These rules have NOT changed. They're Maggie's rules, and everyone knows them and abides by them, so we are sticking with them.
----------------------------------------------------------------
1. please do not include spoilers in your fanfic, unless you post a warning IN THE TITLE of your fic.
example: my new fanfic (spoilers included)
spoilers include ANYTHING from season fourteen that has not been aired yet. A lot of people like to be surprised so just be considerate. I'm not going to go through every line of every fanfic to scrutinize, so please just be aware and if you include spoilers, post that warning. If your fanfic is already started and you decide to include a spoiler, POST THE WARNING AT THE BEGINNING OF THAT CHAPTER.
2. Any explicit chapters must include a warning.
there are young readers on here, so if you decide to include a sex scene chapter, please post a warning at the beginning of the chapter.
3. If you leave feedback; constructive criticism is one thing, but please don't tell someone their fic sucks. it's just not right.
4. after some consideration, I don't think it's appropriate to have any Maura/Goran fictions. they are real people and we shouldn't invade their privacy. if you wish to write those stories, you'll have to find another forum.
5. and finally...HAVE A FABULOUS TIME! fanfics are absolutely thrilling to me, and i hope you find them to be the same. enjoy!
Rules of Dispute Among Fanfic Authors/Readers:
1. Criticism is always welcome, so long as it's constructive. Remember that authors and readers are all different ages, and many are writing in a language that is foreign (I can barely form a sentence in another language, let alone an entire story). No one here is a professional fanfic author. We can all learn, and we can all enjoy.
2. This is a Luby fanfic board. If you don't like Luby, keep it to yourself. Don't review a fic by saying Luka and Abby shouldn't be together, etc. It's simple common sense. Look at the pretty banner up top - Luby!
Rules of sexual/adult content
1. use your discretion. this goes to readers and to writers. if you are a younger reader and there is a warning posted, be responsible enough to know whether or not you should continue. if you are a writer, use your good judgment as well as these rules. we are a community, and need to respect one another.
2. keep it tasteful. this isn't a porn fiction site, and shouldn't have any materials that would constitute pornography. we all know what "too far" is. leave some of it to the imagination and don't be overly explicit if it's not necessary to the story. overly explicit would include graphic descriptions relating to body parts, positions, etc. again, use your discretion.
3. always post a warning. if there is sex involved, there should be a warning in large letters at the beginning of the chapter. if there is bad language, there should be a warning as well. same for violence, spoilers, and anything else that would be deemed "inappropriate".
4. try to limit use of bad language. there are some things we know our characters would say, and some things we know they wouldn't. there are also things that are not appropriate to use in polite company that we should try to avoid if possible.
5. words that I don't EVER want to see on the board (i have to post them to clarify, and apologize in advance):
- "f**k"
- ANY name for a sexual part that is considered a swear. you all know what I'm referring to...this includes "cock", "tits", "pussy", and a few others that I'm not even comfortable writing here.
- racial or ethnic slurs or terms that are degrading to women. I will allow "slut" if it is used in context and only when necessary.
I hope no one is going to be immature about this. yes, sometimes I giggle at these terms, but I'm being very serious right now.
6. I reserve the right to use my own judgment to delete or modify something i find offensive or that violates these rules. I will always PM the writer if I do so. I also reserve the right to add to these rules if it becomes necessary.
thanks, and I hope you all will take this seriously.
