Here ya go guys!! The next chapter!! Enjoy!! Chapter 49
Watching him go with a smile on her face, Abby suddenly felt a hand on her shoulder and turned to see Susan standing behind her with a knowing smirk.
"So, you and Kovac going to finally get together or what?" The blond-haired woman had met John in college, but had fit in with their group of friends almost immediately when he had introduced her to everyone.
Abby thought about denying it, but she knew the smile on her face would just give her away, so she nodded. "I think so."
"It's about damn time," she grinned. "You guys need to have some babies so our kids have friends to play with!"
Laughing, Abby quickly pushed loving thoughts of herself pregnant with Luka's children out of her mind. "One step at a time, Susan!"
"Seriously, though, that's great, Abby," Susan warmly squeezed her hand. "We've all always known you two were perfect for each other. You deserve to be happy, and I know Luka will take good care of you. I'm happy for you."
Abby hugged the woman tightly before turning back around and scanning the crowd for Luka.
Luka, meanwhile, had gotten stuck in the kitchen, listening with a thinly veiled annoyance as John went on and on about his four kids, even going so far as to pull out their latest pictures, insisting Luka comment on each one.
Abby finally found Luka and just as she was about to walk up to him, she got cornered by two of her old high school friends. The fact that one was Sydney, made it nearly impossible to escape without hearing a 45 minute tale of her divorce woes and an almost word-for-word re-cap of her latest therapy session.
Luka had finally escaped John, only to find himself throw into the middle of a heated argument about college football and whose defence was truly the best in the league.
Susan's blaring declaration of "One minute to midnight, everybody!" and the ensuing stampede of bodies toward the TV, further hampered Abby's search for Luka. Anxiously, she pushed her way past the throng of bodies and desperately searched for the object of her desire.
The thirty second countdown to midnight began, and Abby began to feel sadness rising from the pit of her stomach, as she frantically searched for Luka, still unable to locate him.
"Twenty seconds!" She heard a voice cry out from behind her, but she didn't pay any attention.
Finally giving up hope as the 10-second countdown began, Abby sighed and faced the area where the large group had assembled to watch the Times Square celebration on TV, joining half heartedly in their countdown.
"Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two-"
Before Abby got the chance to utter the final digit, she felt her body being spun around in a pair of strong arms. She had just a split second to recognize her captor as none other than Luka himself, before his lips came crashing down on hers.
It only took Abby a second to respond to his kiss. She had wanted this for a long time, perhaps, longer than she had cared to admit to herself. Returning his kiss with all the pent up passion she had, her arms automatically went up and around his neck.
Luka felt as if he were dreaming as he encircled the waist of the woman in front of him, pulling her body against his. He tried not to moan as she pressed herself even further up against him, her breasts rubbing against the fabric of his dress shirt.
Abby felt as if she couldn't get enough of the kiss. Over and over their tongues tangled, each one fighting for something that the other was giving quite willingly. She let out a soft moan as she felt Luka's hands slip off her waist and down onto her bottom, squeezing gently and pulling her lower body into his.
When Abby began to slowly grind her lower body against his, Luka realized they needed to move their venture elsewhere...quickly.
Breaking their kiss, he saw disappointment flash through her eyes. "Abby, do you wanna-"
"Yes," she panted out before he could even finish, grabbing his hand and leading him quickly toward the doorway.
All greetings of "Happy New Year!" were ignored as the couple bolted out the door and nearly ran to Luka's truck.
