Maura's interview on Martha was wonderful. I thought it would be a stifff interview, but Maura totally opened Martha up. So funny talking about her ex.
Also, Maura looked really thin when she took her jacket off. Not a big fan of her hair, it seemed to wash her out. She looked much better with the darker hue on the Today Show.
My dvd is broken so wasn't able to post it, but hopefully somebody will!

Marth asked if they were divorcing when she diagnosed his appendicitis and they went off on what they would have done to their ex. Maura said if she'd known they would get a divorce she probably should have 'sent him to bed with those glaring symptoms.' It was short, quick and the kind of chit chat girls would do when drinking coffee somewhere. I was glad that the conversation was steered elsewhere.

Semi-Pro is getting HORRIBLE reviews...and Maura's storyline with Woody is clearly not pleasing the critics, mostly since it's never wrapped up. No comments on her acting, just on how bad the movie is. Shame...I like Will Ferrell about 1000% less now.

I'm not surprised by the horrible reviews, don't Will Ferrell movies always get horrible reviews? You either love him or hate him, and his movies are always the same thing, just with a different character name and profession. That said, I'm trying to go in with very low expectations that way I'll enjoy the movie more.

I am already going into it with low expectations. I fall into the Ferrill haters club. I find his sports genre humor stupid and offensive for the most part. Haven't bothered with any since 'Talledega Nights' actually. Once in a great while he produces a gem ('Elf' is a family favorite....the little Pearl videos as well). Interestingly enough, my money is on this movie being the one that brings in the most money this weekend. And I am buying a ticket ONLY to see Maura. I am expecting her to bring a little class to the production.

Just saw it. Eh, not bad. Not as many laugh-out-loud jokes as I would have liked. Usually there are atleast 1 or 2 horribly crude yet completely hysterical bits. They managed the crude but missed the hysterical. But I wasn't too disappointed. There were some sweet moments. If you can say that about a Will Ferrell sports movie. The only bad part was how long Maura was actually on screen. 15 minutes tops. But it's spread out and she looks great so there you go. And one scene is very reminiscent of a scene from one of her other movies. I'm not sure it falls into the physical comedy category but it teeters on it in a crude, weird way. Lastly, I think Dukes was my favorite character in the movie. He made me smile. Go Jackie Earle.

At least one critic has something positive to say about our girl... Forget entertainment aimed at those with short attention spans: Semi-Pro -- and all the many movies like it these days -- works only if you have no attention span. None. I mean, seriously, if you cannot remember anything from one moment to the next, then you might possibly find this mildly amusing. Or mildly dramatic. Cuz Will Ferrell’s (Blades of Glory, Stranger Than Fiction) clueless dork of a one-hit-wonder pop star slash pro basketball player slash team owner slash promoter is not, in itself, an incompetently rendered portrait of, you know, clueless dorkiness. It just belongs in a different movie, one that does not also feature Woody Harrelson (No Country for Old Men, A Scanner Darkly), in a not incompetently rendered portrait of an NBA benchwarmer who comes aboard Ferrell’s ABA team in an attempt to whip them into shape so they can measure up to NBA standards. And it certainly does not belong in a movie in which the wonderful Maura Tierney (Welcome to Mooseport, Scotland, PA) is called upon to render a portrait of a woman in love with a man -- that would be Harrelson’s f**kup -- who isn’t capable of loving himself, never mind someone else. (Tierney is so exquisite, as she always is, that it’s painful to imagine what brought her so low as to agree to bestow her talent upon this movie, which is not worthy of it.) I mean, is this a Bugs Bunny cartoon, or is it a sensitive indie period piece? - Maryann Johanson, Flick Filosopher www.flickfilosopher.com/blog/2008/02/semipro_review.html

I was able to watch the film this morning. I liked it, it had a good few laugh out loud moments. I'm scared the movie wont do well in the box office though. I counted 20 people at my 11 am showing. What I found even scarier was the fact that there were only 5 of us during the first 10 minutes of the movie.
Also, I had to leave before the actual ending of the movie so I'm going to have to go watch it again this week. Hopefully there'll be a bigger audience.

Well, my multiplex has scheduled 11 screening times in a 12 hour period. They are showing it on multiple screens. 'The Other Boleyn Sister' is getting 4 screenings in the same time period. Guess I know how they feel about chick flicks. Heh.

Did I see a completely different movie than everyone else?
Actually, that's possible. The theater I go to is one of the biggest ones in Orange County and it wouldn't be the first time something like that happened - as in, an uncut version.
First off, while the plot between MT and Woody diminished in the second half, it was by no means gone. It had an ending.
And second, how has no one mentioned the love scene? Not only hot, but hysterical.
The only real issue I had with it was the excessive cursing. I love to curse, but that was over the top and didn't add to the movie. I'd have been fine if Will's mouth was duct-taped shut.
