I saw the interview ... he's adorable, and he definitely will be in some episodes, but they are not sure about how many. So ... the only thing that's supposedly not definite is how many. I've said this numerous times ... there's no way this would be discussed on a rival network in that type of forum. I'm certain that GV and TPTB have discussed this numerous times as they thought Season 13 would be the end for everyone. MT's contract expired this season too!!! IMO, since Season 14 will most probably be the last, I believe contracts are still being negotiated to coincide with the storylines and any outside projects for the actors, and IMO we probably won't hear anything definite from anyone in order to keep us guessing about what's to come in the new season!!! We're not even sure that there will be an entire season renewed at this point. The only thing that is certain, IMO, regardless of whether there are 5, 13 or 22 episodes, we will see a happy Kovac family in the end!!!

From TVGuide's News column:
The big screen is beckoning ER’s most senior medicos. Goran Visnjic and Maura Tierney (aka deliciously moody lovebirds Luka and Abby) confirmed for TV Guide that they’re on their way off the show. (Word of Visnjic's exit was broken in late February by Ausiello.) “I’m pretty sure I’m leaving after next year,” says Tierney, while Visnjic says he expects to do “a couple” — fewer than five — episodes next season. As TV Guide’s Sexiest Doc and Dad says, “We’re still talking about how and when we’re going to do it. But it’s kind of a logical progression because every summer I want to do a movie and... there are always problems with my scheduling. I think it’s a nice run to be on a show for eight years.”
Similarly, Tierney says she loves ER and her costars, but would like to do more features. (Currently she’s filming Semi-Pro with Will Ferrell and Woody Harrelson.) Although Tierney has asked the producers to whack Abby when the day comes, both actors believe the writers prefer a happy ending for the tempest-tossed pair. Gee, and we were hoping for another killer helicopter.

I just rewatched the tape of the show and I will say that GV appeared very relaxed, and so was I this time. He speaks very fondly of ER and said that he still feels like the new kid on the block and mentioned how ER gave him a dialog coach for 4 years. He appears genuinely grateful and humble. He spoke about his parents visting and how he did look for the sequel to one of Mel Brooks' movies. He confirmed the wedding and said he thought the episode was very cute actually. He remains vague ... always saying we'll see. He never inferred he's leaving, but more so that he will be seen. Having carefully watched again, IMO we will see GV next season and we are simply waiting for storylines to be meshed out and contracts to be put in place. GV made that appearance simply to make an appearance ... there was not hidden agenda there!!!

Gee, and we were hoping for another killer helicopter. [/i][/quote] I posted this elsewhere, but I just have to say it again: I love the woman's sense of humor. Clearly it was meant in jest, as so many of the characters meet strange and melodramatic ends. It's so...ARGH...that reporters don't get it when she jokes, as she's done before.

HAHAHA! No more killer helicopters! That was an ER low point along with the tank.
I love how actors want to go out with a bang, killing off the character but I am glad that the writers will not do that...I was devestated when they killed off my fave on McLeod's Daughters, I am still not over watching her plummet to her death and that was years ago, I would be a wreck if they killed off Abby - I think I would need to be instutionalised LOL!

Sorry Mags. It really was one of the saddest hours on TV I have ever seen. I was just imagining Abby biting the dust and Joe and Luke being left behind and it made me think of Claire falling over the cliff leaving Charlotte and Alex behind - I need a drink

That wouldn't be new to ER as Romano had the killer Helicopter... I would be deeply upset if they kill off Abby (and Luka). You never know if thier departure could be the finale of Season 14 as they claim that the show contracts ends...
