Back in the Game, based on a true story.
Introduction
Abby and Luka both participated in sports in high school. Luka was Quarterback for a New Jersey football team and Abby was captain of the cheerleading squad for a Pennsylvania team. They only saw each other once before, and that was when the 2 teams played on Thanksgiving Day in 1993. The game ended in a tie. They exchanged glances, and immediately fell in love, but never dated in school. They met up at County General Hospital in Chicago a couple years later when they graduated from med school. Luka and Abby have been dating now for 4 years and are now engaged. They also have a little girl named Emily who is 3 years old. Almost 16 years later, the 2 teams are asked to go back and replay the game. They never knew that they fell in love at a football game in high school until now.
Each member of the teams, even the cheerleaders, get $1,000 if they participate in this event. Luka and Abby both have to decide on what to do. They could help settle a big high school rivalry, or they could just let it go and not bother with it at all.
Sound good? Let me know if it sounds interesting and I'll post the first chapter!

Thanks guys! Here's the first chapter! Chapter 1 Another normal day at CountyAbby walked into the ER holding her cup of coffee from Jumbo Mart, being careful not to trip over any of the patients waiting to be seen. "Weaver left these for you," Frank said handing Abby 5 charts. "What I don't even get to take my coat off anymore?" It was flu season. Abby hated it. Year after year the same people would come to the ER with the same complaints. Of course, Abby would just tell them the same thing, "Get some rest and take Tylenol." Abby walked into the lounge to put her things into her locker. Luka was there hanging up his coat also. "Hey!," Abby said to Luka. When she got over to him, she got up on her toes and kissed him. Tall, handsome, cute, sexy, he was perfect. She couldn't wait to marry him. She turned the combination on her locker, threw her coat and purse in there, and got her lab coat, ID, and stethoscope out. "So have you thought more about getting married in Croatia?," Luka asked her. Abby shrugged as she closed her locker. "I don't know yet. It's a lot. I mean, I'd like to, but I don't know yet." Luka sighed and closed his locker. They both walked out of the lounge together holding hands. "We'll talk about it later", Luka said as they walked out of the door and saw all the patients sitting in the waiting room and hallways. Abby smiled at him as he walked off and she grabbed the charts sitting at the desk. It was a day full of admitting patients with pneumonia and telling people to just go home and let the flu run its course. Even though there wasn't much excitement, Luka and Abby were both tired by the time their shift was over. As soon as Abby signed off on her last chart, she went off to find Luka. He was in trauma 2 with a GSW. Open pushed the door open and stood in the doorway for a minute. "Hey I'm going to go pick up Emily from daycare, I'll wait for you in the lounge then." Abby waited for a reply from Luka. "Um, yeah okay sure. If you see Pratt could you tell him to get in here too?" Abby nodded and walked towards the elevators. She saw Pratt walking out of the one elevator. "Greg, Luka needs you in trauma 2.", She said passing him as she walked into the elevator. "Thanks Abby, I got his page just now." Abby walked with Emily into the lounge. Luka would probably still be awhile so she put Emily down to sleep on the coach and decided to check her email on the computer that was in the lounge. It was just junk mail, as usual. There was one that stood out to her. It was from Kara Fisher, her best friend in high school. The subject was Hey.Dear. Abby, How have you been? It's been pretty nice here. I hear Chicago's getting a lot of snow, we barely got any yet. Allison and Erin are doing good, their getting so big! How's Emily been? She must be almost 4 now! The towns are getting together and replaying that football game from senior year. The cheerleaders that live in the area were thinking about getting back together for the game also. Any interest in coming back? We really miss you around here. Take care of yourself. ~KaraAbby was frozen. Yeah, this was definitely another normal day at County.

I am VERY sorry for such a long wait. Things have calmed down a lot, so I will have a lot more time to update.
Chapter 2 Exchanging emails/Letters
Abby wasn't sure what to write back to the email. She looked back over at Emily, who was still sound asleep. Abby clicked the reply button, and started typing.
Hey Kara, I've been fine. Yeah, it has been pretty snowy here. Emily's great, she is sound asleep right now. Wow, they are serious about that? I'm going to have to think it over, see what Luka has to say about it. Do you think your going to participate in it? I miss you too. We will have to get together sometime soon if I don't come for that game. Maybe spend the weekend together. Tell Mark, Allison, and Erin I said hi. Abby
Abby started to read the email over. The way she worded everything, it sounded kind of stupid, but it'll do. Just as she clicked the send button, Luka walked in.
"Hey, I have to take a patient upstairs, as soon as I come back down, we'll leave."
"It's fine, take your time."
After a few minutes, Abby went back to looking through her emails. She was surprised when a reply popped up from Kara.
Yeah, they are more serious than ever about it. I'll give you a call sometime tomorrow, that way we can talk more about it. ~Kara
Abby decided not to write back. She was a little nervous about Kara calling her tomorrow. She hadn't talked to her on the phone in over 3 years, maybe more.
Luka walked into the room, startling Abby.
"You scared me."
"Sorry, are you ready to go?"
"Yeah, I'll carry Emily out to the car."
When they got to their apartment, Luka grabbed the mail from the mail slot and walked in following Abby.
"Anything important?" Abby asked while she rushed Emily to her room to put her down to sleep.
"No, just bills and junk." He was about ready to throw all the junk mail out when he saw that there was still a letter stuck to a coupon book. Micheal Smith. Micheal was Luka's best friend in high school. They played football together. He opened the envelope to see a letter, about half the page filled.
Hey Luka, How's it out there in Chicago? Damn, it's crazy back here. That game we lost back in '93, yeah their replaying that. We need you back here. Almost the whole team is back, if you could make it, it would be great. The date is April 26th. Email me, I'll tell you more about it. Mike
Luka took one quick glance over the letter again, and quickly crumbled it up and threw it in the trash. Abby walked back into the room just as Luka threw the letter away.
"What was that?"
"Oh, nothing, just one of stupid prize letters saying I could win $5,000 a week for the rest of my life. It's crap, I don't even know why I opened it."
"Okay, well I'll be in the bedroom, it's been a long day."
"I'll be right behind you then." Luka watched as Abby walked back to the bedroom. He thought about it again, but figured he couldn't leave Abby. He knew that something like this would involve a lot practice, which would mean being away from his family, his job, and his friends for awhile.
Luka turned the lights off and followed Abby into the bedroom.

Thanks guys! I'll try to have another update later.Chapter 3 Bad DreamAbby awoke to hear Emily screaming in her room. Luka must not have heard it because he was still sound asleep. She quickly got up out of bed and walked in to check on Emily. Abby flipped on the little light next to Emily's bed as she sat down and started to stroke her hand through Emily's hair. "Shhh, shhhh. What's wrong? Did you have a bad dream?" Emily nodded her head as she began to wipe the tears away from her face with her fists. "Tell me." "I had a dream that you and Daddy were going to go away. I don't want you to leave." Emily began crying harder again. Abby grabbed her and gave her a hug. "I promise you, both your Dad and I are staying right here, no one is leaving." "Promise?" "Promise. Now why don't you go back to sleep." Abby got up and flipped the light off. She walked off into the kitchen to make herself some tea. As she went to throw a napkin away, she saw that the letter that Luka crumbled up and threw in the trash was handwritten. It was on lined paper. She reached in and grabbed it, carefully trying not to tear it as she uncrumbled it. This could not be true, Abby thought to herself. If this is the same game that Kara is talking about, then, Luka, was Luka her crush from the other team in High School? Abby quickly crumbled the letter back up and threw it away in the trash when she heard Luka coming down the hallway. "Everything okay?" "Yeah, Emily just had a bad dream so I figured I'd make some tea for myself while I was up." "Oh, okay then. Just wanted to make sure everything was okay." Luka walked back down the hallway and back into the bedroom. The tea kettle whistling startled Abby. She quickly got a mug and made her tea. Usually when Abby would wake up in the middle of the night, she couldn't get back to sleep very easily. She looked over to the clock on the stove; 4:19 am. Luckily, she didn't have to work tomorrow, Luka did, but she didn't. Abby walked into the living room, still holding her cup of tea, and looked out the window. She watched as the cars passed by, and as the snowflakes began to pile up on the window sill. Abby stood there for about 15 minutes until she finally felt tired again. She placed her mug in the sink and walked into the bedroom.
