Abby’s insides hurt so much for laughter. Luka had missed his que on the third verse and had gone “La la la la MOUNTAAAAAIIIIIIINNS!” and all had gone terribly wrong since then as Abby could barely breathe due to laughter, they had had the whole place in hysterics.
“Well…” started Abby as they wondered out.
“I seriously never, EVER thought I would experience that. Ever. I mean. What just happened?”
Luka laughed. “No idea but I think I’ve cracked a few ribs laughing. You’re a danger to my health Lockheart!” he exclaimed.
She raised her eyebrows. “Ooooh yes and stopping me from breathing by missing your lines is any better?”
They laughed again and ended in a happy sigh. Abby’s emotions suddenly got the better of her as she threw her arms round Luka’s waist and hugged him tight. Luka looked surprised but hugged her tight back and grinned. She pulled away looking a little embarrassed.
“What was that for?” Luka asked her quizzically, still grinning like mad man.
“For making me forget about everything.”
He grinned. “Anytime m’dear!” he exclaimed. She laughed again.
“No really, I haven’t felt this… Relaxed for a while.” He smiled back at her.
“Glad to hear it… I’ll walk you back. Who knows what danger lurks in the night?”
Abby smiled. “Yeah, good point, you DO need protecting.”
He laughed. “Mmm yeah.”
It seemed like about 10 seconds before they reached Abby’s door. They stood there for a couple of moments laughing.
“I had a seriously great time tonight, although I do wish I’d caught me pushing you over on tape…”
Luka shook his head laughing “Oh be quiet you or I’ll start pushing you around again.”
She grinned. “Well. Thank you again. What would I do without you?”
“Be extremely bored and depressed?”
She nodded in mock agreement “Ooo yes of course, a life without Luka is a like a life without coffee.”
They grinned at one another. Luka desperately wanted to leap at her and grab her up, it had been a long time since he had gotten to touch her at all and the sensation had left him tingling.
Abby leaned in to kiss his cheek and Luka jumped back in shock and the grinned awkwardly.
“Um. Yeah. Sorry.” He said sheepishly.
They quickly and awkwardly pecked each other’s cheek before Abby went to the door and went in waving Luka off.
“See you at work tomorrow!” she said.
Luka nodded and grinned. “Sleep well! If you start to feel the fridge calling you just think about my wonderful dance moves” he said as he started them up again down the street. Abby laughed.
“Go home and get to bed you idiot!” she exclaimed jokingly. Luka nodded.
“Good night!” he called
“Night” said Abby closing the door behind her. She felt bad. She knew why it was, it was because she had had such an amazing time. She knew she should feel more upset about Carter, and she was, but she couldn’t help feel relieved. She loved the idea of Carter; someone she thought was so safe and secure. And what she really missed most was his friendship and now she doubted they could ever be friends the way they were before. What worried her even more was how great she felt when she was with Luka. She felt so fickle. But the whole evening he really had made her forget about everything and she had so much fun. She climbed into bed and started to drift off to sleep, God she’d need it, facing Carter tomorrow was going to be difficult.
