It's in the season ten ep, Impulse Control. Transcript of the scene from TwoP:
Later, Abby drifts into NotMagoo's and orders up a bunch of food, plus two plain hamburgers and three plain yogurts. Sam overhears this with a laugh. "Susan can only eat two things without throwing up," Abby laughs. Sam commiserates that pregnancy does suck. Abby perches beside her and they make small talk about Abby's tiring schedule and her med-school dream. "The last thing I remember wanting to be was an international spy," Sam grins ruefully. "I was fifteen. Then I got pregnant." Abby has the tact to whistle, "Fifteen!" Charming. Sam recalls how she was in total denial when she found out, and had to work double shifts at Baskin-Robbins to scrape together the cash Alex's father was supposed to provide to help with the abortion. "Did he go with you?" Abby asks. "He was at a gig," Sam says, self-mockingly. Abby nods with amused recognition. "The first time I went, I sat in the waiting room and they called my name...Never got up," Sam says. "The second time, I was too late. Now I look at Alex, and I...." She shakes her head, as if she can't imagine that she came so close to aborting someone she loves so much. Abby digests this, and then blurts, "The place I went to had this calendar on the wall. With a picture of Strawberry Shortcake." A child's toy? That's awfully tactless. Abby laughs mirthlessly. "I just stared at it the whole time," she says. She and Sam swap silent looks, and Abby shakes her head with tangible what-could-have-been regret. It's a really nice scene for them -- two people who've been at the same place and took different roads for different reasons.

That's my favorite part of that episode!! That and when Sam goes after Morris (I think it was Morris anyway) after he dripped ketchup on her papers. I though that that was hysterical.

Is anyone else worried about this MAJOR change in Abby's character? Not that I don' t love seeing happy Abby and her being more open and honest, confronting her problems and whatnot. It just seems a little too unreal to me (or maybe it's just me). It seems like no matter what happens she can overcome her fear (I think it's great) but, for some reason I think maybe we're in for a crash. Not a spoiler just my opinion. Anyone else think so?

Hmmm....no.....I think this has been a very realistic character growth from 'Bloodline' till now. Even last season, watching her take baby steps in trust and communication with Luka throughout her pregnancy was leading up to this. And the BIGGIE, for me anyway, was Maggie's surgical obs deck revelation to her that she 'was the mother now....and that that baby needs to know that you believe he is going to be all right....' Putting Abby in a place where she begins to learn that SHE is responsible for how other people feel was transforming. I think the writers and Maura have been spot on with this growth. I only hope that now that the Luby have some understanding about how they really feel about one another that some outside force (TPTB?) doesn't come and snatch it away.

It's exactly what I've just written in the COM discussion. ITA with Larue! I was drawing a parallel between Luby dancing together in INN, last year, and their dance in COM. Abby's change is amazing! From the insecure woman who screwed up everything in her life ( her own words) and was so scared to have a baby...and this woman who may be afraid ( Ames's threat), but who won't yield, there is such a transformation! We saw it so much after Joe's birth. If Abby seems to be the strong one, it's because she is absolutely sure of Luka's love for her!( not because she is his son's mother!) And motherhood transformed her, as Larue said. For the first time in her life, Abby 's life is fullfilled. She is coping with all her past insecurities: remember when she quietly recognizes she 's an alcoholic. She'll know how to react if Ames threatens her family, better than Luka who still has the burden of his past. I think TPTB are preparing us to see Abby's strength if tragedy happens! It's Luka who might break down! Just my 2 cents.

did you notice the parallel between "all about christmas eve" and "city of mercy"? both episodes involved a semi-infamous line from our dear abby: "can we talk?" both were so pivotal in her character (telling luka about the baby and talking about their relationship) but the fact that she wanted to talk in COM was so different, wanting to grow and understand. i liked the little link.

Wow I didn't notice that!! But somehow in season 10 when Abby was talking to Jake (it was the xmas episode... forgot the name) she said she was going to invent a family so she didn't have to work christmas. Well she succeeded in that one! lol. But this year I didnt catch that little line, but now that you said something I'm going to watch the episode again and hear her say it. Zelda I couldn't have said it better myself!!

I love that the writers have allowed Abby to grow. I was watching some videos from season 6,7&8 and she had some crappy lines ..especially with Carter and absolutely no major growth. I think when she graduated as a doctor we started to see growth but it stalled a little until she got back with Luka last Christmas and started to make some difficult decisions. Season 13 is showing us how much she has grown and every now and then we get a scene that is reminiscent of a past one and we get to compare the differences.
