New thread for discussion of tonight's episode!
We've got Kelly showing up at the firehouse looking for a date (or as a blurb I read this morning put it "looking to mate with any fireman" LOL) and calling Tommy "Opie" - should be a good one! (Kind of ironic since Ron Howard is exec-producing Parenthood LOL)

LOL I imagine he has developed a good sense of humor about that sort of thing over the years.

Well, Maura was undoubtedly brilliant and hilarious ("He looks like one of those Twilight ***holes..." LOL!!) but that was way, way too short. I certainly hope we get more than one scene per episode for the rest of her appearances.

There was only one scene?!?! They kept promoting her role so much just for a bunch of scenes? Found this little summary: From HERE"It opened with a long scene where Maura stopped by to flirt with every guy who seemingly wasn’t Tommy, then called Tommy, Opie. I’m still not sure where they’re going with this character (presumably, she’ll sleep with Tommy at some point), but the energy Tierney brings to every scene she’s in makes them a lot of fun. Watching her toy with Tommy and, especially, Mike was terrific, and I also enjoyed her saying "Damien! That's perfect! He even has a vampire name!" One has to assume they didn’t just bring Tierney in for a handful of scenes where she torments the guys with her ineffable winning nature, so I assume there’s some tragedy around the corner (probably when we find out what’s in the box), but it’s nice to see Tierney flexing the old comedy muscles after being stranded on ER all those years."

I liked her wink when she was in Tommy's dream and I also loved the 'Baby Carrot' scene, man that was so hilarious Oh and I just uploaded the clip of Maura's scenes on You Tube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTWN4Cqc0OE

Opie Taylor was the character played by Ron Howard on 'The Andy Griffith Show' when he was a kid. He was little, freckled and red headed. Kind of the epitome of an All American kid....wholesome and sweet.....everything that Tommy Gavin is NOT. LOL I am trying to remember if I read somewhere that Dennis Leary and Ron Howard are friends. At any rate - having grown up with 'Opie' - I found the entire exchange hilarious.
I certainly hope we get more than one scene per episode for the rest of her appearances.
Given that the show is an 'ensemble' and that one scene per show is basically what they gave Michael J. Fox, I doubt if we will see a 'Maura-centric' episode. And that reviewer was right. She does - literally - 'explode' the scene she is in.

She does - literally - 'explode' the scene she is in. I realize it's an ensemble and that they don't typically give their guest stars a ton of airtime (even high profile ones like Susan Sarandon), so I don't need a Maura-centric episode, I'd just like more than one scene per show. I think we'll definitely get that next week. She was just fantastic though - and that review from Ken Tucker at Entertaiment Weekly was awesome. We should all add a comment or at least send him an email to say thanks for recognizing her.

Just saw it. That was WAAAAAAAAAAAY too short. I mean, WTF?! They could have included another scene... no, Tommy's dream does not qualify as 'another' scene for me. All the nicknames.. that was very funny I was thinking that Maura would be funny as hell on 'Californication'. That show is really, really funny to me and she would be perfect for a little guest spot... but she already has another projects.
