I kinda think it will be spread out too. And who is to say it will stay at six - maybe he will surpise us all and do more. And maybe if it is the final year of ER then he will come back as a HUGE surprise for the final ever episode - that would be worth tuning in for. 6 episodes of a 22 episode season is actually more than a quarter of the season - obviously we don't know if it's going to stay at 6 episodes or how much of those episodes he will appear in, but it's still nice to think he will be around.

Actually, GV confirmed during a very recent trip to SA that he would be appearing in six episodes and the only reason he left was because he felt that there was not too much more to do with the character (Luka has come full circle w/ a happy family). If you think about it, 6 out of 22 is approximately 1 out of 3. Not too bad. Also, GV confirmed and so did MT that TPTB like the Luby relationship and there will be a happy ending, no matter when it is!

I'm gonna miss Goran like heck, but I'm still chill about season 14. We have the baby, we got the wedding, they're a family and we know they'll get the happy ending they deserve eventually.

i could just be imagining stuff but i was thinking ,looking at luka's face expression in the cab going away ,that he might 've lied to abby about the real reason he's going there. i mean...she doesn't understand the language so he could tell her anything to protect her-which he likes to do. and the whole "sick daddy" plot is just too easy... what do you think? OMG you could be right....but what is the reason instead for going to Croatia

Where in season 12 did Luka say he has two brothers? I just thought it was one.

Honestly the thought that Luka might be lying to Abby never occured to me, but now that you mentioned it... I don't know, on the other hand I don't think Luka would like, but on the other hand we all know he would do antything to protect her, so there might be something more going on... Who knows...

I brought that up in an earlier descussion. I didn't like the look on his face as he was being driven away either. It was like he KNEW he wouldn't see them for a long while or something. Creepy.

Actually I was wondering if it might be tied into the Croatian War for independence. While Luka was a doctor in training during the seige on Vukovar, maybe someone could have fingered him for something involving human rights (untrue of course) during that time that would result in a legal fight, loss of his passport etc. During the episode of their first break up, Luka was pretty friendly with the two old Croats in the bar. I remember reading on tv.com that they were identified as being members of the Serbian secret police or something like that.

Why would Luka be friendly with members of the Serbian secret police (and I don't recall seeing them identified as such) of all people? The Serbs were responsible for the bombardment that killed his family.
I can't thinkof any human rights issues that chould have arisen, but in any case Luka has been home once already and hasn't hesitated to go back this time voluntarily. If Luka were wanted for anything he'd have been extradited by now.
GV has always gone to some lengths to emphasise that the war is in the past and that Croatia is a great place to be; I can't see him going along with any such storyline even if it were plausible.

It seems like you guys are fishing for something that just isn't there. I'm perfectly content with the ailing father explanation. I don't think there needs to be anything particularly sinister or covert about his departure for there to be angst and drama in the Luby relationship. I remember reading on tv.com that they were identified as being members of the Serbian secret police or something like that. Well, they'd be one or the other and it wouldn't make sense for Luka to be friendly and chatting them up if they were members of the Serbian Secret Police.

I agree; I'm thinking horses, not zebras. Any conflict is likely to be familial I think, and if that's what they want to do they've already set up some tension with the brother.

It's an exit to the show, and, as I've said before, an ailing or dying family member can most certainly take someone away for long periods. I think some of you are overthinking this a touch. If I'm wrong, I'll gladly munch on my hat and Bel's as well, but for now, I'm getting a wierd CIA espionage vibe from this conversation.

when he was talking to abby about baptism he said "so were my brothers".i might just be missunderstanding. You're not. He did say "brothers" as in plural, but these days I take no stock in that. He also referred to his wife as "Jasna" and changed up the nature of his family's death at one point. TPTB have very little faith in our observational skills. Shining example: Alex.
