I won't say "good" though I don't know how to erase those horrible images from my head I think it was good though. As a piece of television and as a vehicle to convey exactly how sordid and destructive the whole thing was it worked.

Yeah of course, I mean Maura's performance was more than good but you know what I mean for the entire meaning of the episode

I discussed in a eariler post, how i thought it was strange that nobody knew about Abbys drinking problem, that surely Neela may have known but i think i could have been wrong. Am watching season 9 at the moment and have just seen the episode, 'A walk like a man'. Where Carter accidently tells Susan about her drinking problem and she had no idea, saying something like, 'I knew she didn't drink alot but i never knew it was because of that'. Also you find in this episode, that Abby tell Susan that its something she doesn't like to talk about alot. I think that season 9 will be interesting to watch again and compare with how Abby is now.

I think this was a VERY interesting episode. While it was difficult to watch it, was a superbly acted and a well constructed hour of television. I think what made it soo difficult for all of us here to watch was the fact that we know Abby so well, we have seen her grow as a character and have watched the progression from emotional wreck, when she first started to blossoming into a stable person last year. To see her fall again so far is a disapointment and somehow, I feel betrayed by it. However, I think what makes a good actor is their willingness to allow an audience see their character at their very worst, Maura Tierney has no qualms with doing this. The easy option for the writers and her would have been to let Abby coast along happily until Luka returns, but they didn't, they took a risk. The storyline is probably a vehicle to up ratings and give Maura a jucier storyline than happy Abby, but I have to say, they did good. I don't know about anyone else but this story got me a LOT more involved in the episode than previous ones this season. Maura Tierney has such an emotional depth, that you can't help but empathise and root for her. We might not like what Abby does but we understand what drove her there. We understand, not because she directly tells us, but by subtleties in her body language and the hints of despair and truth in her eyes. This is acting at it's best and could well land her a second Emmy nod. All round I LOVED this episode and cannot wait to see how it is played out.

I too think this was a good episode. I don't remember watching one 3 times in one day, except maybe for Hindsight(the first episode I became a Luka/Abby shipper). And E.R. is a drama, so it needs good drama. I know people say season 9 was a mess, but for me it was the best since everyone was in their darkest hours. All I can hope is that they'll give us something interesting to watch about other characters as well. They are soooo under-used!

I still can't decide if I think it is a great episode (my drama + Maura fan side speaking) or a terrible episode (my Luby lover side speaking). A couple of pages back I saw some people discussing if she indeed cheated or not and what will Luka's reaction be. I think he will be more upset about her falling off the wagon than about the whole Moretti thing. At least that would be my reaction if I was in his place, considering she should be caring for their son and all that.

ok dont yell at me but the episode was brilliant...not great as in enjoyable cos that it defo was NOT but it was the best written for quite a while. I cringed for abby as soon as she came into the bar- it was like watching a train wreck waiting to happen! and i'm sorry but I think moretti was an absolute sleaze bag- I wrote in a post ages ago in another episode that he appeared to have a thing for abby and i reeeee-ally hoped TPTB didnt go there so it was hinted that he liked her. But EVERYone saw she was drunk so there is no way he couldnt! and also he obviously plied her with more drink. It actually makes me feel sick. I also can't get the visions out of my head! I can't actually remember what else happened apart from I feel sorry for Morris. GGGGGRRRRHHHH!!! AAAAAARRRRGGGGGHHH!!!!! Pllleeeease get on the plane on the next ep and go see Luka! ETA: in my haste i forgot to say thank u sooo much to enuage and amanda for posting. Also I love the way we think the same here...I was reminded of two ships also when I saw abby awaking. TPTB are good, we have to admit!

Hey all! It's been ages since I was last here (life is crazy!), but after seeing the new ep a while ago, I just had to post!
I think it was a great ep as far as Maura's acting, because she did an awesome job!! However I totally hate the fact that she cheated on Luka. I really did feel her pain and her loneliness, but that flashback scene was just yuck!! I can't believe that she did that! After everything she and Luka have been through! It makes me so mad!

I was disgusted with Moretti from the second I saw he had a drink all ready for Abby when she returned to the bar. He's attracted to her, saw the effect the booze already had on her, and he went with it. It seemed a bit premeditated on his part. As if, in the time Abby was outside arguing with Pratt, Moretti had decided how he wanted the evening to . . . proceed. It's very shady how he already had a drink for her. I am thinking he maybe he had something to do with her blackout. Because even though Abby was drunk already when she got to the bar, I don't think she was so drunk to the point where she would blackout. I mean, she walking fine, talking fine, she just didn't seem to be at the point as to where she would blackout. I really think he had more to do with this than TPTB are letting on.

I don't think so, that Morreti has something with her blackout... He bought her a drink, nothing else.. Behaviour of drunk people is individual. Somebody can be totally drunk (not to be able to walk, speak...) and can remember everything. And that's the thing that Abby was looking quite well and she had a blackout. But next day, she started to remember all those bad things she did... As I said, it' s individual...

As if, in the time Abby was outside arguing with Pratt, Moretti had decided how he wanted the evening to . . . proceed. I don't think he planned it. How could he know Abby would decide to stay with him and not go out with all of her coworkers when they decided to leave Ike's? He didn't even know Abby would approach him the first time at the bar. She's the one who seemed to be giving him looks and glances like she'd made up her mind what she wanted to do after she accused him of flirting and called him a shining knight on a white horse.
