Hahaha Paige! That is SO true! But I thought it would air from January or February...? Well, I only watched S5 and I wasn't planning to watch until Maura was in it agian, but reading this makes me curious! Maybe I'm gonna download it

You should definitely watch it - it has been a very good season. I also think it would be goo to know the basis of what is happening just before Maura makes her encore appearance!

Did anybody watch last night's episode? I'm really glad this shortened season is almost over - I hope Maura appreciates the torture I've gone through in trying to keep up with this show for her LOL. Callie Thorne is SO much fun to watch, but I'm sick to death of the endless Janet/Tommy/Sheila triangle.
The only interesting tidbit from last night, I thought, was that Damian lost his virginity to the girl from the rival firehouse. So it's probably for the best that Tommy kept Kelly from sleeping with him last season LOL

I did catch last night's episode, Tara. And I, too, am glad that it's a shortened season, even if I do love RM. Callie Thorne is extraordinary. Consistently, every season. I think she just has the greatest acting ability -- she is funny; she can be physical; she can be serious (that monologue from S5 -- amazing). It's funny, I couldn't stand the Jodie/Clemente arch in "ER", but after watching CT in "Rescue Me", she's made me love everything she does. The triangle thing has got to come to an end. And I really am tired of Tommy and Janet, for the nth time now, giving their relationship another go -- let it be already. I don't know... -- I think Kelly would have taught Damien some very helpful tricks, hah. I loved Needles' rant to the Fire Head, and Franco & Shawn giving Damien advice -- that made me laugh. Still, can't wait for Maura's arch next season. Do we know how many episodes she is on for?

I completely agree about Callie Thorne! I couldn't stand her character on ER, but in RM, she is fantastic. She gets so emotional and what she says is often empowering and true. I love her character!
Although the love triangle is obnoxious, I feel that Tommy will always feel obligated to go back to Janet time and time again, while in his heart he knows that his lust is aimed at Sheila. Lust and love are two completely different things, just as the two woman are. I think the writers know that they need to keep the two woman stranded together by Tommy and that situation alone.

Totally agree, Paige, particularly with your point about Tommy feeling obligated to go back to Janet over and over again. It is of no secret that Tommy is a creature of habit (in regards to both his relationships with Sheila & Janet, his kids, and of course, his drinking), but what does Janet get out of it all?
I think she gets comfortable with the familiarity of being with Tommy. And I think she forgets just how damaging being with Tommy can be -- she said it herself, "I hate what you've made me." Why does she continually keep giving him chances then?
There will inevitably be a fall out...

I just saw last weeks episode. Do you all still think this is some kind of dream or if it's real? The love triangle doesn't really bother me, probably because I missed a big part of that during the earlier seasons. I just love this show, even without Maura, because of the humor. I also loved Needles rampage to the Fire Head I think the storyline of Mike and Sean, trying to make to feel the dying firefighter feel better, is very sweet. One more thing: That funny scene when Sean brings back the porn box into the station and he's explaining why it took him so long ... g iving the old doodle dandy a yankee (not sure if I wrote it correctly ;D ;D ;D) This scene made me think of one of the songs in 'North Atlantic' and I'm sure Tara knows which one I'm thinking about

I'm not sure what I think about this season anymore - other than the fact that I loathe Janet and I can't wait for this season to end so it will get us closer to next season and Maura.

Agree with you Tara, I watched last night and the best thing about this season is that it's almost over and that makes us closer to Maura's episodes next year.
I can't stand Janet either, and I think Callie Thorne is tremendous as Sheila and has been robbed of Emmy nominations, but I'm sick of Sheila as a love interest for Tommy too. It will be so ridiculous if Leary and Tolan have him end up with either of them. Plus it looks like Damien might have died in last night's episode, and that's just a cliche' plot twist that's over the top (jumped the shark!).
Bring on season 7, give us Maura, and let's end this.

I haven't watched last nights epi yet but it does seem like Damien died. This is sad

Just finished watching last night's ep, and yeah, it doesn't look too good for Damien. I'm also worried about Lou -- for the last few episodes we've constantly seen him struggle whilst on the job, and I know that he's going to really battle with himself in order to retire; clearly, he does not want to give up being a fire fighter.
I'm looking forward to the finale.

I still think it's possible that everything's a dream. Beyond Colleen being an alcoholic, beyond losing Janet and Sheila to other men, what would be Tommy's greatest nightmare? Damien getting killed on the job. So I'm going to stick with that theory until they inevitably prove me wrong - since my theories are *never* right LOL

I don't know what I believe regarding the dream/not-dream idea. If it turns out to be the former, I'll be a little let down, but that all depends on how it is played out.
I do like the theory of this being a way for all of Tommy's "worst nightmares" to play out in front of him -- and I think losing Lou can also be added to that list.

I really hope Damien didn't die. That would be awful. And I don't want to see Sheila have to deal with that. Too sad. I really hope that everything has been a dream. Denis Leary did say that the very last second of the show (next year) will be a big shock. So I am thinking that it will be him waking up in a bed, and it will leave us all in shock that it was a dream. Only WE won't know what has been a dream, and what has not. Or where the dream began. I think that would be really cool. Or him waking up on September 11th, and everything that happened after really will not have happened yet. It was only a dream. I keep thinking about how they are going to end it. I actually do like the show, I have invested in it.

Yeah, I agree that watching Sheila go through that, losing Damien, would be tough -- even if we know that Callie Thorne would handle it like a champion. Denis Leary did say that, but I really hope it isn't him waking up in a bed and realising that everything that has happened didn't really, or similarly, hasn't happened yet. That just erases everything that we've seen these characters go through and deal with -- I can't see that as being the reward or payoff that both we as an audience deserve, or everyone on the show deserves -- characters, that is. I don't think that is much of a send-off. However, I'm not going to be too judgmental until that final episode airs -- because like I said, it all depends on how it is handled.
