Rewatching season 6 (god bless TNT reruns) I noticed something odd. It's the first mention Luka makes of the death of his family in Croatia, and there's a mojor discrepancy. He says (and I quote):
Luka: "My wife and kids were taken."
Weaver: "In the war?"
Luka: "Yeah. And then killed."
- From season 6, "Family Matters"
So...what? In the storyline he discussed with the bishop in s07, his family was killed in a bombing while at home in the apartment, while he was out...TPTB really SUCK at being consistent.

Since this was at the beginning of Luka's family development, they might have wanted to go with that story that they were taken and killed, but then the issue of faith and feeling guilty wouldn't have been as strong. Because one of Luka's biggest problems was how he couldn't give up his daughter to save his wife.

TPTB can hardly keep things consistant from episode to episode we can't expect them to do it from season to season, that would be too much to ask *insert rolling eyes here*

Actually I think I read somewhere that Goran Visnjic had an objection to the way his family's demise was portrayed. As he was new to the show at the first mention He didn't feel that he had enough pull to object to the whole 'taken and killed' bit. Anyone else remember where that story was???

Quoting... [glow=red,2,300]Abbie[/glow]"HAHA AND he also says in City of Mercy... "When Jasna and the kids died..." Jasna was his daughters name! "I noticed that too in the spoilers and I wrote a lot of letters (sent them by fax to John Wells Production Company, NBC and by post-mail to ER) and mails (NBC) warning TPTB about the mistake, I remember how badly I wanted to correct it, then I realized I was wasting my time, if they were already in the spoilers was because the scenes were shot and the chances of me warning them were one in a million, so I gave up and witness the mistake in my screen. **Viviana**

HAHA AND he also says in City of Mercy... "When Jasna and the kids died..." Jasna was his daughters name! Are you sure?because in italian is:"My wife and my children" Anyway in "Family Matters" there is a comparison with the Luka's family and his patietns...so for the storyline of this episodie ER had to say that his family was killed. But in an other episodie(I don't remembar what)in the same series(s06)he tells to Carol all his family's accident, the same that he'll tell to the bishop in s07....... So....We can't know....

I'd like to add from the last ep 1) Luka saying he hadn't been back to Croatia in 10 years (when pretty sure he went back the Christmas after him and Abby broke up- something about could he not send a postcard from Croatia!) 2) Being with his father when he died

I believe IMO, that he told that because he wanted to get this job. That he is familiar with dying people...I know it was a lie, but he probably wants this job very much. You can see, that he is still mad he wasn't there with his dad in his last moments... in his tone of voice, the way he looks on people... A bit cynical portrait of LUKA...I hope it does make sense to anyone
