I just got this off a television web site. Good idea or not???
NEW YORK -- Although it's hardly at the heights it once was, NBC's "ER" is still a pretty strong performer in the Nielsens. Including repeats, it's averaging about 12 million viewers a year.
Those numbers would be higher if you took out the repeats -- which is exactly what NBC plans to do next season.
The long-running hospital drama will go rerun-free for its 13th season. It will run for 13 episodes in the fall, leading to a cliffhanger, then return to finish out the season in April 2007. In between, the network will give the highly visible 10 p.m. Thursday spot "The Black Donnellys," a new drama created by Oscar-winning "Crash" writer-director Paul Haggis and the film's co-writer, Bobby Moresco.

I like the no repeat part I just don't like that we have to wait for it to come back until April.

maybe us Brits will get them all together. Or we'll be waiting will the summer for the last lot
As long as the cliffhanger isn't that Joe dies or Carter return & Abby goes back to him. Maybe its when Laura leaves the show

hmmm i don't know what I think about this? Yah I LOVE the idea of 13 straigh episodes... but that long break will kill me... Even this season where we went from the end of march til the end of April with no new ER episodes, at least I had the re-runs to tie me over...i guess I take what they give us though

Honestly? I don't like it. I enjoy watching the repeats. It's better for me than no ER at all. Gives me my weekly dose of Goran Visnjic.
On the plus side, it will be nice to have new episode after new episode.

I like the way we have it in the UK (On freeview/satelite) no repeats no breaks just straight through. Terrestrial viewers have a break for bankhols etc However, it does make for a (fairly) shor viewing time 22 weeks.
If I was in the US i would preferr to have repeats rather than a big gap. Why cant they just put them on back to back each week like we do here, why have the gaps/repeats?

I'm kinda split... I mean I like the idea of New episode after New episode. Also I never minded the repeats, but I guess whatever, TPTB are just trying to get ratings up... I hope it works!! I'm not looking forward to the LOOOOONG wait after Christmas! Especially if it's going to be yet another cliffy!!  |

She's one of my favs...that'll be awful  I hope the cliffhanger has nothing to do with Luby...I've had enough with the screenwritters making them suffer & all that stuff...Hope it has something to do with Neela...and Ray.... |
