There is still quite a bit of speculation on which events occur in either this episode or the season premiere, entitled "Bloodline." However, as of now, we do know the title. My guess is that considering what we know about Pratt becoming an Attending in a few weeks, this title is referring to his graduation from residency. It could also refer to the Lubylet!Joe "graduating" off his ventilator. Feel free to elaborate, kiddies. ETA: After a brief visit to the ER Exchange, I thought I'd add this little snippet courtesy of Norther Dancer1. It definitely made me smile. I'm rooting for him, too.

Me too... although there is a side of me that still wishes it would be a girl. I don't know... I think they could make better stories out of it.

I agree with you. The whole Maggie/Abby relationship preying on Abby's mind would make a great background storyline. And i think Luka interactions would be better with a girl.

From Storm at TEEX: Graduation Day Weaver instructs Pratt on the attending role, noting that he has to figure out how to educate the residents without making the feel like crap. Later, Pratt gives instructions to some EMT’s, saying they cannot put in an "EJ" to an overdose patient. At the emergency site, Gates tells the other EMTs that he has permission from the ER to do the procedure. The other EMTs are surprised he got permission.
Meanwhile, it’s been a week and baby Joe is still intubated. Maggie is visiting, knitting while she sits next to the baby. The baby may have a heart murmur. Later, Luka stops in between patients in the ER; Maggie has been reading the baby stories; Abby is pacing. Much later, Abby and Luka talk. I think he must have talked marriage, but Abby must have declined, saying she doesn’t want to mess things up because they are really working; Luka says he’ll take love, and save marriage for later. Back in the NICU, however, after having the tube taken out, the baby takes a turn for the worse, and Maggie must demand that the NICU resident be called to the case. As Abby and Luka come into the NICU, Maggie tells them the tube is being put back in.

Does Anyone know if it's true Maura hates kids? They're actually saying this at ER Forums. If it's true than I guess the baby is a goner!

Ignore those trolls at the ER Forums as they are seriously rabid Abby haters there... Maura never said she doesn't like kids... She said in a interview that she just not a maternal type... at the end of the day it isn't compulsory to have children if you are a woman...

even if she did, which she probably doesn't, she's an actress, and a great one at that, so she could pull anything off... hell i had never even imagined Abby to be the motherly type, but seriously, after all that's happened, i wouldn't want a thing to change...
I really hope baby Joe gets better and I think he will because TPTB is so not gonna kill another baby, Luka's baby no less... he's suffered enough...
I really think it's gonna be one hell of a season.. or at least one hell of a season start anyways..

I also don't believe baby Luby is going to have a tragic ending. 1st it'd be too much like Carter-Kem story and I'm sure they wouldn't repeat a story so quick 2nd I don't believe they'd kill Kovac's third child! but that Maura hated kids had caught me off guard. I also always heard that she wasn't the mothering type, but reading this so close to the S13 spoilers ; I was like "What?"

I just think the show's writers want to keep people on the edge of the seat so it can keep the show interesting...

I'm one of the many (and I do mean many) people who wanted this child desperately to be a girl. I even know someone is forming a petition for people to sign to get them to change the sex. Absolutely NONE of the current cast members have daughters. All boys. A matter of fact...
Only people to have girls: Doug/Carol Mark/Elizabeth
People who had/have boys: Doug (once mentioned) Benton Chen (gave up for adoption) Susan Kerry Sam Carter (died)
Is it just me or are baby girls just not aloud in this ER?

Susan's sister gave birth to a baby girl in Season 1... Little Susie was in Season 2 most of the time when Susan was lefting "holding the baby"

Well I'm among the minority who was sure it was going to be a boy. It seemed so logical for this baby to be a girl, that it had to be a boy For me tptb on ER never made any logical decision about the gender of any baby born in that show. I think they just flip a coin and decide that way. What made me think it would be a boy is that Luka has basically more discussed his son Marko (not that he has said much) than his daughter. The whole story in CC made me think, okay this is going to be a boy again. Add that usually baby boys are more fragile than baby girls and that most people expected the baby to be a girl, it just seemed logical that it was a boy. Not that they can't change their mind yet. I mean spoilers change as those are really very early drafts of an episode.

Oh I kinda figured it would be a boy too simply because everyone expected it to be a girl. Well, that and I wanted it to be a girl.
I can live with a boy. I just think it's unfair that noone has a daughter currently on the show. Plus I wanted to see Luka with a little girl soooo bad. Seriously, how cute would that be? So I still hold out hope that they will change their minds. (No doubt I'll be disappointed.)
The one thing they absolutely must change is the name. Joe??? Not that there's anything wrong with that name, but Joe Kovac sounds funny to me. I was hoping for something a bit more Croatian.
I think everyone can agree that the most important thing is that this baby survives, boy or girl. I want Luka and Abby to be happy, and I'm sure their child will be absolutely beautiful.

Joe is probably not going to be the name of the baby. Everything indicates that it's just the "working" name used by the writers. The baby probably doesn't have a name yet. Remember how long it took Benton to give a name to his son Reese... I can see Abby not wanting to jinx anything.
