I really respectfully disagree. Abby doesn't have to go into rehab at all ... she just needs to get back to the basis of her program. That would be much more believable, IMO. As far as all the symbols, I'm hoping for the compass, as well. We had the snow globe on the table in COM, I believe and this season he had that intern refer to them as Luby ... Zabel did start and beautifully I might add and I'm sure he'll finish the same way!

I think she needs her Luka back and feel that they are a complete family again.. And a little guiding too by Neela, Kerry (if they let her back again as they said) Luka and her close friends.. Maybe even her mother or father comes back and guide her what do i know.. But i dont think she needs rehab at all !

But i dont think she needs rehab at all ! Hardly. The worst thing to do to someone struggling with addiction and/or psychological issues is to try to "save" them. It's asking for relapse. In order for someone to recover, it needs to be their own decision, doing the work themselves. Luka or Maggie swooping in to save the day would not only be hideously cheesy, but totally counterproductive. Thus why Carter's attempts to get her to quit drinking were so hare-brained. The ONLY way for someone to change is for them to make the decision themself. And I really doubt that Moretti's son is bipolar. There's no indication of that, and it would be a bit of a broken record. He could be having any issue from drug abuse to depression to a physical health problem. And finally, I strongly disagree that Zabel has done anything decent since 13.02. It's been like a bad fanfic...the show is tanking because of plotholes, poor writing, and ludicrous storylines. I still love ER, but it's the actors, directors, and propmasters who keep it afloat, not Zabel.

IIRC Abby did not go into rehab after her S8 relapse which continued for a considerable length of time (I don't really remember it, but I remember reading that there wasn't really much coverage of how she managed to get back on the wagon)... I don't think they'd have her doing so now.
I wouldn't like the idea of Moretti being somehow intricately-linked by parallels to Luka and Abby as it would seem so contrived. I suspect that his son's illness may end up being an exit arc of some kind.

I heartily agree......and would like to submit us both as writers for the show so we can duke out our differences in person....at Wells' Hawaiian hideaway.

I don't think Zabel keeps the show afloat either. I do think that the Luka/Abby relationship is his special project.

in the er live blog:
Future for Abby and Luca J: I'll just say that the Abby/Luca relationship is going to through a real roller coaster ride in the fall season. Between now and Christmas, I think you're going to see some of the most exciting, dynamic scenes that the two of them will ever have

I agree with you there! Good outcome, I think it's just to show how good they are with drama. I mean it's ER's last season and one would think they are going to try their best to do a very good season.
