I read this spoiler at work today and i was like WOW.
Mixed feelings on this like most of you.
I really did not want Abby to hit the bottle again but i think Maura does a great job of portraying a troubled Abby.
At the same time its great because this can only mean only one thing .....the return of Luka, to get her back on track, the return of Luby which if I'm been honest has been a long time coming.

Okay so this is really the story for this episode. When Abby falls off the wagon, she makes a hard landing.
Is this a big Abby episode or does anything interesting happen to the rest of the characters?

Personally I don't want her falling off the wagon because of Luka or climbing back on just because he shows up. That would be almost as bad as Carter riding into the rescue. I am hoping that she realizes what is happening to her and pulls herself back together and THEN deals with the second coming of Luka. THAT would be the Abby I have come to love.

I agree Larue ... IMO, it would defeat the purpose of her getting sober. She must do it for her first ... everything else will then fall into place. Just hope there's not too much angst in the interim.

That would be the way to do it.... I agree 100% with you. I am very skeptical of this Luby angst and it's all on Abby's part, which makes it worse because she has the baby to take care of and alcoholism with the baby around can not be good measures... I just hope she pulls herself together. She CAN do it! She's Abby for crying out loud!

I don't know if anybody else think the same but at the moment i finding it hard to picture Abby falling of the wagon again, mainly because she been so happy for so long and season 13 has shown us that. Nothing so far from the season 14 spoilers has given me real reason for to go into relapse. OK, she managing everything by herself at present (working/rasing Joe), now Luka out of the picture. However, i feel that she has been through tougher times since becoming sober for her to relapse all over again. What about season 11? when she was kidnapped, or maybe Joe birth?, the whole Ames situation? but saying that she got through all of these tragedies without even thinking about drinking. And when she was kidnapped in season 11, there was no Luka or Carter in the picture to help her and she got through it! so why now..? (apart from it being good TV!) I just keep seeing those images of her and Luka in 'I don't' and how happy she was, that i can't picture her as 'Drunken Abby'..! I think there must be something more we're are not seeing..?

Alcoholics don't need a big reason to drink. But if you want to give Abby one, she doesn't have her husband there to be happy family with. She's spent the first months of her new marriage being a single mom with a full time job. Fun stuff. And she has a new boss she doesn't get on with. Stressful, yes?

She's drunk - there's no question of that. It's been explained by people better informed than myself that alcoholics don't necessarily *need* a reason to relapse. And that aside, you are forgetting that the day she apparently takes a drink, her son has a serious accident, she almost has a car crash on the way home and she can't reach the one person she really wants to talk to in Luka. We also don't know that she wasn't tempted to drink in the other situations she's experienced, and I'm sure there was some mention of her seeing her sponsor after the kidnapping anyway.

although I hate to see Abby hurt herself or her child, I think this storyline is needed. TPTB needed to create a strong storyline to genereate viewers and to keep people watching. Afterall, who is going to carry the show? Gates, Neela, Moretti??? I think not. With this storyline, people will be compelled to continue watching, waiting to see how this all unfolds and I have no doubt that Maura will be amazing and carry the show onwards. I also have no doubt that things will all work out in the end

Anyone remember the interview with Goran? He pretty much said there's going to be some drama during season 14, but they get a happy ending - so calm down!!
Honestly, I think it's going to be awesome. They really need to pick the series up after season 13, which to be honest, was a bit lame. (Ok, so Forrest Whittaker was awesome, but everything else? Snore...)

I on the plus side the Croatian eppie seems to be upon us....! lets just hope this will sorts her out, fingers crossed! I don't think so! The airline people are not letting Abby get on a plane in that state. (And away from the storyline, I think GV's, erm, 'little problem', has scotched any Croatian episodes.)

Did Goran's remark about the 'little hell' refer to season 14 or to the wedding eipsode?? He was talking about filming the wedding when he made that comment. And on another note, Croatian scenes don't necessarily have to be filmed in Croatia. There are enough Croatian citizens living in the LA area to fill out a cast, I would imagine. I don't think Goran's little...erm...problem...would stop them from doing such a story line if that is the plan.

Unless they decide to turn the court session into an epsisode hum.

Diving in. I was really surprised how dark they've taken this. On the other hand, it's really a chance for them to get it right. He has to love her as she is, and she can't give up just because she's scared. I think the idea that alcoholics drink because they are alcoholics is true - I do have to wonder though since she's always had abandonment as an issue if having Luka be gone for so long doesn't sort of bring that up in her - coupled with a bad day and then I think once you have a drink you want more. . .
I'm really hoping Moretti just brought her home because she was too drunk to do anything else.
