This is a one-shot that I wrote on sever sleep deprivation and when I was listening to a song and feeling invincible. I sorta wished Abby would have been more kick-ass after Carter dumped her, so I made my own version.
She drove for miles with no destination in mind, without looking back. There was nothing to look back to. Anger burned in her veins, it coiled at the pit of her stomach like a venomous snake, begging to be released. So many promises made, all of them broken. All of them snapped like twigs in half. Oddly enough what had happened didn’t hurt like she thought it would. It made her angry but it also made her stronger, she had been and idiot she had actually thought it would all be okay. They were meant to be and things would work themselves out. She shook her head. How stupid could she be? She stopped at drug store and grabbed the bottle of what she was looking for. She threw a twenty dollar bill at the cashier and waved the bottle at her so that she could see what she was buying.
“Keep the change.” Curt and icy.
She walked out, each step she took she felt like she was conquering something. Tears threatening to bedim her vision, she blinked them back. It wasn’t that he wasn’t with her anymore that tore at her. It was that he hadn’t done face to face. He’d done it in a letter and practically told her that she wasn’t what he expected. She wasn’t good enough. He had been a false hope in her path. Curiously she didn’t hate him. She just wanted to start all over again to forget all the emotions felt, all the promises made, all the touches made. His words erased all those midnights, all those early mornings, and all those late nights. It didn’t matter anymore. His name would no longer be a regular word in her lips. She needed a change and she’d get it. No, she’d make it happen. Her emotions were raw but she didn’t show it, they were like the flesh beneath your skin. You couldn’t see her emotions but somehow they radiated off her. She park her car and all but ran inside to her dark apartment, she took the bottle out of the bag and went into the bathroom shutting the door hard behind her…
She looked up into the mirror her head slightly woozy from the smell in the bathroom. She shook her hair and smiled slightly as it revealed that it was now black. All the blonde had been rinsed out. It was a bit darker than her original color. It was almost as black as…Luka’s hair. That was an odd thought, but she shook it off. The smell from the hair dye was beginning to sting her eyes, so she walked out. She looked at the clock, 6:54. She had to be at work by 7:30. She pulled a black tank top over a pair of loose black pants. Black that was her signature color, well dark colors always made her feel better, as if they gave her more freedom. She hadn’t gotten any sleep at all, but she felt good. Hey, maybe sleep deprivation wasn’t so bad. She was going to her life together and it was going to be better than it had ever been. And she would do it all by herself, accomplish the things she wanted to accomplish by her own means. And that including borrowing and threatening. Yeah, she would pay Richard a visit. She drove swiftly and easily as though she was a pro. She walked into the ER quietly but confidently she had a goal for once. And this was one goal she wasn’t going to give up on.
She was fire and people who got too close to fire, got burned
