No, loves, it most certainly is a boy. Here it is, straight from Daisy of AEB: And here's the real clincher, folks. Are you ready for this? Feel free to cheer/cry/etc. ETA: It also appears that the title is "Bloodline," not "Borderline." Will change ASAP

Ok, Like an unhappy person I did some checking around to check this name thing (Guess you guys noticed I did not like the Joe thing. Please no ofense to the Joe's around, It's just too close to John to be a Lubby baby's name) Aniway, The ER Exchange posts that "Joe is just the name calling of our so "Beloved" ER forum writer which was also what I had read. So JOE is not it's name, it's just given to point out that it's a boy!
I edited for content as they still insist on name calling this poor fictional kid!
********************************* Baby Joe/******
Just thought I'd clear this

Actually, lubbybaby, I don't think that's the case either. The name-calling you were referring to was the ER Forum's nickname "Damien," which is some allusion to the Omen movies (thus suggesting, given their obvious distaste of both Abby and Luby, the baby is the antichrist). I do believe the actual name given is Joe, which is hopefully short for Joseph. You have to go to AEB, ER Forums AND ER Exchange to get the full story these days! ...Of course, TPTB could throw us a huge curveball and change the name to say, I don't know, John Truman Carter Kovac in the last minute? *shudder*

I heard this baby is born by c-section...i thought it would have been fun for this baby to born the natural way I could have seen Luka helping Abby n having a little humor in this episode. In the dnd I jsut want the baby to b alrite, but Im hoping what I heard will change and we can c abby break lukas finger like in the fanfic...haha!

I still think it's just reference She keeps putting Joe Damian, so... ... I don't know, anyway, Abby's name was supposed to be something like Dory or some carp like that, Luka's name was also meant to be difrerent both (Different names were mentioned on early scripts) so... ... ... Don't really think Joe is the real name that will be given.
Whatever, I've got info on what the boy's condition will be in the NICU
Here it goes: the baby has to be delivered early because of a placental abruption. Baby Joe Damien has to have his FIO2 (a ventilator setting) increased with 50 of oxygen. In real life, an infant that is intubated and needing 50 O2 and not weaning from the vent, and also needing dopamine at a week of age has a very guarded prognosis, no matter what his gestational age. Also in real life this baby would most likely be having seizures or other difficulties.
Maggie seems to be acting like a concerned and doting grandmother. She asks questions as sounds reasonable to me. She sits by the isolette knitting. She also demands that Raab be called when the monitor alarms keep going off.

I don't know... Deedee at ER Forums- which seems to be where Daisy gets her spoilers says she was simply refering to the baby as Joe just so he/she would have a name. When I was on earlier today, she said she didn't even know the sex yet, and as far as I can tell, nothing on the matter has come up since.
I don't know... the chances are slim, but I'm still thinking there's a possiblity it may be a girl.

I'm still hoping for a girl too. But if it's a boy I'll be happy just because Luka and Abby are together.

HATE, HATE, HATE this drama. Seriously. God. I'm all for interesting and occasionally tragic scenarios as long as they're actually believable. This entire predicament is highly unrealistic.
I re-capped the improbable scenario at ERHQ so here's the copy/paste of that.
First we have a hostage situation during which Abby is knocked to the ground. Which in turn causes her to have a placental abruption caused by the blunt force trauma. She ends up having an emergency c-section to deliver her premature baby who is born with a very low APGAR score. In addition to that she seems to develop consumptive coagulopathy which is indicated by the severe hemorrhaging. This puts her as risk for death as well because that can cause your internal organs to shut down. SO basically we have a 5% chance of Abby dying. (She doesn't. Obviously.) And the baby is basically screwed because the odds of an infant dying from an abruption this severe are about 65%. We are told that he indeed does survive however, the odds of him actually developing normally and not sustaining long term neurological problems are slim since about 50% of all infants in this sort of predicament continue to have life-long issues stemming from their oxygen deprivation.
Basically, if they make the baby turn out perfectly okay I'll be pissed because that's totally veering off of the believability path. If the baby ends up having some sort of defect due to the ordeal I'll still be pissed because I just want Luby to be happy so basically, I'm angry with TPTB at the moment and how they managed to write themselves into a totally bizarre corner. I REALLY hope lots of re-writing and editing goes on from now until it's filmed.

on my opinion, I'm really happy that it's a boy... i don't see Abby with a baby boy! Moreover, i hate the name! I pray for it's false... What happen in Producer's mind??? We do an overdose of boys in ER!!!

Explained the baby's name: (Got it from Coffe and Pie site)
Joe is not the baby legal name but is his NICU Name. Remember when Abby names a baby in the NICU episode that is supposed to be a strong name .
JOSEPH Gender: Masculine
Usage: English, French, Biblical
Pronounced: JO-sef (English), zho-ZEF (French) [key]
From the Latin Josephus, which was from the Greek Éùóçöïò (Iosephos), which was from the Hebrew name Yoseph meaning "he will add". In the Old Testament Joseph was the eleventh son of Jacob. Because he was the favourite of his father, his older brothers sent him to Egypt and told their father that he had died. In Egypt, Joseph became an advisor to the pharaoh, and was eventually reconciled with his brothers when they came to Egypt during a famine. This is the name of two characters in the New Testament: Joseph the husband of Mary and Joseph of Arimathea. Also, rulers of the Holy Roman Empire have had this name.

I hope it's true, because it is the only light point on the horizont... I really hope that the baby will be healthy and alright! They can't kill him! And I'm glad that's a boy I read so many fics where they had a girl that it would be very interesting to see them with a boy I hpe it will be okay!
