Chapter 17
I didn't know what to say. I was hanging out with John and having a good time too. But I had forgotten about Luka and how this was our trip, our last trip together. I was getting ready to say something when the doorbell rang. I opened the door to a surprise.
"Sam... Susan... Greg... Morris? What are you guys doing here?" I asked obviously confused.
"We're here to spend our last summer with two of our best friends." Sam said smiling.
"But... you said-."
"I know what I said and I was able to get out of what I had to do." she said brushing her long blond hair out of her face.
"Aren't you happy to see us?" Susan asked.
"Of course I am... it's just I was on my way to meet someone." I said smiling.
"Is it a guy?" Sam asked eagerly.
"I'll tell you later... first let me show you your rooms." I said walking upstairs with Susan and Sam trailing behind.
Greg and Morris didn't follow. Instead they stayed downstairs and talked with Luka.
"Whats up with you and Abs?" Morris asked.
"Nothing." Luka walked upstairs to his room. Greg and Morris followed.
Me and Sam decided to share a room. Susan was sharing my parents old room with Greg her boyfriend of three years. Susan quickly unpacked and came back over to my room. I was just about to tell them about John when Luka walked in.
"We need to talk... meet on the patio later tonight." he whispered in my ear and left.
"What was that about?" Sam asked.
"Nothing."
"So who is this mystery guy?" Susan asked eagerly.
"His name is John Carter and he lives next door. He's great you guys. He's so cute, so funny, and so sweet. Did I mention he's so cute? He has this smile... I mean his smile is just so-."
"Luka." Sam said with a giggle.
"Not quite, but close. He's great you guys and I really like him." I said with a smile.
"How'd you meet?" Sam asked.
"He and his sister came over our second day here. She asked if we wanted to hangout and I said yeah. But what she meant was, I'll hangout with Luka, you hangout with my twin brother."
"They're twins!" Sam and Susan shouted shocked.
"Yeah, but have totally different personalities."
"So that's why you and Luka aren't together... they got in the way." Susan said.
"What do you mean together?" Sam elbowed Susan in the arm.
"She doesn't mean together together, but close. We could feel the tension as soon as we walked in." she said. I was about to tell them about our fight and how strange Luka was acting when my phone rang.
"Hello... oh hey John... I can't come over today... the rest of my friends are here." I said answering the phone.
"Invite him over." Sam whispered.
"Uh huh... no." I said covering the mouth of the phone.
"Do it... invite him." Susan said and she and Sam began chanting do it.
"Fine... do you wanna come over here and meet them?" I asked.
"Great see you in a few." I hung up the phone and looked at Sam and Susan, but they just smiled.
With a few minute there was a knock at the door. I ran down the stairs yelling I'll get it, but it was too late by the time I got down there Luka was opening the door. And there in the doorway stood John. Luka said hey and walked away.
He noticed me on the steps, so he walked over and whispered "Don't forget the patio." I shook my head then went to the door and hugged John. Susan and Sam came down and as soon as they saw us they smiled two big grins. I knew I was in for a long night.
