Can anyone tell me what the abbreviation TPA stands for? They talk about it and mention it several times in this clip: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewQUEFnN1Wc at 03:13 Or is there a thread with a list of medical abbreviations somewhere here on TDWD ?

Correct, TPA stands for Tissue Plasminogen Activator. It's a "clot-buster", used to break up blood clots. We frequently give it to patients who maybe having a heart attack, embolic stroke, or pulmonary embolism. It is primarily used in emergency situations and can be dangerous because it can also cause uncontrollable bleeding.
