Do we have any specific questions for her? I have a critic who says he'll ask if he sees her at the party tonight. What do we want to know - about Rescue Me? If she'd consider having a fan event and taking us all to dinner?

I love the comment in this article that she wasn't forthcoming about her health. If only these reporters knew her as well as we do...they'd know she's never going to go into a bunch of detail about that kind of stuff LOL. TCA Press Tour: Maura Tierney winds up in role written for her August 1, 2010 | 3:37 pm Maura Tierney was not supposed to be in ABC's new legal drama "The Whole Truth." Executive producer Tom Donaghy had written a lead role on the series for Tierney, who is a longtime friend. But the role went to Joely Richardson ("Nip/Tuck"), while Tierney, who was recovering after being diagnosed with breast cancer, had departed from the cast of "Parenthood." But when Richardson had to deal with personal issues that prompted her exit from the series, Tierney, who was getting better, was hoping to get back to work. "It was joint events happening at the same time," said executive producer Jonathan Littman. "Joely's life is very complicated, and the timing just worked out for Maura." Tierney, who has appeared in several series including "ER" and "NewsRadio," was not particularly forthcoming when taking about her return to work following her health scare. When asked if she had a renewed perspective on life, she replied, "I probably should have more of a perspective than I have. But it's wonderful to know that people care so much." She did add that she had one new priority: "It's a priority to work with people I like and trust. Tom and I have been friends for more than 20 years." latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2010/08/tca-press-tour-maura-tierney-winds-up-in-role-written-for-her.html

Maura Tierney back on TV after breast cancer LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Former "ER" star Maura Tierney said on Sunday she was healthy after breast cancer surgery and is returning to star in a new TV crime series. In a rare media appearance since undergoing surgery to remove a tumor a year ago, Tierney sported a new short hair-do after losing her long brown locks to chemotherapy. "I am good. I am healthy," she told television journalists. "I wasn't thinking about doing another TV show, but I responded to the character. She is so serious and so dear." Tierney, 45, was forced to drop out of the new NBC family drama series "Parenthood" last year because of her illness. She will play prosecutor Kathryn Peale in "The Whole Truth" starting on ABC in September. Executive producer Tom Donaghy, who went to college with Tierney, said the part was written specifically with the actress in mind. "Tom and I are real friends," Tierney added. "It is a priority now for me to be able to work with people I really like and trust. I feel it's too much time out of your life to not enjoy it." Tierney is best known for her Emmy-nominated role as Dr. Abby Lockhart on 10 seasons of medical drama "ER", which ended its 15-year run in March 2009. The actress acknowledged the support she had received from friends and fans over the past year. "It is a really wonderful feeling to know that people are caring about something that you have been doing for 20 years," she said. news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20100801/people_nm/us_tierney?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Thanks to everyone who posted all the info and tweets, it was fun to read through all the information. Based on what Maura said about all the support from friends and fans it is safe to say that she did get most if not all the cards and letters fans sent to her over the past year.
I'm really excited for this show now, next ABC needs to air a promo on TV.

PRESS TOUR JOURNAL: Maura Tierney joins 'The Whole Truth' Sunday, August 01, 2010 05:40 PM Written by Rob Owen BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- Maura Tierney, who had to drop out of "Parenthood" last summer (Lauren Graham took over the role) due to a battle with cancer, is now replacing Joely Richardson in ABC's "The Whole Truth" a competently made, fairly entertaining legal procedural (once you get past co-star Rob Morrow's scenery-chewing in the pilot). Morrow said executive producer Tom Donaghy wrote the role with Tierney in mind (they've been "real friends, not Hollywood friends," she said, for 20 years since they went to college together) but she was not available and Richardson was cast in the part. "Joely's life is fairly complicated," executive producer Jonathan Littman said. "It was the right thing to do, to let her go and work with that. The timing worked out with that. Maura was available to come and do it." Tierney said she's healthy and took the role because she liked the script. In the series she plays a prosecutor. "I really responded to the character that Tom wrote, I guess because you wrote it for me. My ego's not involved there," she said, laughing. "I thought it was a really appealing character because she is so serious and she's dear and it's funny and it's interesting to find a character who had such a great a sense of humor and so human." Scenes from the pilot featuring Tierney's character will now need to be re-shot. "It's fascinating, an interesting exercise," said Morrow, who plays a defense attorney. "We shot what will be the second episode first. It was great for us because it allowed us to get in the swing of things. For me the interesting thing is to let my mind go of what was and let what Maura bring as her own thing and let it evolve in that way. I've been talking to myself this weekend about, 'Let it be what it wants to become.'" blogs.sites.post-gazette.com/index.php/arts-a-entertainment/tuned-in-journal/20505-press-tour-journal-maura-tierney-joins-the-whole-truth
It was definitely nice to hear that from her, just to know that our thoughts and support might've made some small difference in everything she went through.
And ITA about the promos - I really hope we start to see them this week or next week at the latest.

TV Guide's writeup about her: The Whole Truth's Maura Tierney: I Have a New Perspective on EverythingAug 1, 2010 08:48 PM ET When Maura Tierney makes her return to TV, it will be in a role tailor-made for her. The 45-year-old actress, who last season dropped out of NBC's Parenthood to undergo breast cancer treatment, recently replaced Joely Richardson on ABC's upcoming legal drama The Whole Truth. But even though she's the second actress to get the part, she was the first person creator and executive producer Tom Donaghy wanted for the role. "I'd been seeing a lot of female characters on television that weren't strong in the way that ... women can be strong and also feminine," Donaghy said at the Television Critics Association's fall TV previews. "I knew Maura had the elegance and ... wit. So, I wrote it with her talents in mind, never thinking she would be available." Although Tierney joked that her ego led her to take on the role, she was somewhat reserved in discussing her health. "I'm healthy, so that was that," Tierney said when asked how she decided to go back to work on this project. "And then I read the script and I liked it, and that was that. That's how I decided. "I wasn't really thinking about anything, and I wasn't thinking about doing another show," she said. "I thought it was a really appealing character because she is so curious and she's dear. And it's funny. I thought it was interesting to find a character that had such a great sense of humor and yet was so driven." So will Tierney's cancer battle have any impact on how she approaches her work? "I kind of have a new perspective on everything in general," she said. "My perspective has [changed] and probably should change more that it has, quite honestly. ... It's a priority for me now to work with people who I really like and trust. It's too much time involved of your life to not enjoy it." Because of the show's format — each episode presents a legal case from the perspectives of both the defense and the prosecution — the episodes are quickly paced, often blending lots of dialogue with action. "There's something about the game of law that these two lawyers enjoy playing that is fast-paced and compulsive, and that attracted me to this particular form," Donaghy said. But Tierney says her time on ER adequately prepared for her those types of more physically demanding shoots. "It's like a reflex for me at this point. I'm like, 'Why don't we just take the Steadicam everywhere,'" Tierney said. "It's very helpful that I had to do so much of that in the other show because it's just part of my muscle memory now." The Whole Truth, which also stars Numb3rs vet Rob Morrow, premieres, Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 10/9c. www.tvguide.com/News/Maura-Tierney-Whole-Truth-1021274.aspx

To Tara and everyone else who posted tweets, articles, pics, etc. all I can say is thank you so much! I wasn't able to be near a computer this evening so thank you so much for all of this information.
She looks great, and of course, knowing how shy, private, and insecure she is it's not surprising she didn't say much about her cancer experience. I actually love that about her, she has so much personal dignity.
Would love to see video footage of this, wonder if there will be anything on the entertainment shows tomorrow?
And OMG how can she walk in those heels? The shoes are beautiful though. And I'm SO happy to hear there will be some humor written into this show. Those clips of the original pilot seemed soooo over-the-top serious. The fact the it was "written for her" also gives me some hope that the writing will be better than it seemed based on the pilot clips.

I don't know if shows like Entertainment Tonight or Access Hollywood cover events like this, but it won't hurt for us to check them out tomorrow just in case.
And we definitely need to keep an eye out for next week's TV Guide and Entertainment Weekly, I'm sure they'll have some pics.
I couldn't agree more. A lot of other actresses would have already put themselves on the covers of magazines or made all the talk show rounds to discuss the details of their illness. There isn't anything wrong with that if that's their choice, but I just have such respect for how Maura has chosen to deal with her private life. We say it so often here that it probably sounds like a cliche by now, but she really is an amazing lady.
