Even though we won't have Kelly in this season, I thought it wouldn't hurt for us to have a place where we could still discuss all of this season's episodes in one thread, just in case they do mention her at some point.
Last night's premiere seemed odd to me - I'm still not convinced that what we were seeing was reality. Everything just seemed 'off' somehow, made me wonder if Tommy's actually still unconscious or in purgatory or something like that.

I thought the same thing, but I really didn't watch the show til last season anyway, so I really still don't understand the relationships between the characters. I guess that is my own fault since I really didn't do any research on the show to find out all the storylines, ect!

I agree. I think it's a dream, or he's in a coma or something like that. There's just so much in that episode that didn't add up. I'm guessing that they keep this up for another episode or two, then explain what happened and get back to reality and Tommy's "life change" sometime mid-season.
I can't begin to express how annoyed I am with FX, Tolan, and Leary for splitting the already filmed episodes into two years so there is more than a year until Maura's episodes air. I understand the reasoning behind wanting to finish up on the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, but it's really hard to keep an audience (and ratings) for a show that airs 9 episodes and then goes away for a year.

I watched the first episode of S6 yesterday. No mention of Kelly of course but it was pretty good although I agree with most of you, I'm not sure either if it was real or if it will all turn out to be a dream. Anyway in case you missed it you can watch it online here. There are several links there: www.tvduck.com/Rescue-Me.htmlYou have to try out a bit to find out which one works best for you, it all depends on what player you have or where you live. I used this one: www.tvduck.com/frame.php?epi=336413&view=760245

I wasn't planning to watch until Maura came back, but it sounds like I may need to to understand the storyline.

I have a feeling the whole thing is a dream while he is in a coma. Too many things were happening that didn't make sense, or were thoughts that Tommy had always been having, but were never actually said outloud. I am very curious to know what else will occur this season! It looks good, but obviously cannot wait until Maura's arc!

After last night's new episode, I'm still convinced that this is a dream/coma/purgatory/whatever and not reality.
Tommy sharing his feelings with everyone, Colleen suddenly turning into an alcoholic, Uncle Teddy facing no consequences for the shooting (the guy just got out of prison for killing a man), etc., it all seems weird to me.

Anyone else saw last episode? God, what an ending. Lou didn't look that good. And to think I might only know what will happen next, in 2 weeks

I hope they don't kill Lou off, that would be awful. He did not look good.

Anybody catch last night's episode? Since I think we're all convinced that nothing this season has been real so far and that Tommy's in a coma or something, my theory is that his subconscious is playing out all his biggest fears for him. Fear that his kids will inherit his drinking problem (Colleen), fear that his friends will leave him (Lou's "heart attack"), fear that he will be replaced in Janet and Sheila's lives (Franco and Mickey), etc.
I think there are only four or five episodes left in this season, so I guess we'll have some answers soon. Since I'm not a diehard fan of the show and am basically just watching so I'll be caught up next season, it won't bug me that much if this all turns out to be a dream. But if I was a huge fan of the show itself? I'd be really ticked off if they wasted an entire season on Tommy in purgatory.

You definitely didn't miss a lot. Lou was fine and back at the firehouse on last week's episode.
Check out the spoilers thread for some new mention of Maura from Peter Tolan...

She wasn't....and no mention/sighting in the previews for next week either, although it does show Tommy and Janet together on what looks like a date.

No mention of Kelly in last night's episode. The "face from the past" that Tommy and Janet saw was a kid who used to be friends with their son.

Looks like we really will have to wait until next summer! But I'm ok with it because it will keep us occupied when TWT is on summer break! Maura all year round = heaven!
