I just saw the announcement on Twitter! That's great for him, those movies are getting a ton of buzz in the press and could be huge hits.
Now I just need to finally get around to reading the books so I can get to know his character. I've had the first book on my Kindle for months and have just been too lazy to start it LOL

Oh, that is great news. I've seen the first two original films, and while I liked the first better, they certainly are great movies.
I haven't read the books, but I'm now inclined to do so knowing that he's involved. Hopefully the films can mimic the same success as the Swedish ones.

Goran Visnijic Cast In David Fincher's The Girl With The Dragon TattooBy Eric Eisenberg Published: 2011-02-09 21:39:51 If you're like me, you assume that casting is over when production has been going for a few months. In the case of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, however, you'd be wrong. The David Fincher adaptation of the first book in Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy has just added another name, and it's a pretty significant part.
Goran Visnijic, best known for having played Dr. Luka Kovac on ER, will be playing the role of Dragan Armansky in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, according to Deadline. In the books, Armansky is Lisbeth Salander's boss at the security firm where she works and, for a time, finds himself attracted to her, though he never makes a move. As the character is present in all three books, Visnijic has signed a three film contract.
Though I've liked every move that Fincher has made with this project thus far, I must say that I don't understand this casting. In both the books and the Swedish language film (in which the character is played by Michalis Koutsogiannakis) the character is an unattractive middle-aged man. Visnijic is in his late 30s and is as far from homely as one can get. So much of Armansky's character comes from his appearance, which makes me think that they must be changing him somehow, which would be a shame. Larsson's books are filled with so many asshole male characters, but Armansky is a actually a decent guy. I hope that screenwriter Steven Zaillian hasn't changed that.

Morning Shots: 'Guitar Hero' Will No Longer Teach Your Kids About Bob Seger by Linda Holmes a cup of coffee iStockphoto.com From: www.npr.org/blogs/monkeysee/2011/02/10/133649237/morning-shots-guitar-hero-will-no-longer-teach-your-kids-about-bob-segerThings really do come and go awfully quickly sometimes: It seems like just yesterday that Guitar Hero was a fad, and now it's dead. Where will my nephews learn hair-band classics of the past?
The Wrap has an interesting piece on the Oscar ceremony and the problem of Banksy, whose documentary Exit Through The Gift Shop might very well win for Best Documentary. Given that Banksy guards his identity with hoods and masks and stuff, they're trying to make sure things don't get out of hand if he's called upon to accept something.
The New York Times reports on an ordinance in Los Angeles that would require the adult-film industry to use condoms in an effort to avoid the spread of disease.
In a way, it makes perfect sense: Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy is apparently one of the leading candidates to direct the recently revealed Annie remake starring Willow Smith.
Onetime ER hottie Goran Visnjic has taken a role in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, playing Lisbeth Salander's boss at the security company. I have to say that introducing that particular character in the person of a noted sexpot brings a dimension I don't think I took away from the book.
Two pieces of Grammy-related news: Bob Dylan will play with Mumford & Sons and the Avett Brothers, and Dr. Dre will appear with Eminem. But the most important Grammy-related news? Stephen Thompson and I will be live-blogging the Grammys right in this space on Sunday night.
And finally: I don't want to be all "I told you so," but Deadline notes that Ricky Gervais has blogged about proposing to NBC that Will Arnett (seemingly no longer obligated to Fox's Running Wilde) be added to the cast of The Office after Steve Carell leaves. And, you know, if that happens? I told you so.

'Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' Adds 'ER' Star Goran VisnjicPosted 2 hrs ago by Kat Rosenfield in Casting News, Movie News, Movies From: hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/2011/02/10/girl-with-the-dragon-tattoo-goran-visnjic/Things are picking up on David Fincher's American reboot of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo"! First came the news that Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig had been cast in the lead roles of Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist; then came Rooney's un-freakin-believable debut in costume on the cover of W; and now, reports are rolling in that Goran Visnjic has snagged the role of Dragan Armansky, the CEO of the security firm that employs hacker Lisbeth.
According to Deadline, Goran, the Croatian-born hottie of TV's "ER," is on board for all three films in the series—a nice stint in the spotlight for an actor who's been mostly occupied with small-screen and indie projects for the past few years. And while he is a couple decades younger than we'd imagined the man playing this role would be, we're not complaining...especially since this means that "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" just doubled its share of Ridiculously Sexy Dudes.
Now all we need is a handful of behind-the-scenes photos from production, showing Goran and Daniel Craig wearing nothing but loincloths and wrestling in a vat of whipped cream.
No, there's nothing like that in the source material. But it could still happen. YES IT COULD.
Are you getting pumped for the American version of "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo"?

Goran Visnjic To Boss Around ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ From: www.nextmovie.com/blog/goran-visnjic-the-girl-with-the-dragon-tattoo/Lisbeth Salander now has a boss… as much as Lisbeth Salandar can have a boss, anyway.
The latest addition to David Fincher’s merry band of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” players is Goran Visnjic. The former “ER” hunk will be playing the role of Dragan Armansky, the CEO of the security firm that employs the Girl herself, according to Deadline.
Visnjic joins a cast that already includes the man who won the James Bond role he was up for several years ago, Daniel Craig, as well as Robin Wright, Stellan Skarsgard and Fincher’s “The Social Network” alum, Rooney Mara.
Visnjic recently appeared in “Beginners,” the Sundance darling co-starring Ewan McGregor and Christopher Plummer, and in the BBC underwater thriller mini-series, “The Deep.” A few years back, he moped around with Jennifer Garner in “Elektra.”
The American version of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” is one of the most anticipated movies of the year — unfortunately, we’ll have to wait for the end of it to see it, as it doesn’t open until Dec. 21.

Goran Visnjic Joins David Fincher’s ‘The Girl With Dragon Tattoo’From: blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/archives/goran_visnjic_joins_david_finchers_the_girl_with_dragon_tattoo/#Yep, “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” continues to add cast members to the film that is still shooting and will continue to do so through the spring. And the latest to join the cast is a familiar face we haven’t really seen in a while.
Deadline reports that former “ER” star Goran Visnjic has joined the highly anticipated film and has signed up for three films, in the eventuality that sequels are made (likely something the rest of the key cast have options for in their contracts as well). Visnjic will play Dragan Armansky, the CEO of Milton Security that employs the young hacker Lisbeth Salander, and who becomes a father figure to the disturbed girl. While his post-“ER” career hasn’t quite gone the way of George Clooney (though it could be worse, he could be a Noah Wyle) this project should raise his profile considerably.
Visnjic joins a cast the includes Daniel Criag, Rooney Mara, Robin Wright, Christopher Plummer, Joely Richardson, Steven Berkoff, David Dencik, Stellan Skarsgård, Yorick van Wageningen, Bengt C.W. Carlsson and Mathilda von Essen. The film will hit theaters on December 21st and the poster may or may not include a topless Rooney Mara.Kevin Jagernauth posted to Actors, Goran Visnjic, Directors, David Fincher, Films, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo at 10:51 pm on February 9, 2011

Yes, because of his character. He's playing an older man than he is, so Armanski's about 49 years old. I think he looks awesome! It's so fantastic that a little make-up can change the whole man! I've never thought about this but this time I do. I think he'll ROCK in this, as he always does in others!
