I used to be a big fan of "The Office" -- I mean, it used to be my favourite show. But these past few years have just not been up to par with the first three seasons, in my opinion. We know that Maura is a more than capable comedic actress, but my hope is that "The Office" leaves television screens along with Carell after this current season. Which is doubtful, I know, since it's been confirmed it will be back for season 8, but that's only what the rest of the cast are contracted to. For me, it's just gotten too silly and eccentric. On another note, looks like some others have similar hopes for Maura's future projects: -- gawker.com

mauralove, I love watching her with kids, too. Especially babies. There was something about seeing her with a kid in "ER" that kind of just struck a cord. Although, that was due, in large part, to how much I loved seeing Abby with a baby, and just the fact that she even had one, you know, after everything her character had been through. It was an amazing step for her.
Unfortunately, given her age, if Maura were to play a mother now, the kids would have to be a little older than an infant. Watching the original "Parenthood" promo's, though, I really did look forward to seeing her play a (struggling) parent.
Have to see what comes up, huh?

i was just about to mention her in Parenthood i agree 100%! i like seeing with kids my age..like late teens. it really entertains me. the fact that she couldve worked with kids my age, i dont know..it brings out her maternalness, is that even a word? haha but you know what i mean. like it makes me think about Maura actully being a mother..but she doesnt have much patients. with makes me alittle scared about her disaplinning her kids.

How funny would that be, Maura as the new "Michael Scott?" Haha I think she would be capable of giving those odd glances to the camera, and saying cooky things. I love the idea. But I think "The Office" will only make it 1 more season without Steve Carrell, so that would only be a short term job.
I think she should have her own show, on a cable network (F/X, USA, Showtime, HBO, Max, etc.) Those shows are well liked/loved, and don't require 23 million people to watch in order to make it a "success."

How about this show: the naked truthI know, it would be kind of weird Maura going from the whole truth to the naked truth hahaha I bolded (is this a word?) positive things of this show in this article HBO Nabs Clyde Phillips Crime Drama By NELLIE ANDREEVA | Tuesday October 26, 2010 EXCLUSIVE: Clyde Phillips has set up his first post-Dexter project. After a bidding war among several cable networks, HBO has landed a character-driven drama from Phillips and Lionsgate TV based on the Israeli series The Naked Truth. Phillips, who spent 4 years at Showtime running Dexter, will write the adaptation and will executive produce the project, his first under the 2-year overall deal with Lionsgate TV he signed in June. The Naked Truth is set in a major East Coast metropolitan precinct and follows the officers investigating the disappearance of a teenage girl from a prominent family in the pressure cooker atmosphere of an explosive high-profile case that has implications not just for the family of the victim, but for the cops themselves and the political infrastructure of the city. "It's about the cops encountering people on the worst day of the citizens' life," Phillips said. "It's a bit of an exploration of the middle class and the challenges we all face; it's a heartbreaking story about a family in a time of crisis and how everyone deals with it." The original series, created, written and directed by Uri and Benny Barbash for Israel's Channel 10, is set entirely in an interrogation room and the adjacent room, separated by a dividing wall. In his U.S. version, Phillips plans to stay close to the basic story in the Israeli series while adding several changes, including opening up the action to other areas of the precinct but keeping it indoors. With its interior settings and focus on character and dialogue, The Naked Truth draws parallels to another HBO series based on Israeli format, In Treatment. (Israeli creators often say they are confined to a set by the limitations of their budgets but make up for that with inventive storytelling.) However, Phillips said that The Naked Truth actually reminded him more of ER, which too had an interior setting inside a hospital and centered on "intense personal dramas." Phillips had been working on several other series ideas when Lionsgate TV's Kevin Beggs and Barbara Wall gave him a DVD of The Naked Truth. He loved it right away, and half-way through the first episode, he knew he wanted to do it. "I can't wait to write those powerful and challenging scenes," he said. "It's all just character, character, character."Lionsgate acquired the format rights for The Naked Truth from the Gersh-repped Armoza Formats, which distributes the original series. Alon Aranya will executive produce alongside Phillips. After 4 years at the helm, Phillips departed the Los Angeles-based Showtime drama Dexter in December to spend more time with his family in Connecticut. If The Naked Truth goes to series, it will be filmed on the East Coast so he can stay close to home. www.deadline.com/2010/10/hbo-nabs-clyde-phillips-naked-truth/#more-77515

I know, it hit me when I was watching my season 6 dvds, I can totally see Maura as the branch mamager of Dunder Mifflin scranton. I don't want her to be the female Michael though, she should be a good boss who is not a total distraction for her employees. Although it would be fun to see her react to the crazy employees. But so far the producers are looking at men to replace Carell but we'll see what happens. And I agree it would only be a short term job because I only see "The Office" going on for one more additional season.

Brilliant find, sissa. And to see Clyde Phillips' name attached to the project makes me hopeful that it will be a good series.
I've mentioned a numerous amount of times how much I'd love to see Maura take on a role in "Dexter" -- this seems like the next best thing. And to read him make that comparison to "ER" is almost a little like fate. Oh, and the fact its to be filmed on the east coast? That's awfully convenient.
I haven't heard of the Israeli original, but I'm feeling inclined to check it out. This adaption is checking all the boxes on my list --
1) On a cable network 2) Driven by character and dialogue 3) Renowned show-runner
Who knows -- maybe this is the role we've been waiting for...

more options Grey’s Anatomy Creator Shonda Rhimes Develops a New TV Drama About PR Crisis Management 11/30/10 at 09:15 AM Comment 00Comment 00Comments . Grey's Anatomy guru Shonda Rhimes knows about gracefully dealing with PR landmines, thanks to certain former cast members, and now she's mining the world of crisis management for a new show: Vulture has learned that Rhimes is creating a series for ABC inspired by the career of legendary public-relations consultant Judy Smith — the woman who's helped guide Bill Clinton, Michael Vick, and New York Governor David Paterson through various scandals and snafus. But it won't be just a ripped-from-the-headlines procedural about famous folks trying to bounce back: Based on the show's description, there will be more than a few Rhimes-esque soapy twists involved. Per the logline we've heard, the currently untitled project (which some development trackers had been calling In Crisis) will revolve around the life and work of a professional fixer and her dysfunctional staff. Rhimes is writing the script for the pilot and will executive produce with her ABC Studios–based Shondaland production company. (Smith is also set to be a producer on the project, which is being developed for the 2011–12 TV season.) The potential show is still in its infancy, but the idea sounds like something ABC executives might be keen on. The network hasn't had much luck developing a Law & Order–like procedural in the legal or police arenas, and the untitled Rhimes hour could deliver the sorts of pulp-y stories L&O offers, but without the increasingly tired cops-and-lawyers motif. And who knows: Maybe Smith might be able to convince some of her ex-clients to do ironic cameos: Vick as a pet-shop owner, perhaps? Ha-ha-ha, ick? The Smith-inspired crisis project isn't the only potential series in Rhimes's increasingly packed hopper. In addition to the new medical drama Off the Map (which premieres on ABC in January), Shondaland is developing Life After Marriage, a comedic drama that uses a divorce as the starting point for a show about new lives. Rhimes is supervising this show as an exec producer; the writer is Danny Brocklehurst, best known for his work on the award-winning British TV drama Shameless (the U.S. adaptation of that show debuts on Showtime in January). nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2010/11/shonda_rhimes_in_crisis_judy_s.html

Prime Suspect project (NBC) is still alive and they need a lead. Maybe they ask Maura again. There´s a sitcom from Peter Tolan "concil of dads" - FOX. They worked together before and she would be back to comedy. She could play the wife. And the show could be an ensemble work, as she likes. info: The Council of Dads, a half-hour comedy based on the non-fiction book by Bruce Feiler. In doing so, Tolan landed one of the biggest commitments so far this year. I hear that, after bidding from multiple networks, The Council of Dads, which Tolan will write and executive produce, has been given a $1.5 million pilot production commitment by Fox. Sony TV, where Tolan is based, is producing. Memoir The Council of Dads: My Daughters, My Illness, and the Men Who Could Be Me chronicles the real-life experiences of bestselling author Feiler (Walking the Bible) who in 2008 was diagnosed with rare, life-threatening cancer. Fearing what the absence of a father figure would do to the lives of his young twin daughters, he looked at his male fiends and realized that there was no one person perfectly suited for the job. So he formed a Council of Dads, which consisted of six of his closest friends who agreed to help him raise his daughters. Each had his area of expertise: homework dad, outdoors dad, etc., so the girls knew who to turn to for a specific issue when their mother's help was not enough. Feiler's story has a happy ending - he made a full recovery and the Council was never fully activated. But in the series, the dad dies, and the show chronicles how the kids are raised with the help of the Council. Feiler will serve as a consultant on the adaptation. www.deadline.com/2010/09/fox-picks-up-peter-tolans-council-comedy/
