Taras, if you can elaborate (understand if you can't due to not wanting to start rumors, protect your "source", etc.), is the reason Maura might not be involved due to her health? Other projects/schedule? Any idea why?
It seems odd that they would scrap it altogether since they have invested money in sets, contracts, etc. Most bloggers and industry people have said Parenthood is NBC's best new show, and Maura is the best thing about it (MVP!). Hard to believe that unless it was a health issue NBC/Universal wouldn't have Maura involved and go forward with the project.

Her health wasn't mentioned, just that the rumor was that she didn't want to do the show anymore. But the person stressed to me that these are just rumors, so I guess all we can do is take them with a grain of salt until some definitive news comes along. I hope we don't have to wait until November to hear something, but who knows.
I know it sounds silly and superstitious, but when that executive died on the set during the filming of the pilot, I jokingly said I hope that didn't curse the show. But then with Maura's health and these delays in production, it's sort of starting to feel that way. Hopefully that's just me being a pessimist, though, and everything works out for the show to go forward with Maura and be successful.

Thanks Taras. I wonder if she really just doesn't want to go back to living in LA 7-9 months of the year. Maybe living and enjoying being back "home" in NYC for a year while having a major health scare and being close to her family has given her a different perspective. That and what appears to be a serious relationship with someone who also lives there.
Hard to believe NBC would let her out of a contract since she is getting such good reviews in the pilot. I wonder what ever happened to the project she was trying to develop with Richard Shepard? Maybe there is some progress with that and it would shoot in NYC and she could have the best of both worlds. The "Rescue Me" problem would also be solved.
Would love to see her in Parenthood, but she needs to do what's best for her own happiness.

Thanks Tara for the info. I like to prepare myself for the worst case scenario. But at the same time I´m crossing my fingers hoping for best.
I can´t imagine NBC giving up Parenthood. What these people are going to do? More Jay Leno followed by Jay Leno?
Also, they already changed from fall to midseason to give time to Maura get better - so, there´s no doubt in my mind that she´s really important for the project. Would they give up on her so easily?
If Maura is out of the project - they´ll have to do the pilot again - with her substitute. I think they would be searching the sub already, or at least talking about it...
Now, if SHE doesn´t want work on it. Well, I guess there are tons of reasons for it. These series are years of work. Her last 2 series as regular took almost 14 years....
I really don´t know what to think. As my mom says in these cases, lets hope for the best outcome for Maura personal and professionally.
As far as I'm concerned, I won´t watch Parenthood without Maura (ok, maybe the pilot - just to scream how Maura would be better than the subs). And I´ll follow Maura whatever she does.

ITA guys. Whatever does or doesn't happen with Parenthood, as long as Maura's happy and healthy, we can handle anything else.

However, I would like to see her happy and healthy....and working so we can enjoy her work. If NBC was sold enough on 'Parenthood' to shelve it while she dealt with the health issue, maybe they would move it east - where it was originally set. Quite frankly, Maura, Mae and just a few of the actors already chosen could seal the show for me. Let them cast east coast actors for a change. I am so sick of the uber-tan 90210 type casting anyway.

Maura Tierney drops out of 'Parenthood' Maura Tierney has pulled from NBC's upcoming drama series "Parenthood" because of a scheduling conflict between the show's production and her breast cancer treatments. NBC has begun the process of recasting her role in the project based on the 1980s movie, written and executive produced by Jason Katims. "Ms. Tierney and her doctors remain confident that the outcome of her treatments will be positive," Tierney's spokeswoman said Thursday. "She is deeply disappointed that she will not be able to rejoin such a highly respected, talented, fun and funny group of actors and wishes to thank Jason Katims and NBC for their patience and support." "Parenthood," in which Tierney plays one of the central characters, was originally slated to premiere this month but was pushed to midseason in July when, shortly before the series was to go into production, Tierney's doctors discovered a tumor in her breast. At the time, production start date was postponed until November to give Tierney time to undergo the necessary medical procedures. It now appears Tierney's treatment will take longer, leading to NBC's decision to recast the role in order to make the midseason launch date. "While we are saddened that Maura Tierney won't be able to continue in her current role in 'Parenthood,' our main concern is for her quick and full recovery," an NBC spokesman said. "Our thoughts and best wishes are with her." www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3i050aed23d9fdf6b33e004bad4fe3c0da

Oh man, now I´m worried.
After I saw the clip of Scott Grimes talking about a friend who found out had cancer...and he said "she´s great now" I really hopped he was talking about Maura. Damn.
Is it possible that she just doesn´t want do the show anymore and is using her health problem as an excuse? Can I hope for that?
Do you guys think it is possible to see the pilot they made with her one day, ever?
Heal Maura, heal!!!
