Would have LOVED to have been able to figure out the subway line. That is my next goal..... Oh...and by the way, my blog post about the trip is done. Here is the link: ryterrytes.blogspot.com/But it's also linked in google's blog list under Maura Tierney. Cool! I just read your blog & viewed the slideshow, and it seems like you had a lot of fun !! I wish I had the time & money to go see the show, but I can't because of school XD

I discussed it with someone far smarter than I who had seen it... her view was that it was to prove how far they would go to achieve what they thought was 'normal'. It all came down to a traditional family unit, Laurel as the mother (a role she had wanted for so long), Hal as the father and Gordon as the child. Laurel had very unhealthy ways to cope, mainly acting as though things didn't happen and covering up her true feelings.

I thought about it being something to that extent as well, but I couldn't get over that Hal would think of Gordon as a son after being his boyfriend. That just weirded me out too much. So I ended up settling with the conclusion that the entire play was the subject of Gordon's book and an "alternate universe." Though that's probably wrong, it was the only thing I could think of that didn't gross me out.

Though that's probably wrong, it was the only thing I could think of that didn't gross me out. See, the way I view Hal is that he's the type of guy who is quite happy to ride another person's coat tails for as long as it's beneficial for him. Adopting the traditional family unit got him what he needed - food, shelter and love. He was with Gordon from a purely physical standpoint, IMHO. Gordon was nothing more than a boytoy he kept around for his amusement. As for Gordon, it suited him quite well, too. He had a loving 'mother' and 'father', a home and food. It goes beyond unconventional, and it makes a strong statement about people in general.

Well, I had some real issues with the 'boy toy' becoming the 'son' and Laurel's acceptance of that. Boy Toy was a murderer after all...and it was blown off by Hal...and a drug addict, which was basicly ignored by all. A nineteen year old kid acting like a seven year old through out was wierd. 'Riding on the coat tails....' that's an interesting thought. Hmmm.

Thanks Fe for all the hard work you had making this happen. I still can´t believe Maura saw my picture - and more - read something I wrote to her Now I´m part of a scrapbook to the only 2 idols I ever had: Maura Tierney and Steffi Graf. Amazing.

What a wonderful experience! And what wonderful memories you will have for the rest of your life. Your pics are just great and I'm so happy that you shared them with us. You both looked so great, and it seems like Maura was truly into the scrapbook you had made for her.
