Found ABC's press release on Maura. I didn't realize that one of the executive producers (Tom Donaghy - who also wrote the pilot) was her classmate at NYU. Maybe that's one of the reasons she took the part. MAURA TIERNEY JOINS CAST OF "THE WHOLE TRUTH," NEW SERIES FROM JERRY BRUCKHEIMER TELEVISION FOR FALL ON ABC
Emmy® Award nominee Maura Tierney ("ER") has joined "The Whole Truth" as a series regular. The new drama series from Jerry Bruckheimer Television will air Wednesdays from 10:00-11:00 p.m., ET this fall on ABC. With a unique alternative narrative structure that chronicles the way a case is built from the perspectives of both the defense and prosecution, "The Whole Truth" shows each side equally and keeps its audience guessing, shifting allegiances of guilt or innocence until the very final scene.
Kathryn Peale (Tierney), the product of a New England background and a sheriff father, is a deputy bureau chief in the Manhattan District Attorney's office. Jimmy Brogan (Rob Morrow, "Numb3rs"), born and raised in Hell's Kitchen and a friend of Kathryn's since their days at Yale Law School, is one of New York's rising criminal attorney stars. These two evenly matched legal masters will square off each week as the central characters of the series.
Tierney played Abby Lockhart for eight seasons on the long-running hit series, "ER," earning an Emmy® Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2001. In 2009 she began recurring on "Rescue Me," opposite Denis Leary, and has reprised her role for the 2011 season. Tierney was previously a familiar face to television viewers after her four-year role as Lisa Miller on the critically acclaimed comedy "NewsRadio." Also an accomplished film actor, she had notable roles in the comedies "Baby Mama," with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, and "Semi-Pro," opposite Will Ferrell and Woody Harrelson. Other feature credits include "Diggers," "Welcome to Mooseport," "Instinct" (opposite Anthony Hopkins and Cuba Gooding Jr.), "Primal Fear," "Insomnia" (with Al Pacino, Robin Williams and Hilary Swank) and "Scotland, PA" (also starring Christopher Walken). She earned critical praise for her role in Mike Nichols' "Primary Colors," alongside John Travolta and Emma Thompson, as well as her work on "Liar, Liar," opposite Jim Carrey. In 2006 Tierney starred in the Off-Broadway production of Neil LaBute's "Some Girl(s)" at the Lucille Lortel Theater, joining the cast with Eric McCormack, Fran Drescher, Judy Reyes and Brooke Smith. Additionally she starred in Nicky Silver's "Three Changes" with Dylan McDermott, and most recently in The Wooster Group's "North Atlantic," with Frances McDormand.
In addition to Tierney and Morrow, "The Whole Truth" stars Christine Adams ("Home Again"), Anthony Ruivivar ("Third Watch"), Eamonn Walker ("Oz") and Sean Wing ("Beautiful People").
"The Whole Truth" is produced by Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Jerry Bruckheimer Television and Warner Bros. Television. Jerry Bruckheimer (the "CSI" series), Jonathan Littman (the "CSI" series) and Ed Zuckerman ("Law & Order") are the executive producers. Tom Donaghy ("Without a Trace"), who attended NYU with Tierney, and KristieAnne Reed ("Dark Blue") are co-executive producers. Donaghy wrote the pilot, which was directed by Alex Graves ("Fringe"), who also executive-produced the pilot.

You mean you can edit her page? I never really understood how Imdb works. Anyway, there's still a big mistake on 'The Whole Truth' page. They say Maura will play ... Joely Richardson !!! Can you edit that? And yes, I also recognised Dr. Anspaugh I edited her Wikipedia page, not IMDB. I'm fairly certain you need to be subscribed to IMDBPro to muck around with the pages over there.

It's just saying that they're reshooting the pilot with Maura and that's the episode we'll see when the show starts, not Joely's version.

Nice article with no mistakes... Maura Tierney Lands A New Role Posted by Staff on Jun 16th, 2010 It’s nice to see good actresses getting good roles. Actress Maura Tierney has landed a role on the ABC drama ‘The Whole Truth.’ The Jerry Bruckheimer series was supposed to star Joley Richardson, but when she had to drop out of the series due to personal reasons, Tierney was chosen as her replacement. The pilot featured Richardson as a D.A. in Manhattan with the male lead being played by Rob Morrow. The pilot will now be reshot with Tierney in place as D.A. Kathryn Peale. I have to say that Tierney has been an underrated actress for a long time now. Beginning with ‘Newsradio’ in the 90’s and then moving to ‘ER’, where she was for 10 years, Tierney is believeable in almost any role she plays. Some critics are saying that ‘The Whole Truth’ could be the breakout drama of the fall season. ABC has done well with comedies lately, and now they are really trying to get a drama on the must watch list. Tierney is 45, divorced from director Billy Morrissette and has no children. She had a tumor removed from her breast in 2009, but has fully recovered. She has also appeared on the big screen in such movies as ‘Welcome to Mooseport’, ‘Insomnia’, and ‘Semi-Pro.’ www.ecanadanow.com/entertainment/2010/06/16/maura-tierney-lands-a-new-role/

Very nice, thanks Sissa. But I wish they had cited which critics have said they felt it was going to be a big hit, I would love to read those reviews.

I hope someone can answer a few questions about The Whole Truth for me. These may have already been answered, but I was camping in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado last week and couldn't check the Internet.
Is the show being shot in NYC or LA?
Is the format similar to law & Order in that the prosecution ( Maura's scenes) case will be in the first half hour of the show and then the second half hour will be the defense? Will we be seeing Maura throughout the hour or just at the beginning and very end (verdict).
What is the competition on NBC, CBS, & Fox?
When is the premier date? Thanks everyone!

We don't know for sure yet if it's being shot in NY or LA, but hopefully we find out soon. We don't know the premiere date either - sometime in late September, I would assume.
The competition will be two other new law shows (Fox doesn't have 10pm programming) - The Defenders on CBS with Jerry O'Connell and Jim Belushi, and L&O: Los Angeles on NBC, which still hasn't named its cast yet.
Based on the pilot, the character of Kathryn is featured throughout - it cuts back and forth a lot between Kathryn and Jimmy. So if the rest of the show follows that format, it shouldn't be a situation where she's missing for a big chunk of the episode.

I think they´ll have to recast the girl who plays younger Katie. The girl is as blond as Joely - you all can see it at imdb.

I’m a fan of Tierney's past work, but I don’t know if anyone can save dialogue this bad. Which is why we all need to pray daily that they make some major changes with this show when they reshoot the pilot and start on future episodes - Maura's brilliant, but she's not a magician or miracle worker LOL

Agreed. Pretty sure changes would have been made to fit her character.
