Hey everyone, i just had this idea. Tell me what you think and let me know if you think i should continue it?
Luka Kovach walked out of the ER after a long shift. He ran his hands through his hair and sighed before starting out on his journey home. His car was being serviced so he had to walk home and that was not what he felt like doing at all. He glanced around him at other people living their own lives. It saddened him. He felt so alone at the moment. He wasn’t in a relationship with anyone so all that faced him when he got home was an empty condo and a pile of dirty dishes. He rubbed his hands together as the wind picked up and placed them in his coat pockets. It was a dark, dreary evening and the cold wind ripped through his body. He turned a corner. He knew this road. He didn’t really have to walk down it. I mean, it would add an extra 10 minutes to his journey but he loved to anyway. The road bought back memories of when they were together. The only girl that had captured his heart since his wife, Abby. They had broken up just over a year ago but his love for her hadn’t grown weaker since the first time he realised he loved her. Staring down the road he could almost see them holding hands, kissing each other in the dark. He suddenly spotted something at the end of the road. A familiar glow coming from Abby’s building. Fear swept through his body and he ran down the street as fast as he could. His chest beginning to burn. He stopped in front of the building and looked up. Fire was everywhere. Burning deep shades of red, yellow and orange roaring through the building. His mind immediately flashed to the day he lost his family in Croatia. They day they had gotten killed in the fire. No, Luka thought I am not loosing another person I love. He grabbed a phone from his pocket and dialled 911 shouting at them for the fire brigade and ambulances. He hang up breathing deeply as people ran from the building screaming, burnt from the flames. He grabbed a handkerchief from his pocket, covered his mouth and ran inside. The darkness overwhelmed him. That familiar smoke surrounding his body, suffocating him. He began the climb of the stairs past people running down them screaming at him to turn back round but he continued running now. He reached the door. It was shut. The fire was in the room above her. The smoke even thicker and deadly here. He threw himself at the door and it flew open falling to the floor. He crouched to the floor searching for her. “Abby?” he wheezed, no reply came, “Abby? Where are you?” he whimpered. Sobbing into his hankie. He smoke was filling his lungs he could feel it. He had to find her.

Thanks for all your comments! xx
“Abby, please be ok,” he coughed trying to save breath. He crawled around the floor into her bedroom, searching and searching. He reached for the bed hoping to steady himself. Suddenly, he found a body. It was Abby. She was pale and covered in black smoke and dust. He pressed his fingers to her neck to find a pulse. Come on Abby, he thought. He found it, but it was very weak and he knew he had to get her out of there now before it was too late. He hurriedly checked her body for any signs of damage elsewhere. Other than burns nothing seemed apparent but she was unconscious. With that, he pulled her body towards him and picked her up into his arms. His chest heaved and he blacked out briefly as he tried to calm himself down. He could hear sirens now. Thank god. Thank god. He reached her door and began the steady climb back downstairs to the door. He pushed open the door wheezing. Sirens rang in his ears. He took a breath and tried to let his lungs clear. Heaving, he laid her down onto the ground as an ambulance crew approached them. He took one last breath out and collapsed by her side still clinging to her hand, which kept him awake and so strong. He must have passed out and awoke in the ambulance. He opened his eyes and looked around him. He was lying on a bed with a crewmember next to him. She smiled at him. “That was so brave of you back there. Someone said that you were passing by, saw the fire and ran in to help. That was mighty brave of you. I’m sure that girl would be very grateful.” The woman said as the ambulance stopped at the traffic lights. Oh my god, Abby. “Abby!” he screamed and burst into a coughing fit. Is she ok? Please say she’s ok. “Is that her name? Do you know her?” she asked looking concerned. Oh my god. He nodded tears forming in his eyes. She took his hand. “She’s stable now. Thanks to you. She didn’t look like she had much time left. If you hadn’t of rescued her, well, she probably wouldn’t be here right now.” She said. I have to see her. Please let her be ok.

Hope you like the update!
As soon as Luka was checked over he ran out of the room to the main desk. “Jerry, where is Abby?” Luka asked, slamming his hands on the table getting desperate. “Oh man, what happened to you? Wait you weren’t in that fire were you? What do you mean, where’s Abby? Oh my god was she in the accident too? What happened?” he asked looking as if it was so exciting and cool. He didn’t have time to swap stories. He needed to find Abby. Without saying a word he ran to the lift and pressed floor one. That was normally where new traumas came in. He ran along the corridor running in and out of each room. Suddenly, he stopped outside a room. There she was, lying in a hospital bed. She was wearing a sling on her arm, her body burnt from the fire and she seemed to be unconscious still. Why, Abby? Why? He debated on going in and decided to. He slowly opened the door, staring at her. He was used to seeing her, as a Nurse helping people in these kinds of situations but seeing her like this was too much. I can’t handle this, he thought and turned to leave. “Luka?” he heard a small voice say. Oh my god. He turned round. She was awake. Although, she had been through so much her eyes still sparkled like a thousand gems and her face was just as beautiful as it ever had been. His heart leapt and he walked over towards her blinking away his tears and swallowing all his emotions. She patted her bed and he sat gently down on it. “I don’t think you’re supposed to have guests. Weaver would have my ass if she knew I was here!” he said trying to lighten the mood. Then, she did something that took him by surprise, made his heart leap out of his chest, made him smile from ear to ear, and made him feel as though he was on cloud nine. She reached over and took his hand in hers; she put his hand to her lips and kissed his fingertips. His fingers tingled. He didn’t want her to let go. “Luka, I heard what you did for me, in fact, the Nurses and Doctors wont stop going on about it,” he looked away embarrassed, “You saved my life Luka,” she said tears falling down her cheeks. He couldn’t look at her. She reached out and touched his face. He closed his eyes, remembering what her touch could do to him. She gently turned his face towards hers. “Thank you so much. I just don’t know what to say Luka…I mean I…” she said. Suddenly, the door burst open. It was Weaver. “Luka, you know Abby’s not allowed visitors right now and you should be resting too. I mean you’ve been through an awful lot for one night and…” she suddenly stopped looking down at their hands entwined in each other, “you know what I can give you two a minute if you like?” she said. She loved those two together; they were so good for each other. When they had been together before the hospital had been so much more pleasant and upbeat. They had gotten their job done well as they worked well as a team but also joked around and generally made it a nicer place to be. They both nodded at her last comment. She smiled and closed the door. They looked back at each other. “Right, um, what I was going to say I mean what I want to say is…” she began. Suddenly the door opened again. They both signed and looked at the door. It was one of the new doctors. Haven’t you heard of knocking, they both thought? Luka was so desperate to hear what she had to say. “Sorry, um, its just they think its ok to discharge you now. Although,” she said walking towards them and sitting on the chair nearby, “I think it would be best for someone to stay with you, you know, take care of you for a while. I mean do you have family here or nearby? Your mum or dad could come and help out maybe?” she said and he felt Abby wince at the topic of her family. She stuttered not knowing how to explain her situation, she never did. “She can stay with me.” Luka said, oh my god did I just say that he thought! Abby looked at him, her mouth open. He looked away embarrassed. The woman smiled. “No, Luka, that’s, you know, its fine.” She said as she looked at him. She turned to the Doctor, “I’ll be fine on my own. I’ll be fine!” she said but Luka shook his head. “No Abby, you’re a doctor. You know how important recovery time is.” He squeezed her hand. “Abby please let me help you. Its not like you haven’t slept with me before.” He said and then realised how it sounded the woman chuckled, “I mean like you know stayed with me before. Well we’ve slept together too but…” shut up Luka he thought, shut up. “Let me start again. I just think that if you need someone to look after you it should be someone that knows you really well. Someone that knows you like eggs with ketchup and are not a morning person and you know, please Abby.” He said looking her in the eye. “Ok,” she said nodding and he smiled at her. The woman smiled and asked Abby a few more routine questions before closing the door on them. They both burst out laughing. Maybe third time round she would be able to say what she wanted without being interrupted, she thought! “Doesn’t anyone knock anymore? Oh my god Luka. ‘Its not like we haven’t slept together before’ and me staying with you! If that doesn’t start up the rumour mill about us again then I don’t know what will!” she said laughing. “Maybe this will,” he said softly. He leaned in towards her. Oh my god, Abby thought. She smiled and leaned in. There mouths now inches away. Suddenly the door burst open. “Oh for f***s sake doesn’t anyone around here no how to knock!” Luka said and they burst out laughing. “Sorry, um, you just need to sign these forms?” said the embarrassed nurse.
