Actually, while I think he has worked hard on ER, he hasn't "worked his arse off for years filming during the breaks".
His last real part in movie was Elektra which must have filmed in 2004 , and before that Spartacus, which must have been filmed in 2003. Other than that, just small parts (one apparently just as the voice of a man on a telephone) in Croatian TV shows. Not that I think he was obliged to work between seasons, but other cast members have consistently worked in the summer breaks.
It doesn't look to me as if he is in Helen, not least because he is in the middle of his ER stint. My hope is that he is doing rather more than four episodes. He may be glad of both the work and the chance to be among friends.

In the pipeline would mean there might be nothing definite to report. Not sure what the problem is here; did anyone really expect studios to be queuing up for his services? He certainly didn't. I have to respectfully disagree w/ you regarding GV's certainty. He made it quite clear in his interview that he was leaving ER to do other projects and attempt to cross over to a movie career. I agree that studios certainly aren't looking for him at this point so IMO, he would be better off professionally remaining on ER, especially since it is probably its last season and TPTB promised us very exciting and dynamic acting. I'm not talking about his intentions of pursuing a career in film but about his expectations of it; in an interview with the Radio Times a while ago he said (words to the effect that) "I'm not saying I'm going to have this great movie career. It will be tough but I'm going to give it a shot". I'll try and find the exact quote if I have the time. The writers have promised us dynamic and exciting acting on the basis of whatever they have Goran already contracted for.

I think that Goran is a wonderful actor but has some glaring things running against him. He is a gorgeous man competeing with a multitude of gorgeous men. At his point he lacks the 'character' of a Pacino a Hoffman or a Nicholson. His accent. I amnever sure how much is 'acting' and how much is real. I see him struggle for words sometimes on interview shows...and certainly in the press that has been attributed to him this summer. Crossing over to movies is definitley going to be an uphill battle for him unfortunately..IMVHO. One would think he would have wanted to stick with ER to garner the financial resources to sustain that battle....or has he enough already?

I think struggling for words in real life is a bit different to being able to deliver lines in a script, which he's never seemed to have much of a problem with. Perhaps it's not about money and security any more - perhaps he's just fed up with being part of a production line. The financial security the show has given him presumably means he's able to decide not to stay.
Anyway, as promised, here's the quote from the interview with the Radio Times for the week of 21st - 27th April this year:
We’ve heard reports that you’re leaving soon – is it true?
It’s season eight for me, so it’s time to move on. But I’ll come back next season for just a couple of episodes. I had a great job, learnt to speak English, I gave the show a lot and they gave me a lot. I don’t want to think “Oh my God, I’m going to have a great career” and think everybody [in the business] is waiting for me. It’s going to be tough out there, it’s going to be long and it may never happen. But I’m going to have fun.

It's interesting that after all this, and while Zabel says GV will be up for a bunch of episodes, Luka seems to be returning to work in the ER. I would say he's in more than 4 maybe more than 6 episodes?! Though it could be just the 6 epis he mentioned in Argentina which would mean in Argentina he still had his senses but lost it somehown down the ocean beneath his flight?!!

I have to agree w/ Larue. While I actually love Goran and his acting ability, I think there are a number of drawbacks for a movie career.
Referring to the article, that does sound like the Goran of old. Very humble and without expectation. I just hope that his lack of offers in the movie industry at this point gives his fans more screen time on ER.

Could we perhaps keep somewhere in the general region of on topic with this?

He may be glad of both the work and the chance to be among friends. There was also Ice age, practical magic and a load of other Croatian projects. It took three summers to complete DMN (Long Dark Night) its was a 12 part mini series that they also edited down to a 3 hr film, and IMO a bloody good one. I also read that Goran and Autun were writing a script together about Ante Gotovina, I think he will also help produce it like he did with DMN, so even if he wasn't and isn't working his arse off in front of the camera, he could very well be working behind it. If he is working behind it, including writing then we wouldn't know until the project came out and at the end of the day, none of us are privy to the mans schedule so I guess we will all have to wait and see what he is going to do next. Just hope that if it is in Croatian we can get a copy of it with English subtitles! debz

Seeing as he must be filming ER right now, and as there is no indication other than the blurb in the Croatian press that he is involved. I doubt he has a substantial role in the movie. It does seem the Croatian press gets quite a bit wrong about his acting projects. I wonder how/why that is?
"I see him struggle for words sometimes on interview shows...and certainly in the press that has been attributed to him this summer. "
Although those interviews were given in Croatian - why would he struggle in his native tongue?

yeah, yeah; I understood eeeverything
I didn't know there are two gorans: the old one and the new one, is there a future goran too? I don't get it, you adore the guy in the other thread and then you say he lost his senses? I'll never get women, never.

Hey, not all women.
As for why the Croatian press get stuff wrong, who knows; wishful thinking? As far as this latest rumour goes one article refers to an actor being previously associated with ithe film. He's of the same physical type as GV so it's possible that someone mistook them for one another or there was (or is) a possibility of Goran replacing him.
Either way I think it's a bit premature to be writing his film career off.

IMO, I don't think anyone has particularly written him off but, rather, is surprised and/or empathetic to the fact that there isn't much that seems to be brewing for him professionally. I personally would love to hear that he's received some offers or is involved in some professional projects, to ease the pain of losing him on ER to pursue a movie career.

Maybe he is waiting for the right project?
It's not like he has to work. He made a lot of money on ER and he still gets royalty checks for every episode of ER he was in when they play the repeats on different stations.

It's more of a riddle than a question of not liking him.
