NBC and ER have decided not to take the show off the air from January until April and are also considering extending the season to 24 or 25 episodes in order to limit the number of in-season repeats. Here's the article www.nytimes.com/2006/10/12/arts/television/12emer.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

No...they WERE planning 22 episodes. Now they are rethinking and may add 3 more to make it 25. And frankly, I don't mind reruns...as long as it's not 2 a month as they did last year. It was hard of a nonregular watcher to keep up with things.

It's just that I have been though all this befor. First they only did 22 episodes a season than they put my show from Wednesday to Friday, killed off my favourit character and then it got cancelled.
