Yes.. I just said this in the other thread, I think this is pretty unfair from WG to misled so many people, they knew there were coming people specially for her, and i think they made advantage of that... Yeah well.... I was a bit suspicious too about Maura HOSTING an evening, sounded not really sth she would looove to do But hey, she surprised us many times this year, so didn't give it a lot of thought... But I guess she's hosting the benefit, through a video; sth they recorded now and just play the vid that evening.... It's a bit unfair.. If this will be it; sth they already know, I'm a bit scared that they did it to misled "all that crazy fans from all over the world coming to our play and pay for it, to see Maura"I can't imagine WG would think like that but... if people want attention or money they do weird things...

I think it's unfair of them also, but Maura does have a history of booking interviews and then cancelling them. Perhaps this is along that same vein. (Although I wish the play in Dublin would have started a couple of weeks later! Maybe she would have been here for the event.)

I've got to defend The Wooster Group here a little bit. They announced the party/hosting by Maura on Dec. 9. It's very possible that the God of Carnage role for Maura was still very much in the formulation, negotiation stage at that time. The Gate Theatre still hasn't officially announced the cast yet, and the blog first posted the news only a few days ago, so the final details on casting has probably just been finalized with the past few weeks. It takes a lot of time and money to get a theatre production together.
The WG is known as a well respected, classy group. I find it hard to believe that they knowingly misled people. I do think that they should contact those who have bought tickets for the party and offer a refund or free tickets to a future performance.

well, 'knowingly misled' is not the right term, I think, rather something like 'boosting the advertising campagne', but the outcome is the same for the Maura fans... though I'd love to see that video, it's intriguing! Maura carrying a camera along wherever she goes, that would be the best Maura movie ever ^.^

Yeah I also think they didn't know about the play when they were planning the benefit and that the original plan was for Maura to be there live. This video thing is just a way to make Maura still be there somehow. I hope it won't just be a 5 minute video and you girls will see some great new Maura stuff that probably won't be available to watch anywhere else

I thought bad for a second over our girl I thought maybe she said yes to this but since TWT is cancelled and maybe she got a nice deal with that theatre she would just drop WG coz she isn't rly a 'hosting-type'. Hahaha!! Actually i wanted to write yesterday "maybe our girl is finally getting a little bitchier, a little more 'LA-style actress' but i just couldn't believe it! But maybe she is?? LOL I wouldn't think she would say yes to an interview and cancel it after, I thought she just would say no. But maybe I'm too short in Mauraworld to know all that (Within 6 days i'm a 1 year member woohoo ;D )

nah, I don't think it has to do with 'bitchiness', just scheduling problems... Maura also has to sign contracts and stick to the rules, she has to apply for jobs etc. (even if the jobs actually apply for her ^.^) She's just a human being who can't be everywhere at the same time...

I'm sure that after being asked to be in the play, The Wooster Group understood that Maura had just gotten this opportunity, and let her out of her obligation to host the benefit. I mean to star in a play in another country is really a once in a lifetime thing, especially because of how much she loves Ireland. I am not mad at her at all, it is just so disappointing after I had already purchased the tickets, scheduled it into my life, and gotten my hopes up about seeing her. I will still be going to the event, and meeting up with Kathy, because I think it will still be fun. There will be alcohol and other cool people there, like Mikhail so I will enjoy it!!

Cool, I thought we wouldn't have to expect more clips now she's already in Ireland. I wonder how many they made. I love this one the most and I think I discovered another Maura-ism

oh my, this one has such a creepy atmosphere ^.^ that music and the voice of Mikhail when he says 'nerrrve center' and 'dead people' ^0^ I feel like saying ~ oh Maura, don't go in there and watch your neck ^.^ and it's weird to see her from this angle! you have to be shorter than her to look up ^^ it's definitely not Luka's perspective or something ^^ awwww, I'm in love, thank you, Paige ^^
what Mauraism? she's so cutsie... I had a similar printer experience lately ^0^

It's a great turn of events for everyone who'll get to see her in Dublin, but I feel terrible for Kathy and especially Nicole, since it was going to be her first time meeting Maura. I'm sure there will be another opportunity in the near future, though, especially if Maura keeps doing stage work.

I felt disappointed with the news but there isn't anything one can do. ALL events are subject to change due to the person's calendar. With TWG, I had the impression it would be done deal, like she for sure would be hosting the event since they announced it and invited people using her name. Don't want to blame anyone but I think it was a bit unfair with the people who would attend it only to see her. I don't remember reading any *** below the invitation saying that it was subject to change. I guess that's why they recorded the video but it is not the same. I am happy I decided not to attend it otherwise I would be pi***&&&&^^^SSSSed! I'll be honest with you, if I hadn't bought the tickets to the play/party, bought train tickets and made hotel reservations *before I heard that Maura wasn't going to be there, I wouldn't be going. As it is, all that stuff was done, and I had also gotten a friend to go with me, so I'm going to make the best of it. Plus I do get to meet Paige again, and Nicole this time. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure I'll have a good time, but not as good a time as if Maura was there in person.
