and doesn't Abbys new hair colour bring back memories of season 12? ^ it does! I, too, think that this was the best episode this season. Not just simply because it was all Luby[but it sure helped A LOT ] but because it felt like it was something happening for the first time this season {Not that I like the Sam/Gates scene!} I shouldn't really keep watching now pre-the-episodes-airing but I probably will after this episode

Eventualy i have seen the episode. I was so mad that i wouldnt work , but then Rachel camre to my rescue and sorted it all out! (thanks by the way). Anyway i thought it was such a good episode, with all the memories of happy Luby . And then at the end, they were together again, at last. I dont know about this new doctor, he seemed kind of snooby, but i was like go Pratt when he gave him the whole lecture on how its a teaching hospital that actualy teaches people! I thought i was halairous when Morris was getting electricuted, and then after he was all happy that it had lasted for more than two minutes and that noone had ever done that before. But when the Sam and Gates scene came i was shouting at the screen! It was horrible!!1 ;D ;D ;D

Just been brought to my attention on another board, Luka came back from Croatia to visit Abby in Rehab so why couldn't he have come back to visit her whilst he was taking care of his father? he had family out there, so his father wouldn't have been alone? (aside from the fact the Goran was only contracted to 6 epiodes!!)

If that came to your attention after reading another board, perhaps you should go back there and read the answers. They were plenty, honestly.

(aside from the fact the Goran was only contracted to 6 epiodes!!) I think he didn't come back cause he didn't know that Abby needed him that much... He thought she was ok... When she's in rehab it's different... She needs help and it would be unrealistic that he didn't come to check on her and see how she was doing...

Just been brought to my attention on another board, Luka came back from Croatia to visit Abby in Rehab so why couldn't he have come back to visit her whilst he was taking care of his father? Because it's an over dramatic TV show that the only thing it has left to gain more viewers is to make it even more dramatic and questionable? We can make hundreds of suppositions but at the end, we'll have no answer because TPTB chose not to say more than we've watched. But I second Marion's opinion and add, that his father is already dead by now. Nothing is making him to stay in Croatia.

I'm thinking that perhaps once there, Luka found himself being depended on the most because of his medical background, and knowing how caring he is, he no doubt immersed himself into getting the best care possible for his father, not to mention trying to get the house set up for his father's return home. Time flies when you're consumed by something, and he had every faith that Abby was fine and would be able to get along without him, though at the time neither had any idea it would be that long an absence.
Part of enjoying a good novel or a good tv show or movie is being able to believe the storyline and the events therein, even if it makes little or no sense or logic were it happening in 'real life' If it were real life, would Luka have stayed absent for 6 months without a visit or without having his wife and son come to join him in his home country if he couldn't get away? I'm thinking no.
But, in the world of ER, it's completely believable to me that Luka would let that much time slip by when helping his father without coming home to Chicago, and would come to see Abby after 2 weeks in Rehab.... there's a hell of a difference between leaving behind a wife who is whole and strong, and leaving one who is in treatment for addiction...
Of course there's always overthinking things... can ruin the best of shows or movies or books or ER episodes...

I hope i haven't offended you with the question? i just thought it was an interesting discussion to bring up. I do agree with what you're all saying, he wasn't to know Abby wasn't copying and looking after a sick Father, i can only imagine is very demanding. But don't shot me for saying this!! i still find it hard to believe in his long absence he couldn't have come back for a few days. Even before this episode i thought this. He did have the support of his family and would only be a phoen call away. But reading San's post i think you've really hit the nail on the head. This is a TV show not 'real life'.....

Christabelle;
I was trying to say that sometimes it's more enjoyable to just sit back and watch the show or movie or read the book and accept what happens, rather than pick at the details...
It was shown more than once that Luka had no idea Abby was falling apart, and he was spending the last time he would ever get with his father... it's not that far-fetched he wouldn't leave his father.
It's also plausible he would come see Abby when he no longer had his father to worry about, and with her 'ailing', especially with his marriage in crisis.

I had a problem with that too. Then I decided to believe that he planned to stay there for just a few weeks, then postponed for other few weeks again and again and again till it was 6 months. That explain why she never went to Croatia with Joe - Luka was coming back soon, except he wasn´t. This thought calms me.
I was watching the epi again (luka/abby parts), and I think that if Abby had said in rehab all he wanted to know, he would go straight to see a lawyer. Poor girl would get another letter, this one saying "I´m talking to my lawyer, got start a new life" - just like the song, ya know "take a letter maria"?

Am the same with any other program. Of course it's weird that Luka didn't take few days to see his wife and baby while he was in Croatia. But I think the first reason is Goran's contract! they have him only for 6 or 8 episode... And as so many people said it, ER is a drama ! TPTB need to have Abby falling of the wagon, they decide the storylines, even if sometimes its a little unbelievable... as San said, in ER this kind of situation is totally believable ! I was just thinking in another thing, they still have not gone in Honeymoon!! it's been almost a year now...Do you think that could be their exit arc, whenever it is, Luka Abby and Joe walking into the sunset in Hawaï... I know I'm dreaming

And poor guy would have another case of PTSD and come to think again that no one really loved him and that as soon as he was gone, she forgot about him. Like Luka said - how much is he supposed to take?! He only got over her flirting with Carter, her mother, her just friends speech, her "I'm not sure I want to keep the baby" - and decided he would give up what he wanted the most - a child of his own - just to be with her. That says a lot about how much he really loves her. Not to mention her commitment issues looong after Joe was born. So, yeah, Luka had enough, Abby is finally starting to take some responsability and he was right on with everything he said to her at rehab.
As for the visiting - yes, he only was expected to stay there a few weeks. While she was expected to stay sober and not cheat on him.
