All I Want For Christmas...
OK I just had an idea for a fan fic so I decided to write it. In this fic, Eric is 8 years younger than Abby. It is not based on season 13. Oh and Luka is only a year older than Abby.
A 15 year old Abby Lockhart sat in her room watching TV on yet another Christmas Eve. A sleepy Eric walked in and rubbed his eyes. "Where's mommy?" He asked, joining Abby on her bed. She opened her arms and pulled him into them. "She... um...well Eric, I'm not supposed to tell you this, but she went to the North Pole to have a talk with Santa Clause." She said, very well knowing that was not the case. She had once again disappeared with another one of her boyfriends. His eyes widened into huge chocolate brown circles. "Santa Clause!?!" Abby smiled and nodded her head. "She's telling him to make sure he comes here first, and leave everything my little brother wants!" Eric let out a scream and jumped off the bed. "Come on Abby! We have to get his cookies ready!!! Come on Abby!!!" He yelled, grabbing her hand and dragging her off the bed. She laughed at how excited her little brother was, and followed him into the kitchen.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After Eric had gone to bed, she gathered up all the wrapped presents Maggie left in her closet. There were a few labeled "Abby", but not many. They were mostly all for Eric. She arranged them neatly under the tree and grabbed the plate of cookies from the table. Underneath it, a note was neatly folded. She opened it up and saw it was a note for Santa.
Dear Santa Clause,
I have triid to be a very good boy this year. I hope you like the milk and cookees I left you. Me and my sisster made them. Pleese leeve Abby the best presints you gots in your toy bag becuz she realy deservs them. She is the bestest sisster a brother could ever ask for. Mery Chrismas Santa!
Love,
Eric Wyczenski
Abby smiled as a tear fell onto the paper. She quickly wiped it away and dried her eyes. She never cried...she was Abby Wyczenski. Abby set the plate back down and grabbed just the cookies instead. Then she downed the milk and went to her room.
When she got to her bed, Abby took out a notebook from her dresser and ripped out a page. Before she put the notebook back in, she placed the note inside. Then with her left hand, she began to write a letter.
Dear Eric,
You have been a very very good boy this year. Thank you for the milk and cookies, they were delicious. I hope you love all your presents. Don't worry, I took care of Abby! Well I must get going, I have all the girls and boys of the world to visit tonight! You too have a very Merry Christmas! Ho! Ho! Ho!
Love,
Santa Clause
Abby then walked back out into the living room and set the note down on top of the plate. As she neared her room, she heard her cell phone ringing. "Who the hell is calling me at midnight?" She thought to herself. Jumping over the bed, she grabbed her phone so it wouldn't wake Eric up. "Maggie" flashed across the screen. "Oh wonderful..." Abby said flipping it open.
"Yes Maggie?"
"Oh, Abby! I'm so glad I got you. I just called to tell you that I might not be home tomorrow."
"What!?! You have me play Santa for you and you won't be home for Christmas? That's great Maggie."
"Abby try and understand. I would be there but-" She said before being cut off.
"No Maggie you understand this! I don't say anything when you disappear for a few days with one of your street junkie boyfriends! I don't say anything when I have to take care of Eric because you don't bother to come home from work! And I don't say anything when you go off your meds and have some crazy manic freaking episode! But leaving your family on Christmas! What kind of mother does that to her kids!?!" Abby screamed, hanging up the phone.
The anger swelled in her guts. God Maggie was such a bitch! Abby decided she needed to go for a walk to cool off. So she called up Leo, a man that she'd known since she was 10. He'd do anything for her, anytime. He agreed to come over and watch Eric while she was gone. Abby threw on a black hoodie and locked the door behind her. Hurrying down the stairs, she burst through the door and started to run down the street. Faster and faster until she was going her fastest.
Tears ran down her cheeks, and made her eyeliner run. This time however, she let them come, she didn't wipe them away. They represented 15 long years of bottled up anger, frustration, and fear.
After a few miles, she stopped at a 24 hour gas station. Catching her breath, Abby grabbed a pack of cigarettes off the counter. She pulled out her fake ID and showed it to the clerk, even though he wasn't really looking. Once she was outside again, she sat down against a flickering street light. Abby pulled out a lighter from her pocket and lit a cigarette. Breathing the smoke in slowly, she looked around. A silver car drove by with a couple in it laughing cheerfully. That's what she wanted- a normal life. A boyfriend. A mom she could talk to about girl stuff. She let the smoke out, creating a dark cloud in front of her. In an instant though, her dreams faded into the night, along with the smoke.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 hours and a pack of cigarettes later, Abby returned home to find Leo sleeping on their couch with the TV on. She grabbed the controller and turned it off, then woke Leo up.
"Thanks for staying with him." Abby said as he got up.
"Anytime Abby, you know that." He said sniffing the air. "You smell like smoke."
"I walked to a gas station and there were some guys smoking outside." She lied.
"Oh, OK. Well if you need to talk, I'm here for you." He said walking to the door.
"I know. Thank you. Merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas. Goodnight."
"Goodnight."
