazing she is?

Here is another great interview with Denis Leary where he mentions Maura -- (she is going to be phenomenal)! BostonHerald.com -- Denis Leary confronts ruin, redemption on ‘Rescue Me’Maura excerpt (for those who wish to only read that); "Boston native Maura Tierney will return in the seventh and final season to reprise her role as Kelly McPhee. It was her first TV job after completing her treatment for breast cancer. She asked Leary and the writers to make her battle with the disease part of Kelly’s story.
Leary recalled, “She said, ‘I would really like to play what I went through and play it honestly so that people out there who have been through it, especially women, will identify with it because it’s not what you guys think.’ There was some unbelievably funny stuff that she did and some unbelievably heart-wrenching stuff that she did. It was just brilliant. She was unbelievably brave, but that’s a word that gets cast around too much and she hates that word, so I’ll just say it’s a really original performance.”Ah, can we say EMMY ANYONE!?

Thanks so much for posting that for us, Bree!
She is determined to rip our hearts out with this arc, isn't she? LOL. I just love that she's able to do this on Rescue Me - it's really the perfect venue for her. Leary and Tolan love and respect her, they aren't afraid to write a funny, heartbreaking and ballsy story, she isn't afraid to play a funny, heartbreaking and ballsy story, and this isn't going to turn out like some sappy movie-of-the-week. Like with the Wooster Group, they're letting her do this on her own terms and I think that's awesome.

It might be one of those things where we watch with our eyes covered and peek through our hands too see it. It is going to be difficult to watch to say the least.
If she does not win this August for Kelly McPhee, she will win two years from now. Hopefully someone like Meryl Streep doesn't decided she wants to guest star on a TV show at that same time.

I think even if Meryl did do a guest spot on TV, she couldn't top what we're going to see Maura do next summer. It's going to be devastating to watch, but hopefully it'll also be kind of empowering and uplifting, too.
They'd better not kill her off, though - I will hunt Leary down and hurt him LOL
