Oh wow, thanks for finding that, Rike!
No doubt it will be extremely tough to watch, but it's also going to be fascinating. Just when you think you can't love Maura and admire her more, she does something ballsy like this. I know we've all said it a million times before, but what an amazing lady.
And on a totally shallow note - I would love to see this role get her the Emmy she's deserved for over a decade now!

I can´t wait for her episodes.
Kind of paraphrasing Maura´s words: Fans of Maura always should have their tissues close by.

Yep, we're all going to be emotional basketcases when these episodes air, LOL. I don't know how we're going to make it a whole year before we get to see them.
I'm surprised no mainstream news outlet has picked up on this info about her episodes and ran with it yet.

Thanks for posting the article.
Wow, this is going to be hard to watch. I'm so mad that these episodes won't air for over a year, buy maybe it will be easier by then if I've seen her healthy and happy acting in something else (if not a new show at least a couple of guest episodes of something next fall).
I'm surprised she agreed to the cancer story arc since it is so personal for her and she is so private. But Maura is always looking for an acting challenge. I can only imagine what it was like for the other cast and crew watching her do those scenes. How incredibly moving it must have been.

WOW! thanx for the article. It is ALWAYS surprising how and when Maura decides to reveal anything or everything about herself. I also do hope she gets the recognition she always deserved even though it was due to a real life experience. All I can say is that it will be HARD and very very very EMOTIONAL to see her on HD TV. I prefer the NA Sinead O'Connor Maura. It will be disturbing because it is REAL and HONEST. She always mentions in her interviews that when people have to face dificulties and hard times, she prefers to play it with humor. So, it will be fantastic. Thank you Maura, again.

That's unbelievable... I't so brave if you can play that when you actually had to deal with it yourself, and even in such a short period of time after her own treatments... I have no words for it. I really admire Maura...

LOL! Smart girl, Rike! No eye contact! I completely agree - even though we're impatient for the episodes now, maybe it's for the best that we don't see them for a while. It's going to be tough no matter when they air, but like you said, if we have this whole next year to see her out and about looking healthy and happy, it'll make it a little easier to watch next summer. As Aida and Suus have said, she is one surprising, brave woman. Maybe if they do a Rescue Me premiere party next season like they did last season, we can all go and cheer her on.

www.hollywoodnews.com/2010/05/03/denis-leary-on-ben-rapelisberger-and-rescue-me/"The story line for her character follows a cancer story arc that she was willing play. We’re doing a show about firefighters, but for person that’s not playing a firefighter, it’s one of the bravest things I’ve ever seen somebody do. Because of her experience with it and because of her talent as an actress, it’s not only heavy, it’s a very heavy story line, it’s also in the tradition of Rescue Me, incredibly funny. She was willing to play this very dark, dramatic arc that has real, real humor in it that could only come from somebody who had the experience of going through treatments for cancer. I just can’t say enough about the performance that she gives in the show. I wish it was actually coming on this summer because we’re so excited about what she did. It’s really great.” WOW! I am pleasantly surprised and excited by this news! Maura is so brave and amazing! I give her so much credit for doing this!

I can't say I'm surprised that the RM writers decided to go with a cancer storyline for Kelly. I got thinking about that, when Tolan said he wanted Maura back on the show. And if Maura doesn't get nominated or win the Emmy this Summer for her first stint as Kelly, she WILL win it in her second stint. It will be interesting to see and as others have said, very hard to watch. Kelly (Clarkson) (Katharine) McPhee, anyone else think the RM writers are big "American Idol" fans.

I was surprised because for some reason I thought she had filmed some of her scenes when she did Kelly the first time.
When they announced she would be back, I mean, when they wanted her back they didn't mention anything about that, I mean, art immitating life, so I thought she had done some of her scenes before she did her treatment. I was naive, I guess.

Aida, I didn't think she had filmed any new scenes prior to her treatment, but I believe they started filming the two new seasons in September, so I guess it's possible. But we probably would have heard about it before now or Leary/Tolan would've mentioned it in the latest round of interviews they did. I wish we didn't have to wait so long to find out! Maybe we need to start hitting Leary up for info on Twitter, LOL.
