I thought the episode was great. I also cried a lot and it was the first time I've cried at an ER episode since Greene died in "On the Beach." Just looking at how Pratt's life ended up, with him finally settling down and getting the Chief job and then having to die, it just hit me hard. And then seeing the faces of all those in the ER who were going to miss him, it was just so sad. And even though Morris and Pratt didn't get along in seasons 10 and 11 they have become such great colleagues. Morris' reaction during that montage in the middle of the episode was heartwrenching.
And I was very glad they mentioned Luka was at the funeral because he and Pratt grew to be very close and it would have been wrong to completely dismiss it, especially since you knew he was in Chicago. It's not like he was in Croatia or something.

I am still crying my eyes out. It was ER at its best, AN ENSEMBLE where you could feel the strong link between all these doctors like in ALL IN THE FAMILY when LUCY died. Wonderful première........... I thought I was done with ER............but was totally overwhelmed by the quality of the epi. I didn't miss LUKA, and ABBY was just part of the ensemble, sharing the same sorrow as her friends. FRANK made me bawl like a baby during the whole epi. He didn't say much but his face was so expressive that I felt HE and CHAZ were the most deeply affected. He had such a special relationship with PRATT. From being a racist bastard to admiring, respecting and loving him, it was such a long process. I remember when PRATT saved his life, FRANK told him about the black soldiers who were in Vietnam with him, and said something like: " If they hadn't been killed, they would be like you today, doctors or people who succeed in their professional life." There were small details which made me cry like a baby , like when HALEH and CHAZ were pushing PRATT's gurney. Today I saw what I had missed so much the two last seasons. No other medical show has the capacity of describing this unique atmosphere when the whole staff is working together and grieving together. ER is not dead after all........not after such an incredible episode. CHRISTABELLE, thank you so much! KARMA with my two hands!

Karma for you, Christabelle! Thank-you-so-much-because-else-I-would've-waited-for-the-torrent-to-download-for-ages.
Seriously. I never cry when I watch tv episodes or films or anything, but this episode got me crying. So.. it was really good! I felt so sorry for Abby when she had to divide her attention between that little girl and Pratt. By the way, did we see what happened to that little girl or not? Maybe I just cannot remember. Anyways, I thought that it was great that they were referring to Luka! This episode was really easy to follow for me (I have only watched 2 season 14 episodes...), they did a great job, but... just like Larue I would've wanted them (the actors) to show a little more emotion. The only one who did that was Frank..
Was I the only one who thought Morris was going to kiss Bettina...? I thought this bit was very moving. Gee, Pratt. I loved the guy.

I haven't been here for a while and I didn't watch ER too much in the past few years but I was really curious after reading the news about Pratt so I watched Life After death. I have to say that this episode is one of the best I have seen for a long time Really emotional, very well done, all actors/characters did the best. I feel sorry for Pratt despite of the fact I didn't really like him It's so hard to deal with Abby's upcoming departure, can't believe she is leaving too But I'm glad the they're working on their relationship with Luka Sorry about my English, still working on my grammar

ER is not dead after all........not after such an incredible episode. Well said Zelda! That was just what I was about to say. I thought I was all done with ER but now after this episode I remembered what got me watching ER in the first place. The friendship between them all. I'm just like Luzz but vice versa, first I saw the episode on TV3 (season 12, the episode when the plane crashes and neela & pratt is helping out) and then I saw this episode and I was like; wasn't he just there helping neela with the planecrash? It was such a sad episode & my brother even thought so as his favourite is Pratt. I've always felt that Pratt is something special, together with Frank & Morris they are the funniest men. I remember last years premiere, when Abby, Morris & Pratt were sitting at Ike's and making that special signal. Was I the only one noticing that Abby has the same shirt that she had on season 13's finale/season 14's premiere? I remember because I have the exact same shirt. Enough rambling from me, moving on to the next show. double up with grey's anatomy after that ugly betty don't you just love fridays?

I did have one problem about the continuity. They said Pratt had been there for 8 years. But in fact it was only six plus a few episodes at the end of Season 8. That bugged me that they couldn't have done simple math.
Also, they seemed to keep stressing that Abby had a sprained ankle, for example when she slipped and the girl laughed, and it looked like that was painful for her, but they never really brought it up again. Of course it most likely because the focus was on Pratt but I thought it was interesting that they brought it up and then sort of dismissed it.

This was one of the best season premieres in a while. I'm not much of a crier, but last night's episode had me in tears. Frank in particular got to me. It's been interesting to see just how much Pratt has changed since that cocky med student in season 8. As far fetched as I ever though it might be, I'm going to miss Pratt.

I agree with you If it was so necessery to bring it up in the first place, why don't they just end the story they started? maybe they'll continue it in the next episode or something
