I have had some time to think about this (and the Bucks are up against Michigan 24/14 at half time, so I have a few minutes...)But, it has been speculated by a certain fan of Carter 4 ever who shall remain nameless at TEE that there is no closeness or bond b/t Luby. She sites the fact of the hand holding with enough room to put another adult in. However, as convuluted as she seems to see things-as if Carter was even a factor in this relationship-this poster points out something that caught my eye.
Taking Luka's history of marrying very young and presumably to a woman who was used to galant (sp?) treatment, he would be inclined to almost "smother" the woman in his life.
Some points to ponder are these:
During Luby v. 1, nearly everytime we see them walking he has his arm around her shoulder holding her close. There are exceptions, yes, but look closely especially during the Bishop episode.
During the Sam fiasco, the same can be said. He smothers her in this way and is quick to try and form an instant family. He pushes all his feelings down so he can construct the "perfect" ready made family. It blows up in his face.
Now, in both these instances he was trying to wrap a bow on a pretty package of how a woman wants to be treated. Sam and Abby have had hard knock lives and have never relied on a man to protect them. His insistance of "taking care of them" didn't fly.
This brings us to Luby v. 2.
Firstly, yeah, they do it out of an emotional connection related to a $hitty day at work. So what. I'd do him for lesser reasons... ;D
Anyway.....
In AACE, Abby points out how well the last few weeks have gone. How much she has laughed and how good she has felt. All points she HAS NEVER made with anyone including Carter. She herself said she doesn't have follow through skills.
Luka tells her its her decision about the baby. And, that he still wants to be with her regardless. This shows growth and IMO, the fact that he loves Abby despite any problems they have-including the termination of a baby he so desperately wanted. Remeber how he melted down when Sam thought she might be pregnant? This is hugely different. Luka isn't trying to force Abby into a pretty mold of a family. I think he is finally learning.
Okay, this brings me to the handholding debate. I believe what we are seeing is intimacy at its finest. Ripping your clothes off passion is great-but it doesn't make for long lasting loving relationships. We have seen them twice now with hands held. I don't think that at this point we need to see them in bed in order to believe they are in love. The small details are more telling. It is a connection to the other person. The fact that Abby didn't pull away is a key moment. It tells us that she has put aside her irritation with him.
Well, that is my long winded explanation of why I think they are in it for the long haul.
Okay, Michigan just scored and then intercepted , so I have to go back to the party and finish watching the game.
GO BUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
