Wow..that's really sad. She was a great woman, and it scares me to see that those who attended this event are dying one after another. That really really scares me..

Justin Timberlake, Sofia Vergara, and Olympians join Stand Up to Cancer telethonby Associated Press Sep 5, 2012 More A-listers have signed on to support the third Stand Up to Cancer telethon. Organizers say Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Justin Timberlake, Sofia Vergara, and Olympic gold medalists Gabrielle Douglas and Missy Franklin will participate in the hour-long TV special. It is set to air Friday on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and more than a dozen cable channels. The slate of stars announced Wednesday also includes Eric Stonestreet, Ray Romano, Felicity Huffman, Rocco DiSpirito and Maura Tierney. They’ll join previously announced participants such as Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Michael Douglas, Jessica Biel, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, Seth Rogen, Emma Stone and Gwyneth Paltrow. Paltrow also is an executive producer of the fundraiser that will be carried commercial-free from 8-9 p.m. EDT from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, Coldplay and Alicia Keys are set to perform during the special, and patients participating in Stand Up to Cancer trials will share their experiences. Stand Up to Cancer has raised more than $180 million for cancer research and awareness since the telethon was established in 2008. The organization said it has awarded grants to seven multidisciplinary research “Dream Teams” and to scientists seeking innovative approaches to end cancer’s role as the world’s leading cause of death. The telethon features a celebrity phone bank that allows donors who call in to talk with the stars. The cable channels carrying the telethon are BIO, Encore, HBO, Showtime, HBO Latino, ION Television, LMN, Logo, MLB Network, mun2, Palladia, Starz, TBS, Smithsonian and VH1. Stand Up to Cancer was founded by Spider-Man movie producer Laura Ziskin, who produced its first two telethons in 2008 and 2010. Ziskin lost her seven-year fight against breast cancer last year. insidetv.ew.com/2012/09/05/justin-timberlake-sophia-vergara-stand-up-to-cancer-telethon/

Awesome! Thanks, sissa! I was afraid she might not be able to do it this year when her name didn't appear in the first press release. Glad that wasn't the case. I bought a brand new SU2C shirt to wear on Friday.

Good to see her back for this one, I was wondering too if she would be able to be at it, even if she is just working the phone bank. I don't know if I will call in on the remote chance I get Maura to pick up my call or not. The operator I talked with last time was extremely nice & it made up for the fact that I didn't get Maura.
I would love to see her with Gabby Douglas or Missy Franklin, Missy & the fierce 5 were my favorite olympians this year.

I was on the treadmill at the Y this morning and looked up to the bank of tv's on the wall and saw Maura! Changed the channel on the tv in the treadmill I was on and caught a lot of the quick interview. Glad to see she looks and sounds good. And what a way to make my morning!
