You Found Me- my first fan fic

This is my first fan fiction, so i hope you all like it. It's kind of short because i'm really new to this, but hope you enjoy! I'll try to post more later.

Chapter One: The Beginning

Abby lay in bed one afternoon, while Luka was hard at work. He was in the middle of finishing the nursery for the baby, so she woke to the loud noises and the banging. “Wow, you’re sure working fast, I’m only 7 months! How’s the insomnia?” Abby asked him.

“I just kept thinking about stuff,” he replied. He sat on the sofa in the nursery and patted the seat next to him for Abby to sit down. She sat and began to talk some more.

“Luka, I hope you know, how much I love this…all of this, how much I really love…you.” Abby said. That was the first time she had ever said that to him and it seemed that he was overwhelmed by her so he paused. “I know that I’m not the easiest person to live with or anything, I complain a lot and I’m not good at expressing my feelings to you, but I really and truly love you, and I am so glad that we get to have this baby together. I would not pick another man to have this baby with.”

“Volim te, Abby,” he said to her, “I love you.” He leaned into her and they began to kiss, but then Abby felt a pain in her stomach.

“Ouch!” she shouted.

“What’s wrong?” Luka asked her.

“I think that was a contraction! But it’s way too early to have the baby! We better go see Dr. Coburn, Luka, and fast!”

They rushed to the hospital and when they got there, many of their friends surrounded them and were asking them a lot of questions. Luka shooed them away, knowing that Abby didn’t like all of the attention.
Haleh wheeled a wheelchair over to them and Abby sat down.
“Gosh Luka, this hurts! I hope the baby is okay.” Abby said to him.

“I know, everything will be fine, Abby. Everything will be fine.” He said to her not knowing what would happen next.

Chapter Two: The Long Road Ahead

Dr. Coburn came in and checked Abby. “You’re about three centimeters with the first one.”

“The first one?” Luka and Abby replied in unison.

“Yeah, they’re twins. Didn’t we mention that to you guys?”

“No!” Abby shouted in between her contractions.

“Well since you’re having twins and you are almost eight months pregnant, they should be fine. I’ll do an ultrasound to make sure their lungs are fully developed, and if they are, then everything else should go really smoothly.” Dr. Coburn replied.

“Good,” Luka and Abby replied.

“I thought I was only seven months pregnant though.” Abby said.

“Well you’re closer to eight than seven so we’ll estimate eight months.”

“I can’t believe we’re having twins! I’m sort of happy, but two babies, that will be twice the work!” Abby said.

“I know, but we can do it, together we can.” Luka told her.

Dr. Coburn came back in the room and checked the babies. She looked around at the babies’ organs. “Everything looks just fine, they are fully developed already.”

Abby was in labor for the next five hours and then Dr. Coburn came back in and checked Abby again.

“Well, there’s certainly progress, you’re about seven centimeters.” Dr. Coburn said.

“Ouch, is it possible for me to get an…ahhh…epidural?” Abby asked.

“Yes, it is, and with twins I think you should get it.” Dr. Coburn said.

“Okay, can I have it then, please?” Abby asked.

“Sure.”

Abby got her epidural and was able to rest for a while. Seeing she was so much in pain, she was glad to rest and Luka was happy that she was peaceful. Abby woke to the muttering of Luka in his sleep.

“Twins…” he was saying.

“Luka!” Abby shouted.

“Huh?” he awoke within a second.

They talked for a while and Abby was starting to get uncomfortable again, so she paged Dr. Coburn.

“Well, let me check you again,” Dr Coburn started, “oh, my, you’re ten centimeters and it’s time to get this show on the road.”

“Are you ready sweety?” Luka asked.

“I think so, I can’t believe we’re going to have a baby, well two babies.”

heres the update..

Chapter 3: The Long, Agonizing Birth

“Okay, here she comes,” said Dr. Coburn with a slight smile. “almost there Abby.”

“You’re doing great, Abby.” Luka said to her.

“And she’s out!” the little baby girl began to whimper and then to cry very loudly. “Her lungs are definitely developed now aren’t they?” Dr. Coburn handed her over and they examined the little girl.

“Oh, Abby, she’s beautiful, just like you.”

“Thanks Luka. But, I hope she looks like you.”

“Have we decided on a name yet?”

“Well,” Luka began, “we decided that if it was a girl we would name her Shelly Diana.”

“That’s a lovely name.”

“She’s five pounds exactly.” said one of the nurses.

“Okay Abby, get ready for the next one.”

“I’m so tired.”

“You can do it honey.”

“Okay.”

Abby began to push the baby out, when all of a sudden Dr. Coburn started to look funny and Luka questioned her.

“Is everything alright?”

“Yeah, but the baby is breech, so Abby’s gonna have to push twice as hard.”

“Oh, Luka, I can’t! I’m so tired.”

“You can do it honey. You’re strong.”

Abby started to push again, and she pushed extra hard. The baby began to come out, butt first.

“Okay, here it comes,” Dr. Coburn said, “and he’s out! It’s a boy!” The happiness began to shrivel because the tiny baby was not crying. “Come on baby.”

“Luka!! What’s wrong with him?”

“I’m sure he’ll be fine.”

Dr. Coburn rushed they baby over to the incubator and put a mask over his mouth. He began to whimper and then dry a little. However, this baby was very small.

“Three pounds, one ounce.” the nurse said.

Abby began to cry. Luka went over to her and consoled her. “He’ll be fine, Abby, jut fine. He’s strong too.”

After Abby calmed down a bit, Dr. Coburn asked, “Do we have a name for him, too?”

“If it was a boy,” Abby began, “we were going to name him Joshua Gabriel.”

Luka smiled. “That is another lovely name.” Dr, Coburn replied. “Well, we have to take them up to the NICU, since they wwere born early and Joshua needs a little more time to develop his lungs. Shelly, should be able to come out of the NICU in about four days. We just want to observe her, other than that you two have healthy babies. But before we bring them up, you guys can spend some time with them and hold them for a while.”

“Thank you.” Luka and Abby said together. One nurse placed Shelly into Luka’s arms and Joshua into Abby’s. Abby started to cry again. Joshua had a mask over his mouth to help him breathe and they had an IV going. Luka held her close and whispered to her in Croatian. She looked up at him and kissed him.


After a while the nurse brought Abby into the recovery room and Luka went with them. Abby fell asleep soon after they got up there and suddenly, Dr. Coburn came running into the room and said, “Abby, Luka there may be something wrong with Joshua.

soory..i wont be able to update until monday, seeing that tomorrow is father's day and i want to spend time with my dad. i would update today too, but its kind of late and i should get things prepared for my dad.

Chapter 4: My Cries of Pain and then Joy

Abby began to cry and Luka went to her and comforted her. Luka asked her, “What’s wrong with Josh?”

Dr. Coburn began, “He stopped breathing and we had to put a tube in, but then the tube wasn;t working well so we put in a chest tube.”

“What!” Abby exclaimed. “He’s sp young and so tiny, this is all my fault.”

“No it’s not your fault,” Luka said. “He’s strong, he’ll be fine.”

Luka pushed Abby up to the NICU to visit Shelly and Joshua. When they got into the room with their two babies, they came to a stop. They saw little Joshua hooked up to three different machines and he had an IV going. Shelly, on the other hand was doing pretty well, all she needed was an IV.

“I guess she got all of the nutrients, huh Luka?” Abby said to him.

“Yup, I guess so.” He said.

Andrea, one of the head nurses was watching the twins day in and day out. She went up to Abby and asked her, “Do you want to hold her?”

“Yes, can I please?”

“Of course you can.” Andrea Replied.

Abby got out of the wheelchairl and Luka helped her into the rocking chair, since she was still very sore. Once she was in the rocking chair Andrea gave Shelly to Abby. She smiled as she handed her over. “She’s gorgeous,” Andrea said to Abby and Luka, “She looks like a combination between the two of you.” Andrea left and gave Abby and Luka some time alone with their babies.

Abby began to cry again. Her hormones were acting up, so she had an excuse to cry, and then Luka started to cry. “She is beautiful, Abby, and I want her to look just like you, because you’re beautiful.” Luka said to her.

“Thanks, Luka, but I hope she has your beautiful eyes. I can’t believe we’re parents. It seemed just like yesterday that we were regular people just messing around, and now look at us, we’re parents. It’s so amazing, I can’t believe it.” Abby handed Shelly over to Luka, so he could hold his sweet little baby girl. Abby got up slowly and walked over to Joshua’s incubator. She put her hand up to the plastic and began to cry again. Luka rushed by her side and rubbed her back. He wrapped one of his hands around her waist and kept the other holding Shelly.

“It will be alright Abby, he’s strong just like you.” Luka said.

“He looks just like you, Luka. I want him to look exactly like you. Your dark features, everything, and I hope he turns out as good a man as you.” Abby said to him. “I love you Luka, I really do.”

“I love you too, Abby, with my whole heart.” Luka said.

They stayed in the NICU for about an hour and then Abby said, yawning, “I’m tired Luka, can we go back downstairs for a while?”

“Of course we can.” He said. Abby gave Shelly a kiss on the head before they left and Luka did the same. Then she went over to Joshua and touched the plastic covering, and Luka whispered him something in Croatian. He helped her get into the wheelchair and then they both said, “I love you, Shelly, Joshua.” Then they left.

Abby slept for about three hours and Luka went out to get flowers. He thought that this was the perfect time to give Abby his present. He did not think that she would know that he was going to propose to her. He had bought the ring a couple of months ago, just waiting for the perfect time to ask her. The ring was beautiful, it was a princess cut diamond, almost two carats and was on a white gold band. He picked up the flowers and went back into her room, good, she was still asleep.

Soon enough though Abby woke up, and Luka looked at her, and handed her the flowers. “Thank you,” he said, “for being so good to me, and being so strong. You were great in the delivery room.”

“Thanks, Luka.” She said.
Luka pulled up a chair next to Abby’s bed and looked at her, he gazed deep into her eyes. “For the longest time, I’ve been lost Abby, in a world that didn’t even exist. You found me and brought me back to reality. I feel that we connect somehow. You know me better than I know myself. I love you, Abby, and there isn’t a better person in the whole entire world that is better for me than you, and I don’t think that there is a better man for you either” he got down on one knee and, she gasped, in shock and began to cry again, this time happy tears. He reached deep down into his pocket and pulled out the tiny velvet box. He opened it and continued, “Abby, will you marry me?”

Abby looked so shocked and was starting to cry more and more. “Yes, Luka, yes, I will marry you. I love you so much, and you’re right, there isn’t anyone better for me.” She leaned in to kiss her but he pulled away.

“Wait,” he said, “you forgot the ring.” He slid the ring onto her finger and then he leaned in and kissed her. When he pulled away he could see the tears rolling down her face. He wiped them away with his thumb and then said, “Thank you Abby, you just made me the luckiest man in the world.”
