All right, I hadn't realized it had been so long! Here's an update:

The next time Abby woke up, it was light outside and she was alone. She sat up slowly, making sure nothing ached so badly that she needed to lie down again. She felt fine, however, so she swung her legs around and let them dangle off the bed. She gulped down some water from the cup by her bed and cleared her throat. It was still a little sore from the intubation, but the swelling was going down. She massaged her throat and hummed a bit to make her throat feel better. Just then there was a quick knock on the door and a nurse bustled in. Abby sighed; as a nurse she had done the same a hundred times, but just now she was beginning to realize how annoying it is that people barge into patient rooms whenever they feel like it, without even waiting to see if you are dressed or not.
“Hi there, I’m here to get your vitals,” the nurse said, strapping a BP cuff onto Abby’s arm. Abby glanced at her out of the corner of her eyes. How obnoxious, she thought, but waited while the nurse squeezed the cuff. “Hmm…” the nurse said, noting the pressure. Abby waited impatiently, but the nurse didn’t say what it was.
“What’s my blood pressure?” she asked, trying not to sound as annoyed as she felt.
“Don’t you worry about that, honey,” the nurse said, making notes on the chart.
“No, you don’t understand. I am a doctor; I’d like to know how I am.” Abby knew the annoyance was becoming more apparent, but this nurse was really starting to bug her. She narrowed her eyes as the nurse continued making notes. Abby was sure she had never seen her before. She opened her mouth to ask again, but just as she was about to speak Luka came into the room, carrying a tray.
“I saw your breakfast on its way, so I brought it in to you,” He said, grinning at Abby. She felt her heart melt a little at his thoughtfulness. He set the tray down and winked at Abby, then moved away to look at her chart. The nurse smiled up at him, and Abby’s annoyance grew. She was in the hospital, for crying out loud, and girls were still hitting on Luka! Luka made some comments to the nurse, pointing at the chart, and the nurse nodded and smiled again.
“Luka,” Abby said, her voice still weak. He didn’t raise his head. “Luka!” She said again, more forcefully. Luka looked up and smiled at her. He came over and sat next to her, the nurse forgotten. The nurse finally left.
“Do you need anything?” Luka asked, still holding her chart.
“Not especially,” she said, “But the nurse wouldn’t tell me anything. How’s my chart?” Luka glanced down, frowning slightly.
“Well, the nurse noted your BP was a little low. She is going to let your doctor know, and they are considering keeping you here a bit longer.” Abby scowled. “Calm down Abby, nothing’s been decided yet. Don’t you want to be completely healthy before you go home to Joe?” He rubbed her arm, smiling. Abby continued to frown, but thought about it. He had a point. “Let’s just see what Dr. Cooper thinks,” Luka said.
“Oh, Luka,” she said, annoyed again, “I don’t need to ‘wait and see what Dr. Cooper thinks’. We’re both doctors. Do I need to stay or not?” She repeated his words in a mocking tone.
“We’ll see.” Luka said again.
“You are only saying that because you think I should stay, and you don’t want to be the one to tell me.” She said, leaning back in the bed and crossing her arms. Luka looked a bit sheepish; he hadn’t expected her to figure it out. “Well I am telling you right now, if I do have to stay another night, you are bringing Joe in to see me. I am not waiting another day to see him.” Luka smiled and nodded in assent.
